- I wasn't going to get the Toys R Us exclusive Hasbro Star Wars Black Series Jedi Training Rey on Crait. I passed on it twice. But then I got it. Because I'm a sucker. I had to know. And while it's pretty great, it's also not super exciting. Gaaaaaaaah!

Fyi, cuticle scissors work really well for detailed trimming on cloth goods.
So I picked this up this weekend, and out of the 9 at my TRU, 2 of them had totally different paint on the face. The eyes are way nicer, and the blush is a little more noticeable, and there is a more flat finish. It really looks a lot more like the actress. The actual figures face looks even better than the pics on the inside front flap of the box.

I found this version of Rey at TRU this past weekend for $12.00! Overall still a great figure with the environment stand. Need to get Kylos next since I have Snoke.

I quite collecting all the newer Black Series figures. I decided to collect only OT figures from now on
"Die-cast" has become a confusing term... It really means "cast from a mold (die)" but has become an abbreviation for "die-cast metal" like we had in the 1970s when the oil crisis made plastic expensive for awhile. All of our action figures are "die-cast" (they weren't carved individually). The toy makers really ought to specify "die-cast metal" when they mean metal parts.
I also was thinking of just waiting for the SHF version , never bothered with the regular release but then I saw the BS Luke w/Ahch-To Island base at Target and thought that would look good along with this Rey. Damn you Hasbro.
Yeah, they are good at that. I got the Rey but planned on skipping Kylo and Luke, then I saw Luke's base and it looks super nice. Grrr.

I didn't want this one very much before... but now that Toys R Us is closing, I really do want it. I'm betting they've all been sold out by now though. I would love to get one last "Toys R Us Exclusive" labeled toy before they vanish.
My TRU is in the final stages of shutdown, closing next week, and there were a couple of these around the store. Should be the same at other stores.
Assuming it’s some sort of polyester, you could risk running a flame along the edge of the cloth to keep it from fraying any further. I don’t know if it’s worth doing that though.
Hmm, interesting, I didn't think about that. May char the edge slightly but it wouldn't hurt the look at all.

I was going to buy this until I figured out that I could achieve this same look by gluing a towel onto my Rey figure and placing it on top of a pile of ham.

I have to say, I feel a bit disappointed in myself to only now appreciate how much of a better design this Rey has, and will either get this figure or the original Last Jedi version.
I was too focused on the loops' presence being carried over to this design while not noticing the better symmetry and more raised position, making the whole lower half low better. The added colors also spices things up.
I went to TRU yesterday to get this and the ML: Hydra Soldiers 2-pack. All I saw was about 2 dozen Black Series Constable Zuvios. Saying I was raging would be an understatement.
Master Shane Sim I was lucky enough to come across ONE of these on a random day, but I've NEVER seen the Hydra 2-pack in store.

I got the kylo ren exclusive from walmart. I like the look of him compared to the force friday version. But i mostly got it for the base that attaches to snokes throne lol
I've seen that at several Walmarts now, looks good but I am out of room when it comes to throne room, heh.
I feel like Hasbro should have waited to announce the face printing stuff till ToyFair 2018. I would have grabbed this one, though, if figuarts wasn't releasing one soon.
I thought about that too, but I think they wanted to get the word out there as soon as possible to get buzz going. I mean, it may have hurt sales in the short term but it's boosted the overall confidence in the line a lot.
I hope Hasbro make Rey face look okay or just right on the last episode version (2019).
The Galaxy Edge exclusive Rey from the Smuggler's Run 3-pack will be your best bet. That one has the printed face tech

I can’t get Sh Figuarts Rey in England. I’m not ordering anything from Japan anymore after the incident with my SH F Kylo Ren and it’s my birthday soon. I really don’t know whether to get this or not. It’s sad that the Rey with face print comes out in March! Can someone help me make a choice?

I like the Rey figure, it has improved when compared to the other black series Rey figures. I believe the gray fabric has potential....perhaps with some alterations. Not particularly a fan of the very black skirt because it should have been a dark charcoal grey (off black); the pure black looks off with the outfit. I will wait for the new black series figures with the new technology. Thank you for the in depth review the figure Fwoosh, as always it was very informative. :)

RandomCanadianGuy there is suppose to be yet another version early next year that has the new face scan tech so I would recommend waiting on that one before picking which one to get.
If you're deciding from the 2 that are available now, get this one.

