- I was already excited about the Bandai S.H. Figuarts Rey, just because it's Rey and SHF, but after seeing the movie? Multiply that excitement by 100! I'm not as impressed by the Praetorian Guard and BB-4 but it's the third time we've gotten those figures. Kinda. Still cool but no surprises.

The fact that the lightsaber can separate is surprisingly relevant after watching The Last Jedi.

Robo my man don't feel bad about enjoying the last Jedi. Don't ever let people tell you that you can't enjoy something, personally I absolutely loved it. Makes me more excited for episode 9. I preordered the Rey, should be here soon and this review signified that preorder was not in vain. Thank you man, keep up the great work!
Oh, definitely, I'm more weirded out how nasty some people are getting because they don't like it. It's a movie. And somehow us liking it is offensive? There's even one dude turning it political in the comments. It's a movie. Haha. And yeah, Rey is totally worth it, looks like a lot of people are scrambling to get her now.

Watched the TLJ yesterday, freakin' LOVING it, gave me a new appreciation on the Kylo and Praetorian Guard @ Overbite I already own, made me anticipating for Rey to arrive in front of my office..... and made me want to give the Stormtrooper Executioner Figuarts a proper funeral due to how underused they were in the movie.

Love your reviews .....always!! Loved the film, surprised by all the haters. They just want the same old Star Wars.
So many people do actually have a reason for disliking TLJ. The plot wasn't compelling and the characters were poorly written (Rey is a Mary Sue, totally overpowered, Kylo Ren could have been better handled and Luke is an utter failure, despite him being the most optimistic character in the OT). It's not about "the same old Star Wars", come to think about it, what you can find in the Expanded Universe is sometimes pretty creative and cool (e.g. KOTOR 1 and 2, or those stories about Mara Jade and the Yuuzhan Vong war) . It's about the story and what they made of the characters. You want something fresh, compelling, something deconstructing the entire SW universe? Have a look at Kreia from KOTOR 2 and her philosophy. There's a pretty good video on that subject here on YT.
But, to some extent, you do have a point since Ep. VII was basically a remake of Ep. IV, with Rey as young Luke, BB8 as R2D2, Kylo Ren as Darth Vader, another desert planet, etc. The story is very similar. And just have a look at the success The Force Awakens had.

Hi, just wondering if Rey’s torso can rotate easily. Mine feels stiff and I’m really concerned about trying as my shf homecoming spidey’s torso broke when I tried turning him at the waist. Cool to see a glimpse of the torso joint in your video - it does look different from the spider one.

The Figuarts Undertaker figure had a similar setup for the alternate heads. You popped the head off and the long hair sat on the neck, and the head just goes over the top. I actually like this approach for characters with long hair. It gets rid of the seam around the face.
I have Rock and Austin around here somewhere, never even messed with them much. I should probably get Kane and Undertaker.
Great review, as always. One idea that came to me, could you get away with trimming a little bit of the underskirt off, on the side that has the hanging down loop on that side? In theory any excess you remove will be hidden by the loop anyway? Just any idea? Nice trick with the face plates too.
The film was awesome too! Though when the hell do we get to find out Snoke's back story?
I figure they could go into that with an animated series or flashback, or later movie even. We didn't know jack about Palpatine when he died and all of that has since been fleshed out. And that's a good idea but it's not so much the skirt itself, it's that hoop hanging down holding the skirt down. Cut the skirt and the hoop would still be there.

Although I don't have any of the guards, the rereleased Darth Maul has softer hands, so I imagine it's the same material used. I'm glad you liked TLJ, as it's already one of my favourites. I have a feeling that as the initial shock wears off, it'll be held in high regard. The backlash is the same as Rebels' Twin Suns episode a few months ago, and ESB at its release (look it up).
Yeah, I had a feeling about that. I'm just no getting back online and hadn't researched it. I probably watched that Rebels episode but I can't remember which it is. But I did notice that they lifted the lightspeed move from Hera. It was just as awesome the second time.
I loved the movie! I’m glad to hear you did as well. It was easily one of the most entertaining, intriguing, and emotional Star Wars movies yet for me. I loved the hell out of it. Not perfect by a long shot but I don’t ever expect any of them to be as perfect (from a film making perspective) as Empire was. Return of the Jedi had tons of flaws and is still my most favorite Star Wars movie of all time because I enjoy it the most. - with that said, I got Rey in transit, she does look a bit pale, and I don’t dig these unpainted hands they’ve been doing (hated it with Qui Gon) but the overall figure looks great.
I didn't realize my blue background kind of ups the pale factor, in-hand it's a bit different. And yeah, the hands I've given up on as far as color goes, they don't show any plans on changing that.
Just bought one of each of the praetorian guard from sh figure arts and the black series hopefully they'll look ok together. Also got the Disney die cast elite praetorian guard he's a little bigger though. Why couldn't hasbro do a version with the rubber skirt like the others instead of cloth?

