      Bigdogs stage 2 iron heads, Bigdogs stage 2 cam and our stage 3 ported short runner gt40 style manifold is a winning combination that is HARD to beat!! Stay tune and you will see more results

    Aluminium heads are always better....for removing money from your pocket. Over the years, I've spanked plenty of big dollar motors with alloy heads with modified factory cast iron heads. Just because it's cast from aluminium, it doesn't mean it's better

    • @bigdogsportingtonyb2833
      @bigdogsportingtonyb2833  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Exactly!! On top of that many of the Aftermarket Aluminum heads don't hold up as far as durability wise. We see so many that are pitted and eaten away by coolant and also warped and wear out faster. They tend to only last for 20,000-30,000 miles before issues if that

    • @msk3905
      @msk3905 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How much money do you have in your iron heads and do you think that you would have run faster if you started with a pair of aluminum heads rather than iron heads before maximizing your setup and working your heads? It comes down to the setup so yes there are countless people with mismatched setups running slow with aluminum heads then there are those who know how maximize a setup along with put that power to the ground running damn fast with aluminum heads.

    • @bigdogsportingtonyb2833
      @bigdogsportingtonyb2833  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @msk3905 a customer can get their set of Gt40P heads fully stage 2 ported with our upgrade PAC valve springs for less than $720. That's not even our Stage 2 max porting! A set of tfs 170 as cast heads are currently $1,650-$1,800. So for the average street/strip guy looking to bolt on a good performing head onto his 302/306 that want to last over 100,000 miles then our stage 2 gt40p heads are the better deal. Besides they can always buy one of those ebay turbo kits and make 600-650whp lol. To me I can't see myself spending almost $2,000 on some heads that only flows 245-250int/175-180ext at .600".

    • @msk3905
      @msk3905 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bigdogsportingtonyb2833 there is definitely a place for those GT40 heads and I get your point but i paid $500 for my worked E7 heads then $1200 for my twisted wedge (some time back) and what I experienced was a significant improvement in performance after swapping out. Going fast isn’t cheap, what I learned was don’t skimp on heads and cam all my opinion. Also, as so many do I ended up building a 332ci stroker after I feel that I maxed the 302 combo that the Twisted Wedges supported.

    • @bigdogsportingtonyb2833
      @bigdogsportingtonyb2833  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@msk3905 what were the flow numbers of your E7 heads? That's my point. Go look up the price of as cast tfs 170s, they will run you $1,700-$1,800 now. That's my point. We are not talking about your worked E7s with no flow data that's using the same bench to flow both heads. We are talking about our stage 2 ported Gt40P heads that are flowed on the same bench using the same fixtures tested the same way and the majority of people have 302s or 306s not stroker motors. See you don't see what we see as a manufacturer. When you are talking about tens of thousands or millions then there are far more people running 302s or 306s than there are people running 331, 347, 363 0r 408s combined lol. What we are doing is bringing high level porting to the market at a much affordable price which people are not use to, same as with the manifolds. Before us you would had to pay $2,000 or more to get what we offer in our stage 2 porting on iron heads which was out of the question for most so that's why people are in shock now but many well known and respected porters knew what the iron 40s and Ps could do. No one in the industry is offering so much porting and services to those heads at our price except us. To get a factory ford iron head with the valve size of 1.85/1.46" to flow what we get them to flow is not common and we are doing them in production. We will do a direct flow comparison video against some common aluminum heads to show you. I've personally ran 10.80s on a set of our Stage 3 Race prepped Gt40 heads that flowed high 240s/195s on a friend's SF600 back in the 2010s.

    Peak flow is only part of the equation, flow dynamics, port velocity, reversion, low lift flow characteristics, combustion chamber flame travel and quench etc all play a role together for overall power output. Just like all the engines they build in magazines...they advertise that peak number, because it sells the shit out of parts. You gotta look at the rest of the curve. When he swapped out the stage 2 ported gt40 heads for SVE's theres a possibility it may have made slightly more peak Horsepower for sake of argument, but probably not, but it probably gutted the low end torque and midrange power , knocked all the meat out of the curve. 289/302s are ultra sensitive to intake runner size and intake valve size. Too big, and you'll have a torqueless pooch. Sub 450hp you are better off with a smaller intake valve and port that is professionally ported, blended and tuned via flowbench like yall do, then a large as cast port and large valve. Same thing with Cams and Carburetors too .... Bigger ain't always better.

      His et and mph were both down. He said 3 tenths and 2.5 mph consistently. Our stage 2 ported iron heads are nothing like the average porting most have seen on them. We do a whole lot to them that is on a different level. Our short side shapes are designed to work with our valve seat angles and valve mods, our roof and bowl height and shapes are designed to boost the ports discharge coefficient nature, our chamber work and shape is designed for a good balance of tumble and swirl and improved scavenging. We do certain mods to aid in the exhaust scavenging of the chambers to allow a bigger percentage of incoming air/fuel charge. We have a lot of R and D into iron head porting.
      The SVE heads has terrible exhaust and lower lift flow especially having a 2.02/1.60 valve setup which is exactly the opposite of what you want in a head. If the head can't get rid of all the spent gases then there's less room for the fresh mixture to occupy results are less power. On top of them retaining less heat(energy).