Ugh. I'm truly bewildered as they (Hasbro) aren't using that photo real technology or whatever its called. I mean the ones I have seen with it are just amazing, and it makes me want to get all the figures that feature it, but the thing is I don't really care about any of the characters they have done it for. Why they would do it randomly for Marvel but not for Star Wars (Arguably their BIGGEST license) is just beyond me. They could have introduced it to TBS for TLJ merch launch and gave us some really great looking figures but they didn't, and it doesn't look like they will for quite a long time. How frustrating.
It's kind of crazy just how separated the Marvel and Star Wars teams actually are. Hasbro Hong Kong brought Photo Real to the Marvel team first because Legends is a mix or both movie and comic, it wouldn't affect the line as a whole to start doing random movie figures until it looked great, and then move to do all movie figures that way. The SW team didn't find out about it until later, but apparently it's a hell of a process to convert the factories over, which is also separate from the Legends factory. And SW being what it is, it's going to be every figure, not a random few. I'm hoping when it kicks in next year it really kicks. It should be spring we see Rey and Rex and then a lot more to follow.
The Fwoosh Really? I never knew that they had two completely different teams for the brands. I Mean it does make sense but still. And yes I sure do hope they start doing this by next year, it's very needed and I think they could seriously start to compete with the import stuff.
Yeah, and the feeling I get is that they rarely mingle. Talking to them it's like two completely separate companies. I got the scoop from the Legends guy about Star Wars possibly using the tech, while standing 10 feet from the SW guy and the table that had two examples of the tech. I went over to ask and boom, there was Rey staring me in the face. Not saying it's bad or they hate each other, just two different worlds completely.
The Fwoosh How odd, I guess I always imagined that the Star Wars team talks to the Marvel team and vise versa. So if I'm reading that right they have tried the photo real tech with the Rey then?
Yup, they were displaying a Rey and Captain Rex with the Photo Real tech at SDCC this year, with a projected release date of Spring 2018. They said it would be start with many more to follow.

The Rex that was exclusive to HasCon didn't use the Photo Real, the standard release will use it.

What I don't get about the Rey figures is why come with two lightsabers, if there's no place to store the hilt on the figure? No belt clip, no side clip, nothing. I mean Kylo comes with two sabers and can hold his hilt on his belt. So why doesn't Rey???
I think it may be due to the movie design itself. She never set out to be a Jedi. Of, course, this is her in JEdi Training gear, it probably should have a place for a hilt. Hmm, interesting. I didn't think of that here because the diecast hilt doesn't have a loop.
The Fwoosh True to that but I mean why include a removeable blade if the hilt doesn't fit anywhere on the figure? I'm mostly referring to the Black Series Last Jedi Rey. I mean the hilt does have the ring on it, so why isn't there a place to store it on the figure? Not a big deal or anything, it just bothers me at times. Like the first Kylo Ren from TFA Black Series, his blade is removeable but nowhere to store the hilt on his belt, whereas you can store the hilt on TLJ Black Series Kylo, and he comes with two sabers. WTF Hasbro? Lol! Also, I don't mind the cloth on the figures but to me it works for certain figures like Vader, Ben Kenobi, Kylo Ren, maybe Luke not sure. But the Black Series Rey looks good in plastic clothing. I don't see a problem with that and there seems to be no hindering to her articulation when posing her. Again, some cloth looks good on certain figures but not on all of them.

Come on, you actually believe that Hasbro will improve? While they STILL HAVE NOT IMPROVED on giving their female characters from Star Wars or Marvel Legends DOUBLE JOINTED ELBOWS! lol! Only that recent Leia figure got the double joint treatment.
From what I've been told the double jointed elbows, at least on the Star Wars line, is Disney and/or Hasbro higher-ups telling the team that they would prefer cleaner cuts and less lines. Single hinge elbows are less noticeable than double, even though they move less, and also do away with another cut at the shoulder. Notice the males mostly went to the same elbows. But besides that, the biggest gripe about the line has been the face paints, and if they can match what they showed at SDCC, then yeah, I call that an improvement. Well, there's also distribution. And in some cases, character selection. But baby steps, man, baby steps, haha.
