      Cool! ;-) There are many songs from her since 1984 and also many albums. You can find titles and videos on TH-cam and Vevo (offical videos) and a well-done unoffical site: mylene.net (singles, albums, concerts, singles sleeves, remixes, photos, videos, TV SHOWS, and many more). It's in french but you'll know Mylène's universe and songs.

      @@manjobi86 I'm French fan. A new single released this week "L'âme dans l'eau" cover of HOW I BECAME A BOMB band titled "Ulay, oh" in 2014 (Adonis album).This single is well ranked this week on download platforms and radio rotations. The documentary called "L'ultime création" on Amazon Prime this September 25th, in 3 episodes and Mylene's voice off.

      I found out about her in October 1995. I went to a thrift store by my aunt house to snoop around and I found this cassette with a girl with red hair with a puppet. I bought it out of the blue. After listening to it I was obsessed with her and bought all her CDs to this day. She is my favorite artist in the whole planet.

    This song opened her first tour ever in 1989 and she never sung it again until this. This is the very last song from her latest concert, it is heavily rumored that it was to be her last tour and concert ever. It's like she created this full cycle experience where she just goes out in smoke, singing "it is too late. Too late (remember)"

      I was at the first show on this last tour and a second a week ago. When we heard "L'Horloge" all the audience were goosebumps because of the symbol that represents this song. We were asking ourself if this tour was really her last tour of her carreer.

    I must say this, I did not expect you to react to l’horloge before some other performances, a great surprise!! Every time you post a Mylene reaction I get exited to know what you thought of it, I’m glad you understand how well the melody is written, the stage show, symbolism, everything. Often people don’t get the right message..
    As you said, l’horloge is a poem. It literally is telling us that we (might be) are out of time in our faces. She adapted this into a song back in 1988 and also it was the first song of her first tour, now it’s the last song of 2019.. I’m scared to think what that might mean since there is no answer from her.
    The genius composer behind her is Laurent Boutonnat, he has been working with her since her debut. Sadly not so many albums are composed by him now but everything from 1986-2008 was all him (or Mylene since she has also composed and co composed her music!)
    You are also very right on Mylene looking amazing! She’s 57 in that video and she looks stunning. As you said, her hair, make up, outfit.. it’s all perfect!!

    • @bekunpdl
      @bekunpdl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Just to add that Laurent Boutonnat is also the director of the big majority of Mylene's magnificent videos. And she is very well surrounded by top musicians playing for her. Yvan Cassar is a genious!! Dimitri (lights) and François Hanss (DVDs director). Only top notch professionals, a great team!

    L’horloge
    Charles BAUDELAIRE
    Recueil : "Les Fleurs du Mal"
    Horloge ! dieu sinistre, effrayant, impassible,
    Dont le doigt nous menace et nous dit : » Souviens-toi !
    Les vibrantes Douleurs dans ton coeur plein d’effroi
    Se planteront bientôt comme dans une cible,
    Le plaisir vaporeux fuira vers l’horizon
    Ainsi qu’une sylphide au fond de la coulisse ;
    Chaque instant te dévore un morceau du délice
    A chaque homme accordé pour toute sa saison.
    Trois mille six cents fois par heure, la Seconde
    Chuchote : Souviens-toi ! - Rapide, avec sa voix
    D’insecte, Maintenant dit : Je suis Autrefois,
    Et j’ai pompé ta vie avec ma trompe immonde !
    Remember ! Souviens-toi, prodigue ! Esto memor !
    (Mon gosier de métal parle toutes les langues.)
    Les minutes, mortel folâtre, sont des gangues
    Qu’il ne faut pas lâcher sans en extraire l’or !
    Souviens-toi que le Temps est un joueur avide
    Qui gagne sans tricher, à tout coup ! c’est la loi.
    Le jour décroît ; la nuit augmente, souviens-toi !
    Le gouffre a toujours soif ; la clepsydre se vide.
    Tantôt sonnera l’heure où le divin Hasard,
    Où l’auguste Vertu, ton épouse encor vierge,
    Où le repentir même (oh ! la dernière auberge !),
    Où tout te dira : Meurs, vieux lâche ! il est trop tard ! «