    Honestly , up to 450hp for a street strip deal even with a 331, a prepped ported and carefully gone through GT40 head is hard to beat. Especially guys like me running small cubic inch windsors in heavy vehicles like trucks and vans and sedans. If you must have aluminum, get afr 165s and have them ported. Youll keep your Torque and throttle response. But you gotta stay on top of cooling system maintenance and valvetrain adjustments. Aluminum heads dont have the longevity for street burners like a iron head does.

      I have as cast AFR 165s on a 393w, bought it from a friend who built it as a Tq engine in a '94 RCLB 2wd ZF5 S42 F250 with 3.55s, bas a lightning lower, Explorer upper BBK 70mm TB 95 Cobra MAF, Doug's long tubes, Y'd into a 3.5" MBRP diesel single, 185° tstat, electric fans, converted to a mustang Sequential MPFI instead of batch fire, 1.6 rockers, 5.0 HO factory cam. It makes great tq, falls on its face past 5000rpms, decent on fuel, will run 87oct with Octane booster, gets 12-18mpg between empty and towing depending on city or highway. I would guess it makes 350-400hp 450-500tq depending on the tune and fuel. I really want to put more cam in it, port the heads or go with TFS 11R 190-205cc heads, highrise single plane, Holley Sniper or 850cfm carb. Have also considered a $1400 Scat 408 stroker assembly or building a custom 4.030" bore 4.25" stroke 434 stroker bottom end with an extra '97 351w roller block I have . If money was no object I might buy an aftermarket block and build a 4.150" bore 4.25" stroke 460w. The only thing these days that makes a big Windsor build less appealing is the new 7.3 Godzilla blocks which are $1,500 for a new short block $650 each for new assembled heads and stroker kits available from Callies up to 4.250" bore 4.6" stroke making a 522ci stroker.

      No, you're not understanding the comparison. There's a lot more to consider that most don't understand until it's too late and exactly why their combos under perform. It takes 100lbs to equal 10hp and the difference in two average aluminum heads vs two gt40p iron heads in weight is around 35llbs. Our stage 2 Explorer gt40 manifold is 5-6lbs lighter than a Systemax 2 manifold as a companion. Also our ported Iron Gt40P Heads makes more hp than the SVE heads when using cams with .540" lift or less and the stage 2 ported Iron Gt40P Heads are more durable, don't fall apart and last a lot longer than the out the box SVE heads. This is exactly why we port and sell so many of them. You'll be lucky to get 30,000 miles out of a typical set of aftermarket aluminum heads before they need some work vs our stagec2 ported Iron Gt40P Heads that will last over 100,000 miles. We see hundreds of heads a year and these aftermarket aluminum heads come in beat up, pitted, seats loose, warped, bad valve jobs and not flowing what they should.

Now what I did see come in my shop were heads INSTALLED incorrectly the first time without checking pushrod length and setting up rockers not centered on the valve. Now your DEFINITELY gonna get heads that wear out guides and beat seats to death early from not setting up your valvetrain properly. Pitting in the coolant comes from the owners using hard water and not the correct coolant. Now that happens all the time with OEM aluminum heads.

    You are making all good points and your flow numbers below 0.300” are impressive but it comes down to the setup and setting up your heads correctly, sorry but you put a set of E7TE, GT40, GT40P, etc. then put a good set of aluminum heads in someone who knows how maximize a setup and work heads to maximize performance they will always run faster with the better flowing aluminum heads. Back in the day I had a set heavily ported E7s with 1.94x1.6 vlvs that was a blast, ran great and made 270rwhp then upgraded to just TF Twisted Wedges with same cam, put down 304rwhp with more torque across entire TQ curve. 100% street car and was breaking tires much quicker and more frequently. Next I wanted to maximize that setup so installed a cam better suited for heads and saw more TQ gains along peak HP jumping to 317rwhp.

As cast tfs 170s are good heads and we've ported over a hundred of them yet their out the box average flow of the as cast is only a few cfm from our stage 2 gt40p heads considering our stage 2 gt40p heads have much smaller values which makes them the more efficient, lower costing and longer lasting head.most of the popular streetable cams lift is below .530" so flow at .600" lift means nothing to the majority. Your heavily ported Iron heads that only made 270whp must have not flowed well because our stage 2 ported Gt40P stock valve heads routinely make 340-360whp with our stage 2 kits (will providea link to one). This is why we provide before and after flow results because we know all porting is not the same. We've also seen a few of our customers make as much as 380whp with our ported Gt40P heads and a more aggressive setup on 306s. Our porting on these parts is different from Others and we wish people would stop thinking there're the same, because there're not. How many porters have you seen get a Explorer gt40 manifold to make over 400whp naturally aspirated in a street car besides us? That's my point😊

      This is a car that's running our complete stage 2 gt40p kit and on a Dynojet with a T5 without a computer tune and full Accessories it put down 352whp/349wtq. Hp peaked right at 6,000-6,100rpm and was held back by the factory rev limiter. We setup this car ourselves in the shop as it was not setup and dialed in correctly from tge previous installer. Most don't know how to dial these combos in for peak performance.

      We are still stocking our inventory and setting up our new shop equipment to handle the click and purchase orders once the website goes live. It's going to be awesome!
