Not sure why people make a big deal about adapting to the left-hand rear brake. I can't be the only one that rides mountain bikes. It felt very natural to me and in fact I prefer it especially for technical riding
I've been putting left hand rear brakes on my dirt bikes for exactly 20 years. Much better than a foot brake in all scenarios. Another thing about electric bikes, or very quiet bikes is that you can actually hear your traction. Once you learn what you are listening to, you can find traction with that sound.
@motocash yeah I've been riding electric since the 90s. I did my first conversion then. Then I bought one of the early zero MXs in 2009. To be honest the main thing I like about them is the lack of maintenance.
What they forget to tell you is you can pick what ever you want or hell I have read some people have both on the same bike, you can order it with what ever you like, except in the US where foot brake is mandated for some reason... and also, would been nice if they had gotten someone a bit more capable on the bike, no offense to this guy in the video at all, but I am so excited to see this bike I wanted to see more of it but guess that will come :D
When I'm out in nature or heck even driving around in town I like the idea of being stealth. I like the idea of low maintenance and ease of use. For me I just want something I can hop on quickly and drive around town splitting traffic to run some errands or just mess around. I also like being considerate of other's who may be out enjoying nature hiking, biking, fishing, etc and may just want to enjoy some peace and quite and not be annoyed by loud dirt bikes going by. I'm just not into the whole riding all day on a dirt bike a few hours is enough. So this should be more than enough. Unfortunately the price is a little outside my toy budget but who knows maybe I'll justify it.
Most my enduro/single track ride are no more than 5 or 6 hours max. I can see myself replacing my excf350 for a star varg in the near future. I have no pleasure messing with air filter, oil change and valve check. I already have a small electric dirt bike (surron ultra bee) so I’m already sold on the no clutch and rear brake on handle bar.
I didn't know that about Snr Bulto's estate and Stark. I rode trials on a couple of Sherpa T's, and owned an Alpina or two. As a Bultaco fanboy, it's always been a place I'd love to visit.
This must not be a full production spec yet, I noticed the gear selector is not the new one for the EX where it has the turn signal stalk, headlight control, etc.
thanks Ron for a good quality review on the EX. I was curious if the suspension would be better for off road dual sport / enduro style riding. The bike you rode, did it have the bibs in it or tubes?
Looks like the grey bike phone briefly shown with the top latch in the video has much better visibility than the one you were riding. Matt screen? That's good to see. I can't see my shiny dull Varg phone at all with my polarised sunglasses....
Where I’m going to ride it barely has cell coverage. It definitely doesn’t have electric vehicle chargers. But I can bring a MSR bottle with extra gas!
Imagine it's 2024 and you go all the way to Spain and you bring this camera. I just had a seizure lol. STARK is cool. Needs to do something different with the throttle wire. Offroad, that sucker is exposed.
Hear me out. Why not put the front brake on the left? I ride a mountain bike much more than a dirt bike. if the bike is going to have motor braking in the rear, seems like it makes more sense to have the front brake on the hand without the throttle.
Hopefully they come with the plate turn signals. But the US models will have the conventional style per US laws. Same with the foot rear brake per US laws. But they will send you a rear lever kit for no cost if you select hand rear brake when ordering.
@@DirtBikeMagazine Is the motor of new Varg having 20% more capacity? I've heard that the battery has 20% more capacity, but nothing about the motor. Is this correct information in 1:07?
What are you talking about ? It’s a new model ? So how did it get more expensive? Do you realise that it costs more than the mx version just like every other bike brand ever ? Also start dropped the price of the varg by about $2000 dollars, you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about 🤦♂️ I paid 18k for mx bike when they came out and this enduro one is cheaper than what I paid !
Really poor quality overall. Not much info, super bad video quality with extreme shaking and probably a bad "guessing?" about an extra battery costing half what the bike cost, $6450, when the old battery is $2999, i dont think thats the case... why should the price on the new battery be double the old one? Nahh, not a good video production at all from a company with the name "Dirtbike Magazine".
Well your wish may become true. Personally I'd rather still be able to ride than to be excluded trail access due to noise complaints. To me the idea of perhaps getting more trail access or more public acceptance is more important than the sound.
Cannot handle the noise that it makes is it the gearbox that makes the winding noise do they need to put helical gears in it I think it's the gears that make the noise from the motor to the one speed transmission I think that's the wine it makes I would rather listen to the purr of an engine which has its soul
More importantly is which sound the neighbours around your riding area prefer. Loud 4 strokes with the low pitch noise that carries much further than a 2 strokes has been the worst thing to happen to legal riding areas.
Keep in mind the microphone is probably picking up more than you will on with helmet on, I like the noises of many electric vehicles and bikes, sounds like a high performance RC car or something and while its different and not maybe what we are used to, its cool in its own way sometimes, just watch electric rally cross cars or what ever it might be, its like a 1:1 RC car on sterioids and it makes it cool even if we dont get a big ol V8 or flat six or what ever we are used to!

@@murdoch9106 I'll have both on the EX when it arrives. I like the foot brake option, even though I almost never use it.
For my needs, electric motorcycles make more sense to me than electric cars.
Electric cars are great, electric trucks can't tow, but the vast majority of 1/2 ton owners don't tow.
I own a Rivian R1T and tow with mine all the time. Alternating between 2 jetski’s and a boat
Eventually you will be able to fast-charge your electric dirt bike with your electric car.
I have one ordered. Cant wait

no color correction on the talking head footage either. wonder what happened with this video

It ain't for everyone but if you ride only 4 hours or so a day this is the perfect bike. March can't come soon enough!
Proper off-road monster, love it. Stark did amazing job with it😊
This is a game changer. I can go can just about anywhere undetected

The ability to charge at regular charging stations that regular EV's use on the road would be a game changer. They need to get on that ASAP.

Pretty neat about the public charging. Plug it in, go inside, come out, the bike's gone.
Hahaha!! I was just about to say that!
Least stolen vehicles? EVs. Can be tracked anywhere by their owner instantly.
I see the Bulto influence in the Stark Varg with the Taco Red color and the 'Boat Tail' style rear fender! Nice!
It reminds me of going to the dentist office and getting a root canal
Lmao ...true

im in the market for dual sport.I would consider this bike.
I will not miss the brakepedal but I will miss the clutch-modulation. Is there no way to give us a "virtual clutch" similar to the e-throttle?

I wonder how heavy it is to pick up when dropped.
Can these be charged off an electric car (Tesla) charger?
I will have one of these.

Seems like it's not a production version so the real version will be finished with the controls etc

Funny I know lots that ride their duals 300 + a day. Done it myself when I was younger.
Stark. Please develope using ev charging for instance at the Walmarts in some cities of America.
So you wouldn't need a charger or cable? I can't see that happening unless it's a no heavy dedicated road bike model
Good video and really informative, but it would be a great idea to upgrade from your GoPro series 3. Riding footage is horrendous!
So only 4 hours of run time on a a super low power setting. Seams really low range for a dual sport bike.

Cause electric is more fun
Cause KTM is bankrupt and may not be around next year