I wasn't interested in the Praetorian Guard until I saw the movie Sunday. Now I want all of them! And despite what has been said, I loved TLJ! It also gave me inspiration to build all of the Bandai Star Wars kits I have!
And you just reminded me that I have an Executioner kit in the stack that needs built, haha.
I really want a rey figure but I will probably wait until 3rd movie for her final design and chose which one I like most.

Hot Toys’ sixth scale Resistance Rey is my very favorite Rey figure ever, but this one is easily my second fav.

Quick question are these playable because they look amazing and the articulation is great also why I ask I don’t wanna buy them and open them up to pose or play and they break and since you have so many are they okay to be played with with your experience
I have heard of people having a problem here and there but I have never had a problem with breaking on any Figuarts figure I've ever gotten.

Yup, that was my first thought after starting the review. "Damn it, why don't I already have a red background??" And all I'm seeing is sold out at my usual shops, may have to go ebay.

Yeah, the wraps on yours seem off. The shoulder cups on mine feel perfectly symmetrical and you can see the collar of the brown undershirt all the way down, but on yours it's mostly covered and the wrap seems to be sticking up off the shoulder instead of being flush. Not terrible, but a little off.

Super excited now. Was going to call it a day on these at the end of this trilogy of guards and the recent loss of my long term partner, but I think I'll try and continue with this line. Just a little confused/worried if I may have missed the AmiAmi pre-order of Luke???

The Visual Dictionary says there are 8 Praetorian Guards. I didn’t notice it in the movie but apparently there are four pairs and each pair has the same weapon. So you need to get two more.
I think someone broke it down and there are 2 Roofus, 3 Overbite, and 3 Underbite. I need to find out the weapon layout though.

I wish the head sculp was better on Rey, loved that the lightsaber is able to break. Great review, glad you liked the movie! I wish I liked it more but there are things that just do not work for me. Really tired of the extremist fan on both sides of the spectrum attacking everyone that does not agree with their opinion.
I'm completely with you, man. I'm good with anyone not liking it, just getting freaked out on how much this whole Star Wars thing has become some kind of political/religious debate. And those never go pretty.
I'm going to wait on the photo real Rey from hasbro to come out. If that figure is disappointing I'll definitely pick up this SHF Rey.

For the guards, the Black Series is perfectly acceptable. And cheaper. I think out of all of those I'd probably go Rey.

Other than the likeness or Rey from certain angles, these make Black Series look far superior. Especially for the price point of Black Series.

Nope, the hilt doesn't split on the one without the blade, but the bottom part slips into the hand. She can't hold other lightsabers, at least the ones that have bigger ends, without cutting the hand open.

i was kinda dissapointed in rogue one but also kinda happy that i didnt feel the draw of buying any more star wars figures...

I think you need two more overbite PGs and you'll have the whole crew. I saw that there were 2 Rufus, 2 underbite, 4 overbite in the movie. By far my favorite scene.

I’m so torn about the movie, I don’t know if I like it or not!!!:( there are so many things I don’t like, but honestly I don’t believe it was a bad movie, I do believe there are some things that could have been changed to make it a perfect movie!
Personally I came round on it when I realised how many of the faults were actually faults with TFA rather than TLJ

Yeah, but it had Luke suckling at the teat of a giant slimy space seal, made a mockery of all the villains and heroes alike, and didn't give us time to feel anything before making a cheap joke. It literally, and I really do mean this, seemed evident that this movie was made as a mockery to all expectations and previous fandom. That's a whole lot damn worse than Jar Jar.
ET Snyder I’ll agree on the jokes being used at not appropriate times but I personally enjoyed the way they handled the characters. Hey it’s just my opinion though

Also, when you look at all the analyses made of that film it seems that they had good ideas in the beginning of the film but didn't stick with them till the end (there's a Wisecrack review). Also, the whole "kill the past" is just so apalling. You can NEVER kill the past. It WILL always be there, even if it's just a hint. You can NEVER kill 40 years of canon and legends.
It was entertaining, to a certain degree, yes, for a science-fiction/space opera movie. But was subpar for a SW film. At least that's my humble opinion, if you liked the film, good for you. I'm happy. :)

