No, but you don't have to replace the entire transmission, just the damaged gear, I would have replaced the third gear, cylinder looks ok for just honing, or bored out for an oversized piston, replace all the engine bearings since you already have access to them and they aren't a big expense, or at the least replace both crank bearings. I would have rebuilt the engine, much cheaper than replacing it.
@@mattkeno2405 main problem is that some gears aren't available anymore. Ktm don't have them and as far as I know noone else produces the gears. Otherwise we would have bought the damaged ones and repaired the engine.
@@bikedogtor1663 Oh I see... did you look into getting a custom made third gear?... I got a custom gear made for a very old honda, took the damaged gear to an engineer and he made a new one, it did cost about $300 because of the time involved, but solved the problem.
@@bikedogtor1663 hello mate, I did redbuild my engine days ago and I've the same problem with the 3rd gear, I replaced the 2nd and 3rd gears, that looks exactly like yours, and have to replace the conrod! Crankshaft and piston/piston sleeve was ok, I replace all the bearings, timing chain, and other small stuff, it comes about to 1100€, most of the parts like the gears and conrod I bought in a website of Spain, they have almost all the parts for the bergs, it tooks about 3 months to get it all but it's possible! If I was you will prefer rebuild my own engine than buy another, because in the end you know what's inside of it and what you've done to it!
I'm debating this at the moment too. The pros: You know what you're putting in the engine (what manufacturers). You can understand the engine inside out which helps with trouble shooting. You can gain more following (especially from a you tube channel) as a husaberg rebuild engine is the video that a lot of people are looking for but can't find (there is one but it is time lapsed and has around 25K views) You can help others with suggestions You're not paying for labour Cons: You have no guarantees Time consuming A prebuilt engine is quick to install in comparison to building your own There's a lot more but if I had a TH-cam following like yourself, I would consider doing a rebuild for the growth of the channel. Great video!
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to write this great feedback. The one in the video was a spare engine just in case the main engine fails. Or no, this engine was in and failed so the spare Motor was mounted. Anyway we decided to sell the overheated one because it's not necessary to have two motors atm. An engine rebuild video may comes if the main Motor fails.
Hi all your videos about the Berg are very interesting!!! You mention you get full rebuilt engines for 2500€ , where? I don't think that a full rebuild could cost more than 1,5K max..
Hi, thank you. There is a husaberg specialist in Germany who rebuilds and sells complete engines for said prize. A full rebuild is more than 1500 in parts already.
Hey I’m considering buying a pristine 2002 Husaberg FX 650 and converting her to motard. Good idea or bad idea due to lack of parts availability? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
@@4R1P5R issues are mostly valve springs you should replace them with dual valve springs from Kibblewhite! Would you rebuild the engine even if the spare parts cost nearly as much as a completely rebuilt engine?

From private engine builders in Germany. I guess husaberg is not as common in the us?