      The Clock
      Impassive clock! Terrifying, sinister god,
      Whose finger threatens us and says: "Remember!
      The quivering Sorrows will soon be shot
      Into your fearful heart, as into a target;
      Nebulous pleasure will flee toward the horizon
      Like an actress who disappears into the wings;
      Every instant devours a piece of the pleasure
      Granted to every man for his entire season.
      Three thousand six hundred times an hour, Second
      Whispers: Remember! - Immediately
      With his insect voice, Now says: I am the Past
      And I have sucked out your life with my filthy trunk!
      Remember! Souviens-toi, spendthrift! Esto memor!
      (My metal throat can speak all languages.)
      Minutes, blithesome mortal, are bits of ore
      That you must not release without extracting the gold!
      Remember, Time is a greedy player
      Who wins without cheating, every round! It's the law.
      The daylight wanes; the night deepens; remember!
      The abyss thirsts always; the water-clock runs low.
      Soon will sound the hour when divine Chance,
      When august Virtue, your still virgin wife,
      When even Repentance (the very last of inns!),
      When all will say: Die, old coward! it is too late!"

    True artist who doesn’t bend to the whims and tastes of popular (commercial) culture. Popular culture bends and flocks to her art. Everything she does is an artistic statement in every detail. All her live performances are so memorable. But, her videos are also artistic statements. I loved her from the first time I heard “Libertine”, but, it was when I heard “Que Mon Coeur Lache” in the early 90’s and learned what the song was about that I then realized she was more than just a singer. And then the video blew me away and still remains as powerful and moving to me today as when it was released back in 1992. You should do a reaction video to it. Actually, any and all videos and live performances are all beautifully constructed works of art. I hate when I hear or read that she is sometimes labeled the French Madonna. Mylene is so in another league that Madonna would be lucky to be called the American “Mylene”.

    It’s nice to see a “virgin” reaction on Mylène Farmer who we know so well in France. It makes us remember how lucky we are to be able to follow her for all those years. You’re impressed by the music and all the amount of work behind it, which is also thanks to a very very important person in her carrier and universe: Mr. Laurent Boutonnat. He is the one who discovered and launched the carrier of Mylène Farmer in the early 80’s and he is a man of true talent who composed many of her songs musics, directed many of her best videos (including Désenchantée) and concerts.

I saw that you commented "disillusioned "You have to see the clip for" Libertine "and you will see what she is capable of. since her debut around 1984 85 she has always done her music videos (movies) way and all of her tours and big stages have been spectacular. good night

    Lovely review, Dereck. I have been a fan of Mylene for more than 10 years and trust me - you won't regret that you discovered her. She's an absolute gem. I will repeat same things as other fans say - watch her old music videos, read translations of her lyrics. She gets really personal with them. As she said herself about why she rarely gives interviews ''everything you need to know is in my songs''. Love your videos and i'm sorry if i made some grammar errors, english is not my native language.

    Merci! I have been waiting for this reaction video with high anticipation. This by far is probably the best finale to a concert I've ever seen. Like much if the audience I was nearly in tears when I first saw this production. The 1989 version is good as well but this one left me speechless. I wish u could share my private collection of her videos with you bc we are so limited in the US to her live performances and videos. There is no comparison to Mylène. Many say she is the French Madonna but I say she is so much more than that. She is like no one else. Thank you for doing this reaction video. I hope you do realize your last Mylène reaction video was plastered and shared by nearly every Mylène fan page I subscribe to btw. I love the research you did for this song. Your French diction may not be perfect but your explanation was well executed. I have come to really love this channel. ... now I can't leave without pleading for you to investigate another artist, an irish one: Roísìn Murphy. Her studio version videos for her singles are really envelope pushers. She is avant-garde, predating Lady Gaga and formally the lead of the 90s duo Moloko. Whether you do a reaction video on her or not she is an artist you must explore. But i digress, should you choose to react to another Mylène video i humbly suggest "Je te rends ton amour". Or "L'âme-stram-gram" (1999 official video" ) i personally would love to see the expression on your face to that one. Again, thank you for reacting to this performance. It was a "must see" wasn't it? Pure le magie!