I despised this movie and that saves me the trouble of getting the SHFs. However, I'm quite indifferent to people loving it and I'm glad you enjoyed it because that means more cool reviews from Robo. Having said that, what I hate even more than TLJ is people being all condescending in social media saying "you didn't like it because you were expecting it to be what you wanted!", "you hate change" and all that insecure bullshit.
Speaking about the figures themselves, the Praetorian guard is kinda weak but decent for what it is while I think Rey is a pretty damn good effort. The eyes might be a little cartoonish, but let's not forget the price point of this figure and how much it manages to get right. Besides, anyone who has bought one of these digital printing SHFs knows the faces look much better in person. BTW, I appreciate how you always read comments, which is quite evident by the fact that you reply to a lot of them.
Thank you! That is the way I feel but people feel they have to invalidate the people who didnt like it to validate their feelings. Just read these comments they have the dismissive comments that are being said in every thread without actually trying to understand why people didnt like it.
I haven't been able to reply to comments for the past few days because my internet was down, but it's my favorite part and what I missed most while I was gone. I'm not here to just throw videos out and move on, I love the interaction. And thank you, I was really starting to think that there was something wrong with the whole "Love it, hate it, let's outright fight about it" thing. I have nothing against anyone hating it, hell, I have the same conversation about Phantom Menace all the time, but it's crazy how many people are jumping on others for having a different opinion about it. I guess it's just a sign of the times?

Hey Robo, is it just me or the quality of SHF human figures are decreasing? I dunno, like seeing Rey and comparing it to older figures like Luke, padawan Obi, Mace, the likeness, sculpt, paint, shading are better on the old ones. I mean it's a nice figure, but still.

I feel like S.H. Figuarts sculpts have gotten softer
It's weird for me I absolutely loved parts of the movie and despised parts of it. I've never been so split in my opinion on a piece of media.
There were parts I didn't care for at all but as time has passed I've thought more and more about it. The good outshines the bad for me at this point. I really need to to see it again.
+The Fwoosh It's good, despite me not liking TLJ that much, to see someone positive, someone who is keener on remembering the better parts of something. We need more people like this nowadays.
Kylo looks a little too short standing next to Rey in my opinion
Don't think that liking The Last Jedi makes you wrong. It took a lot of risks, and while I don't think all of them paid off, I have a lot of respect for the movie and really value its place in the Star Wars universe. A lot of people are frustrated at the "plot holes", but honestly a lot of them can be fixed if one thinks about it for just a minute or two. When a franchise takes risks like this, there's always a ton of backlash that is frankly an overreaction - we see this with Doctor Who as well in particular.
I'm finding it harder to be a fan these days, never know who's going to beat ya down for just simply liking something, haha.
I've felt this a LOT as a fan of DC, the Prequels, Rebels and Doctor Who. They beat you down because they don't want to consider the idea of their opinion being wrong, I think. Not to say they're wrong and we're right, or vice versa, but the negativity is really toxic and sucky. You just have to stand strong and keep explaining why you like the movie, despite people insisting you have to dislike it.

I don't know if social media is just making people a lot more rowdy in general, allowing them to fight to their heart's content and it just becomes second nature, or I'm just getting too old. I'm going to like what I like, but man it gets depressing when people just constantly try to slap it out of ya. I totally agree, I'm good if someone doesn't like it, more power to them, but why spread that misery. I don't like something, I say it and move on. I have other things to do than focus on the bad.

3rd worst Star Wars film IMO. I DID however LOVE the fight scene with the Praetorian guards and every scene with Kylo Ren in it.

Oh yeah, nothing wrong with going Black Series instead of SHF in this case. Both are cool in their own ways and about equal when it comes to shelf presence.

I mean they definitely deserve some criticism, but there’s a lot of cry babies whining about the movies for really stupid reasons.
i loved the movie, Prob one of my fav star wars movies now. And i enjoyed finn and rose too. Everyone is just so salty about star wars, it's surprising
Yeah, it's crazy to me. I mean I REALLY love Star Wars but if I felt it was bad, like I do about Phantom Menace, I'd simply just move on and not watch it much again. Like I do with Phantom Menace. And even that, I still want toys and will browse through it if it comes on. This whole "IT RUINS MY CHILDHOOD" oddness weirds me out.
