Great vid, but this is a time test, not a range test. Please be transparent and post the mileage for 1 lap (I didn’t see it in the video). Most trail people plan rides based on miles/km- not anticipated time. I understand the point you’re making- for amateurs the ride lasts longer. Other tests I’ve seen only post a trail range of about 35 miles, that’s not satisfactory- my 300 will do 70+. Match that and you’ll see more purchases, including me.
You are not wrong, would be interesting, but also only the range wouldn't tell you that much. The track conditions, uphill / downhill etc. You wouldn't be able to compare it directly. If your track was mostly downhill with some steep climbs, the varg would regen a lot. The other way arround your range would look way different.
the type of range test you are talking about is very subjective too. depending on the type of acceleration and what the held speed is. generally speaking 35-45 miles is the norm when on open trails. on hard enduro I get around 5 hrs run time but that only equates to 25 miles. it's short bursts of power through technical sections. on a deep loamy motorcross track I can murder the battery in 40 odd mins. You both make valid points, but mileage gives an approximation to plan off of, time does not- that’s the main thing I’m getting at. 35-45 miles is still pretty unsat. Gas is still more consistent and predictable (probably always will be), but hope the tech catches up to being close. I imagine these things are sweet.
You are correct 35 miles is about the range 70 even 60 would be perfect. I will say that 35 miles I ride my Varg is amazing and for me worth it. But I also have 2 other dirt bikes.
Would be great and it has the chance to really be road legal (real horsepower in registation etc., not like a 300 2 stroke, because it has no co emission; EU rules). Could be the perfect bike, even for Supermoto etc.
Why did you choose that power setting and regen? Is this a sweet spot for range? I’m struggling to finish a 1:40m hare scramble. What power and regen do you recommend?
It's a great bike, but having 3 people on the payroll "test" the range and lie to your customers this way just sucks. We know they barely make 1.5hr hare scrambles, sure 6hrs is possible if you take 3 hours of brakes, but then just say 10hrs with a dinner break in between. Your initial 6hr 110kg promise mislead us, things often don't work out, but don't try to throw sand in our eyes now that we can ride and see the range is clearly overstated by 2-3 times.
Speed is everything. I can empty mine in 35 minutes deep sand MX. In hard enduro i could do 4 hrs and just drain it to 40%. They're on the paylist but the full video is also here. I don't feel they lied in this video.
@@SouthCentral-re9bn then just look at the pro if that's your level. Ca 3 hrs of on a few seconds breaks continues riding. Thats a lot in the hands of a pro. They announced they would do diverrent terrain tests, with this of the first of a series. As long as they follow up on that promise i don't see anything wrong with this.
@@Erwin-P he had a battery swap in the middle. Stark PR has been mostly BS so far (member that 110kg claim too?), hopefully they change there ways, but not super hopeful. Fingers crossed as I really like e-bikes and stark is the best right now
@@SouthCentral-re9bn In this video's 3hr test was no battery swap... That 110 kg turned out 118. Feels about 10kg lighter as my Beta 2 stroke, so i'm happy with that.
I absolutely love my stark here in Australia, keep the vids up, its bloody awesome the CEO is out testing with the pro's, absolutely awesome product 🤘🤘
Yeah I would also consider a Stark if they made lighter bikes. Ofc lighter might mean less range but something like a surron ultra bee from Stark would be sick
I would love to have the buttons, like a quick shift, so you could have different throtle curvemaps. You could emulate gears, like splitting the full throttle curve over three gears and max throttle in each is limited to a max RPM for example have it in 1 to get about 0-33%, 2 for 33%-66%, 3 66%-100%. Beeing able to customize of course would be a big plus. I think having all RPMs in only one throttle is too sensitive in some conditions.
sooo.. you guys gonna come out with a lighter model soon? Or one with more range? Or one for endura with built in tail and head lights? Or is it one model and we are calling it?
I use mine mostly for MX, but I do occasionally do some Enduro on similar terrain in similar conditions as shown here (just north of Barcelona). I set it at 45BHP with regen at 65% and I get around 2 hours. I am definitely an amateur-level rider. I'm not suggesting you are lying, but I have no idea how you just got 5.5 hours? When I ride there are open sections where I blast it which I'm sure will drain the battery faster than a more "trials" style of riding...but 3.5 hours difference?
Stark would’ve made check mate if it was designed as a duo battery which you can choose to take one out - to keep it light and a bit more nimble when you want too.
Hi guys ! I would like to know if there is a real regen of the battery if you do a long down hill with the regen set up at 100% ? I am in the Alps and trails have big elevation… Thank you !
While almost all of the staff in the office has a past in on two wheels and know how to ride really well, the last 2-3 years hasn't allowed much of riding to keep up with the conditioning. Kian was pretty sore to say the least after this one! haha!