    This song is particulary remarkable, because her first concert in her whole life was "l'horloge", and at her last concerts in 2019, she finished by "l'horloge"... So, I and others fans are very affraid, did she tell use "it's finish guys ... farewell !" ???
    I was in the public during her concerts, I am a biggest fan, i collect too, i go to a lot of her concerts since maybe 10 years...
    She is a performer !

    Hi Derek! I'm glad you keep doing reviews on Mylene. She is unique! See the music video for the song "Je Te Rends Ton Amour". Also, there are live performances while on tour with this song in 1999, 2009 and 2019. And all the performances are interesting. But first of all, I think you should go back to her work in 1986-1988. Libertine & Pourvu qu'elles soient douces (Libertine II). You can also pay attention to the 1991 hit" Je T'aime Melancolie "music video and" Que mon Couer Lache" - this video was shot by the world-famous Director Luc Besson. Greetings from Russia, Derek!❤️

      Петр Власенко Yeah, you’re right. MJ is a music legend like Mylène. I don’t listen to Madonna, myself. It just seemed a bit odd to compare a male and female singer, though. ;)

    • @MatW1lson
      @MatW1lson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Петр Власенко You know, I’ve been thinking lately.... You are absolutely right. Mylène is the French Michael Jackson! I mean at times her voice sounds like the female Michael Jackson like in Pourvu qu’elles soient douces (e.g.). I suppose I was thinking more grammatically before. E.g. the same experience as if you read e.g.: мой семья; мой песня
      I.e. wrong gender agreement.
      So, I’m glad you compared her to Michael Jackson, after all! Because Madonna is such a whore.

    She opened her very first concert in 1989 with that song, coming out of a cemetery, Close her concert in 2019 with that song and everything burst into flames... All fans are worried that was her very last goodbye. I've been to that concert 4 times and I can tell you that the whole arena was silent for at least 10 very long seconds at the end.

I Highly suggest u react to a music video next; my first choice would be "pourvu qu'elles soient douces", the original 18 minute version! this video is everything, released in 1988, it was her first N.1 in France, the video is a movie, with sexual perversion themes woven in a war story:)

    Hello Dereck, very happy that you published a new reaction to one of Mylene's work, there is so much to say about her songs and interpretations, you could make a channel dedicated only to her ^^
    The duo she forms with Laurent Boutonnat, who composed most of her songs, is spectacular. They manage to create a unique universe, yet each fan can relate to it and feel included into.
    She also got to sing with Sting, Moby, LP, Gary Jules and her live costumes were made by Paco Rabanne, Franck Sorbier, Jean-Paul Gaultier...
    I will join some other comments, and advise you to watch the combination of clips Libertine and Pourvu qu'elles soient douces which make them a movie, very clever and rare (only Michael Jackson would compete on that level) at the end of the 80s, and you will see that, even then, big bucks were spend to make quality production. I would also advise you, even on a personal note without having to do a reaction video, to watch the clip California, which was directed by Abel Ferrara and features Giancarlo Esposito.

    Hi Dereck ! Thanks for your videos.
    I am french and a huge fan of Mylène ! I am so happy that you discovered this unbelievable artist ! I saw your 3 videos about her.
    If I can give you an advice for your next video : look at the video clip "Libertine". The best clip of Mylène for me ! All her live performances are amazing since her first show in 1989 ! Mylène writes her lyrics but for the amazing sounds it is Laurent Boutonnat the composer. They are the perfect duet since all this years !
    They created a unique universe together. At last, I think the best version live of Désenchantée is "Mylène Farmer Stade de France". Jean-Paul Gaultier is often the creator of her stage costumes.
    You have a lot of mervellous songs to discover with Mylène !
