At 1:30, Taiwan President Lai Ching-Te is not "suggesting" that China use force to recover land taken by Russia. He is using that example to point out that China's aggression against Taiwan for "territorial integrity" is merely an excuse for China's actual intent to become a dominant world power. If China truly cared about territorial integrity, then why no action against Russia, which historically annexed over 1,500,000 square kilometres of land from China, but instead keep harping on Taiwan which is only about 36,000 square kilometres of land?

If they take a chunk of Russia they will lose Taiwan. Right now nato is bogged down in Ukraine, if Russia is not there they can go full power on Taiwan. What’s left of Russia will be taken over by the EU. Then China will be sandwiched between the US in the east and EU in the west losing a lot more than what they took from Russia. I don’t know if people are just wishful thinking or really that stupid to not be able to see what would actually happen.

Russia is selling those resources to China at a discount already, a war would be more destructive and costly than what they are paying now. In addition Russia is providing the free service of a buffer zone against NATO. If NATO wasn’t fighting Russia they would be fighting China. The chinese probably do not need to do this the hard way: They already have considerable economic sway in those easternmost parts of Russia and they can for example start demanding "better treatment" of chinese speaking minorities in these area - a classic playbook. They can slowly but steadily push for more and more local chinese influence in these areas and build up to a situation where local politicians in the area "demands freedom from Russia" and then the ball is rolling. Russia is not really in a position to oppose such things very strongly, not economically, not politically and certainly not militarly.
Just think about this. Russia may have to depend on the United States to protect its back door.