I am picking up a stark in a week, I am a little worried about the paper thin cheap tubes , have any of you had issues with them? Did you swap them out? Did you go with heavy duty or normal tubes? Ive ran mousse tubes but I feel they would be a little draggy on this bike, might have to go tubliss.
We haven't planned to do that is it's not a bike that you normally would ride that way. But I believe there's a VLOG out there doing exactly that test.
I think the pupper would podium iron giant, no worries :) would love to see: softer, lower suspension for those mortals who are not long limbed viking gods plated for road a facility to drop in a battery quickly, that way the fun can still keep funning as long as there were replacement batteries, they could be as side panels/tank panels or a motor/battery redesign to facilitate this - the varg pack :)
Great video. Did they say how long (distance) each lap was? I have no doubts from comments on the forums that a Varg will last long enough for one of my group's "normal" days, but I'm curious how many miles they did here.
Think the couple of guys I know with them better send them back then, theirs can barely scrape 2 hrs turned down to 30hp riding with pit bikes. It’s odd how 3 employees can ride one for the exact amount of time (6hrs) they claimed in the hype documents.
Totaly agreed, lost a third place finish race because the bike was in lip mode after 30 km at 30hp. Worked for an 1.15h and couldn’t complete the 1h30 race. The bike wasn’t able to take the rare hills.
These dudes are always full of shit, it's spitting in the face of customers with this "oh you can do 6hrs, just take 4hrs of brakes to fix your makeup for the film crew". It's a great bike to ride, I just wish the bosses would stop this PR BS. Like people are buying these and know full well what the range is
Wet clutch like an EM, or some sort of E-clutch that is WELL programmed to mimic a clutch. Also, street legal available kit. Then I will buy one. It’s still far too moto oriented. And maybe the swingarm pivot joint attached to frame and not engine case. That’s a definite failure area. Awesome bikes nonetheless, though!
@@stefan-ge I wanted to like this bike. By my estimates it needed to have at least 12kWh of storage to be competitive. Too expensive for to little energy
@@TelmoMonteiro it's not really a price thing as it is a tech thing. the only reason electric isn't in a completely different galaxy than gas is because the battery. the motor technology is all there, but the battery is the least efficient part. the varg is literally pushing as much electricity as technologically possible at the moment into the smallest space they can
@@AutisticOrgy11 I completely agree! What I wanted to emphasize was that in order to be a no brainer choice, battery technology needed to have twice the capacity. We're not there yet

its called lying, dont you find it strange how 3 stark employees get the exact riding time they claimed in the marketing blurb? yet guys i know that have them struggle to get 2 hrs even with them dialled right down to 25-30 hp. its also not difficult to make a "ride" last 6 hours if you hamming it up for the camera and brushing your hair for hours.
@@SamuelGunnestad the race where he was allowed to swap bikes /batteries whilst racing against amateurs? That race is maybe 3 hrs long he should have been able to do it twice rather than need to swap.

The other race was faster and longer, so he would have to change battery. I've never claimed that he could ride 6 hours on one battery, I'm responding to the claim that they are lying about the range. In a hard enduro setting, it's not unlikely that amateurs get that kind of range. I have a Varg and get under 2 hours on the kind of enduro I ride a lot of. I also wish the battery was bigger so I could race enduro with it
Form South Africa, i have a Stark use for mx Moto's I'm a vet, does not last. 25 mins then less than 50 percent, have to charge to get back out again. I use the almost the same amount of fuel in my generator as i would in a 4 stroke bike. Love the bike but not happy with the battery.
It’s great to see that they have tested the Stark Varg with amateur women but it would be great to see them run the Stark Varg with men as well so we can see an accurate depiction of what it may be like for us guys out there. 👍🏼 Just a thought. 💭 Not trying to be sexist at all just curious how this bike performs with men riding. 🤔 Who’s on board?
Range is totally down to the rolling resistance. On the hard ground it lasts alot longer especially going slow on terrain that allows you to go so slow. Lower amps needed at slow speed on hard ground. On soft sand, where you can't go slow and rolling resistance is high, I get less than 35 kms at average 35kmh. 1 hour riding. On harder ground with some soft whooped stuff about 1% per minute is used. 100 minutes riding time for a full battery and less than 60km range I've found I imagine on hard road surface with street tyres you would get +100kms?? Did they publish how many kilometres they did?
If only it had a clutch like Electric Motion. None of my fellow enduro riders including myself could compete without a clutch. Throttle response time can not substitute spooling up the rpms and releasing them in a controlled manner. That’s why Electric Motion incorporates a clutch. They’re core is trials but the same needs extend to enduro of course. You’ve got the capital now. The bike needs a clutch.
