I am 78 years old and have never come across this series, they are little master pieces I have not seen the Victorian period recreated so exactly, you would think it was filmed at the time, splendid!
If you are 78 then how would you know it was exactly. Have you worked in a brothel, associated with the criminal under world or been so poor you lived in the gutters.
I'm 62 and watched this when it was first broadcast "for the young when info was sent via the airwaves"Look back via TH-cam, a lot hasn't aged well. This is still great, one of the best series ever.
Over the years I have seen this series several times, and I never have gotten bored but have always greatly enjoyed it. The dry humor, the casting, costumes, and sets are a masterpiece!! Thank you for making it available❤
LOVE this series. I've seen the entire playlist 3 times, and currently enjoying the 4th. I have to say, all throughout the run, the reality that there is no such thing as 'FAIR' in this world. It's the idiots who have all the money and power these days, it's the one who spends his lifetime lending what help he may to others with nothing asked in return who can't buy a friend when he needs one, to wit: No good deed goes unpunished, and the guy who solves the mystery has to stand by and see someone else get the credit. Sad but true.
William Simons is so good in this kind of role, he was one of My favourite characters in the BBC ‘Heartbeat’ - where he was again in the role of a Policeman, with loads of personality. Thank-You for this!!
Thanks for posting. such believable characters and scenes. No posturing of people with 21st attitudes, or judgement, or incongruities. Just realistic action and behaviour and sets and language.
You will always have my thanks for taking the time to post this fabulous drama, one of the few programmes I watched when I was younger and really enjoyed. I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself and I thought "to hell with that, watch Cribb and feel better"! and I have and I am. Best wishes and personal thanks again for posting this fantastic drama.
I worked at St. Marks Hospital in Islington central London , it was in City Rd .It is a colorectal Hospital . It opened in 1834 . I worked in the operating theatres. It moved to NW London in the early 90's .
good episode. so far- wax works/ the pugilist boxer / irish terrorists and this one with the *farmer giles* are my fave stories so far thank you for sharing
I maybe I'm dense. Nut I didn't pick up on what operation the Sergeant was in for, other than that it was embarrassing and in his "Nether Regions" but not urgent...hemmeroids maybe?🤔
@mandeville7474 rhyming slang, love it: brought to Australia two hundred years ago, used to hear a lot of it among " working men"...upon a time. Great code, if you want to confuse young kids who've no idea what it is any more 😅

Im 60 and thought i’d seen most of the good 70s & 80s period tv shows but TH-cam has shown me how wrong i was on many occasions i’m happy to say.

Just found this series. It’s very good and bravo for posting it, it’s a shame you could not have got the aspect ratio right.

Great plot, lots of witty zingers and a very original denouement!
YIKES!....He'd appreciate having his instruments "Washed" as they were rather "Grubby" when he used them last?!? Good grief! 😬🥴😵💫
Love it. Thanks.
What a Graveyard! Wonder if it's still there?
Brilliant right to the end.
Thankyou for posting this ! Brilliant series
Just look at the young ( very young ) Linda Robson ( Birds of a Feather fame) as a Nurse.
Yes and to think Birds of a Feather was such a nauseating cretin worthy diabolical load of crap and this such a clever piece of work.
Now you are totally spoiling me .Thanks for another fine upload ;o)x
You are more than welcome...should have "Wobble to Death" out tomorrow! X
"You took it on Monday sir"... haha, I 've watched half-hour comedy shows and not gotten a laugh like that.
LOL, cleaning surgical instruments not a routine practice back then
Great show
I love the old British mysteries
I remember when I was young the matron and sister were like Sargent majors they were very strict it's very different now
Alf Ventress has been a 'copper' for way too long. He's always getting the fuzzy end of the lollypop!
I maybe I'm dense. Nut I didn't pick up on what operation the Sergeant was in for, other than that it was embarrassing and in his "Nether Regions" but not urgent...hemmeroids maybe?🤔
Yes Haemorrhoids .English spelling . Cockney rhyming slang Farmer Giles=Piles .