Seen people with their stark after 20min moto just having 7% battery life left...many complained that their batteries quickly aging and lost sooner power every ride
I get a good workout and a hard day of single track with 1.5 gallons of gasoline....I'm thinking the Varg battery will be WAY more than enough for a guy like me.
I think a lot of commenters may not realize that this is essentially ideal conditions if the goal is to maximize hours ridden. While the terrain is rugged, this really is relatively low-horsepower riding.
Over the next couple of weeks we will have tests that is less flattering for the VARG. It's all about transparency and to make sure that we test with riders and environments that can be relatable to our customers.
Put a set of typical enduro lights on it as well as somekind of noise to scare animals that could be switched on or off, and I'll run and buy one right there !
Since you guys are making the bike in Spain, cross the border and do some real life testing or even have a rental/ demo test on events like "Arcos TT" in the north of Portugal, is always on the 3 weekend of march and lets see how the bike does there, and make it represent the actual buyers, not the 75kg miniature guys
…and cost as much (or more) than the Varg, but you’d have a removable/swappable battery and massive aftermarket options. Pros/Cons to both. Tho neither has a clutch :-(
@@-joo3033 with a rider that has the same experience it might... ,45kw/60hp 49kg bikes power to weight is 1.22 but a vargs in 80hp mode is only 0.77, surron with a 60amp hour battery can get up to 100 miles while a varg can only get 45-50

@@SouthCentral-re9bn then just look at the pro if that's your level. Ca 3 hrs of on a few seconds breaks continues riding. Thats a lot in the hands of a pro.
Hard enduro for me has a lott of standing still because well, my own battery isn't as big as the Starks or the fuel tank in my Beta.
Fingers crossed as I really like e-bikes and stark is the best right now
@@SouthCentral-re9bn
In this video's 3hr test was no battery swap...
That 110 kg turned out 118. Feels about 10kg lighter as my Beta 2 stroke, so i'm happy with that.
where can i buy that dog
Probably on the top of Mount Everest on his 5th run of the day
If I may ask, 7 laps - how many km was that? My out of the blue estimation with average speed 15km/h and riding time 3h so around 45-50km?
I can get about 60 to 70km of mixed desert riding 30kmh average. But I weigh 120KG with gear.
I absolutely love my stark here in Australia, keep the vids up, its bloody awesome the CEO is out testing with the pro's, absolutely awesome product 🤘🤘
how much m8?
My dream bike amazing video guys ❤
Somebody knows, how much horsepower there where riding?
Can you imagine stark making surron size bikes? It will outclass any ebike out in the market at the moment.
Yeah I would also consider a Stark if they made lighter bikes. Ofc lighter might mean less range but something like a surron ultra bee from Stark would be sick
Was this test enough to release something to tune the throttle curve in near future ? 😅 love my Varg 👍
Or is it one model and we are calling it?
awesome video!😃
I respect that dog.
Can this bike be street legal?
There is a web site if you look at the surronster videos for varg he talks about getting it Street legal
@@Oneshotloser thanks man
Stark would’ve made check mate if it was designed as a duo battery which you can choose to take one out - to keep it light and a bit more nimble when you want too.
I love varg ❤
I've had my eye on a varg for so long. Wish I could afford, but for now it's just a fantasy. One day...
is that a new bike version with a bigger bettery or what is the diffrence between the two bikes
Does it have a clutch?
No bud
Hi guys ! I would like to know if there is a real regen of the battery if you do a long down hill with the regen set up at 100% ?
I am in the Alps and trails have big elevation…
Thank you !
Yes, the regen back to the battery works as in a normal EV.
Hi
Where is this bike made ... ?!
Do you have a website to buy a Stark Varg ?!
Thank you very much
You boys can ride!!! Thanks for sharing the gnarly diggers. That's a sign of trust and honor in my book.
While almost all of the staff in the office has a past in on two wheels and know how to ride really well, the last 2-3 years hasn't allowed much of riding to keep up with the conditioning. Kian was pretty sore to say the least after this one! haha!
What power mode is the grey one? in
I am picking up a stark in a week, I am a little worried about the paper thin cheap tubes , have any of you had issues with them? Did you swap them out? Did you go with heavy duty or normal tubes? Ive ran mousse tubes but I feel they would be a little draggy on this bike, might have to go tubliss.
I swapped out for heavy duty tubes. The stock tubes are interesting to say the least
Could you do a test to see how many km you can do with this bike at an average speed of 50 km/h
We haven't planned to do that is it's not a bike that you normally would ride that way. But I believe there's a VLOG out there doing exactly that test.
What were
the HP and Regen settings for the ride?
My Varg go aprox 1 hour at motocross track.
I think the pupper would podium iron giant, no worries :)
would love to see:
softer, lower suspension for those mortals who are not long limbed viking gods
plated for road
a facility to drop in a battery quickly, that way the fun can still keep funning as long as there were replacement batteries, they could be as side panels/tank panels or a motor/battery redesign to facilitate this - the varg pack :)
Great video. Did they say how long (distance) each lap was? I have no doubts from comments on the forums that a Varg will last long enough for one of my group's "normal" days, but I'm curious how many miles they did here.
Deep sand motocross test with an expert rider please
Like people are buying these and know full well what the range is
@@SouthCentral-re9bn the guys in the uk arenacross had 2 bikes each because the batteries couldn't do the 4 7 min races on 1 battery.
@@jonathanthorngate5214 what do you mean, they clearly can do a full 45min outdoor haven’t you read the brochure? 🤣
Guys, I do about 120km of light enduro. Can this bike take it on just one charge?
no 50km is more likly
@@TelmoMonteiro yeah i know what you mean. gas is still definitely ideal for very long or remote rides, but i think once electric is there it’s just better in every way
Great video. Is this a precursor for a road legal enduro version? 😊🎉
now do motocross renge test please
Both sand mx and hard pack mx coming up.
I have to be honest. The dog was the most impressive out there doing laps!
How about the total mileage of that race?
Can’t believe the dog kept up
I dont get how the pro gets this much out of the battery.
I ride motocross, 45hp, 65 regen, and I get 35-45min on mine before limp mode.
I'm a B rider, a bit on the slow side.
It's in the rocky HARD enduro track. Makes all the difference. Your figures look correct. Hard pack could last a bit longer
its called lying, dont you find it strange how 3 stark employees get the exact riding time they claimed in the marketing blurb? yet guys i know that have them struggle to get 2 hrs even with them dialled right down to 25-30 hp. its also not difficult to make a "ride" last 6 hours if you hamming it up for the camera and brushing your hair for hours.
@@jonathanthorngate5214 Watch the video of Eddie Karlsson in Battle of Vikings competition and tell me he is "lying"
@@SamuelGunnestad the race where he was allowed to swap bikes /batteries whilst racing against amateurs?
That race is maybe 3 hrs long he should have been able to do it twice rather than need to swap.
@@jonathanthorngate5214 In the first race he did 2 hours 20 minutes with 30% battery left. Second place was Magnus Thor, not an amateur.
100 minutes riding time for a full battery and less than 60km range I've found
I imagine on hard road surface with street tyres you would get +100kms??
Did they publish how many kilometres they did?
Ofc they didn't, this is a PR stunt by employees to sell bikes, not a test. Sometimes you know the most from what is left unsaid.
Love my bike so much power i would some pillion pegs to carry a passenger through
If only it had a clutch like Electric Motion.
A set of hand guards might be nice ..
Please already announce the street legal version!
For an amateurs on a closed circuit it my suit but in countries like Australia you will need double that range
Seen people with their stark after 20min moto just having 7% battery life left...many complained that their batteries quickly aging and lost sooner power every ride
Stark dual sport please
I get a good workout and a hard day of single track with 1.5 gallons of gasoline....I'm thinking the Varg battery will be WAY more than enough for a guy like me.
I think a lot of commenters may not realize that this is essentially ideal conditions if the goal is to maximize hours ridden. While the terrain is rugged, this really is relatively low-horsepower riding.
Over the next couple of weeks we will have tests that is less flattering for the VARG. It's all about transparency and to make sure that we test with riders and environments that can be relatable to our customers.
Just can’t get around the RC car sound. Maybe a speaker that makes two stroke sounds as you ride.
Put a set of typical enduro lights on it as well as somekind of noise to scare animals that could be switched on or off, and I'll run and buy one right there !
Cool stuff, battery life all depends on the average speed. Under 15mph and it should last pretty long.
Best range: Stark Hund 😂
10/10
Me traerian una argentina? Estaría dispuesto hacer un canal solo para la moto y así publicitarla
If they are amateurs, what am I??
Kians face !
Where is traction control? I hear a lot of spinning.
It was never said what the setting were for the test.
please send me one to Colombia I ride hard enduro I trust you and I love the bike, conditions down here are different, help me get one!!

You coudl buidl a surron with a higher power to weight ratio
Wich still wont compare...

Amazing machine. Plan to own one someday. I just can’t justify the price. I ride all mx for now. IMO there is no such thing as a 10k dirtbike. But hey if you guys keep shelling out for it they’ll keep charging you for it.
As experianced in riding on different types of trails an electric bike comsumes very little if the average speed is low.
So, you should do like three test. From low average speed to high and then show the results.
At least show average speed beteen amateur and pro in this video.
have you seen the gypsy 500 race with the varg, i thought that was intersting.
