Hi, Which camera would you recommend if I'm just into clicking photos & not videos? I'm more than a beginner but less than an intermediate photographer. Also, I'm looking to move from Canon to Sony but not totally sure on it. My Canon camera broke but I still have the kit lens & EF 50mm f/1.8 STM prime lens.

Do I get any benefit going with mirrorless ? If yes what do you recommend? I did lot of research for all these camera. Finally settled canon r50 and R10. Sony is good but they are overdue for quite some time. Which one you recommend ? Both are good . Better to buy one good base camera or start with R50 and invest on lenses ?

Disappointed that none of these are beginner entry level prices. I’d never recommend someone just getting started to spend $700-$1000 on their first camera.
I see what youre saying....but i think thats "palying it safe" and that will hold people back. If you wanna get into photography and really get good at it and enjoy it. Get a good camera, if you buy a cheap camera that not up to par with modern specs youre going to be left behind. My first camera was a canon xsi in 2008 and I shot everday got atleast 2 hours. And I was shooting paid wrok with a canon 5d mk II within a year. You have to bet on yourself
@@TechThroughTheLens this is ridiculous. If you wanna get into photography and and really get good at and enjoy it, you need practice. To suggest that “you’re going to be left behind” is misleading. You can get good image and build quality from a camera and a decent lens for less than 350 dollars on the used market. That’s how I got my friend on photography and is a much better way to start someone on photography than by recommending an initial investment of 700 dollars just on a body. And even worse, you are being reckless in your recommendations of these cameras by omitting the lack of aftermarket for the the EF-M and RF mounts.
Photography is expencive, and it is based on quality / budget so I do not think he is on the "wrong" at all here. If you don't have a $700 and just want a camera for the sake of it, I would probably just start playing around with my Phone. I mean there are cameras for around $300 aswell, but can you at this pricepoint really make a difference from a Phone?

Thank you for the informative video. I'm planning to upgrade from a smartphone camera to a camera but I'm still unsure which to choose. If I prefer a good low light performance, fast shutter speed, and a color/details that are closer to reality (which i know is subjective), for a budget of under $700, what camera would you recommend? Most likely used for casual wildlife, landscape and travel phototaking.

If just for photos I highly recommend Canon Eos Rebel T7. Great photos, and it can shoot FHD at 24/30. For 400 comes with 18-55mm lens, which is great value.

I think that Nikon Z30/Z50 has a very bright future ahead of them. Sigma is making their "trio" for Nikon's Z mount.
I'm still in dilemma between Sony A6600 and Nikon Z30/Z50, especially when you can find Z50/Z30 with TWO lens in a kit. Don't know if it's worth the higher price for Sony.
Also, Fujifilm XT30 II and Panasonic GX9 come into consideration, primarily for stills and not video.
I like the fuji and the z30/z50 the best. Sony is overdue for an update on the apsc line up for cameras

Which camera would you recommend for someone thinking about creating videos in the kitchen (food content) ?
Goal is to shoot it during lunch time, on a tripod (maximum light) and I don't want to worry about it hunting focus and therefor reshooting material.
Not really care to much about stills, sure it would be nice if it could but the videos quality is of most importance.
Definitly something from canon for the natural colors. I like the r50 ont he budget side or the r8 on the expensive full frame side

For wild life you need something much faster I would go with a m50 that has 10fps in photos

honestly, i'm completely stuck. i'm starting photography again (i say again, but basically from scratch as I did it when I was much younger and I don't remember much), and i started off looking at the canon 2000d (rebel t7) as it is canon's most affordable dslr at around 400 pounds in the uk with the kit lens, 350 body only. then i got to watching some videos, and found the canon r100. the r100 is around 500 with kit lens, 400 body only. that seemed like a good option as it is their entry level mirrorless camera.
i watched some videos on that camera, and the general consensus was to just skip it and get the r50 as they cut off too many features to justify the price of the r100. the r50 seems extremely good for the price at around 660 with the kit lens, 500 body only. it has so many features for that price that it just seems like the best option. i've looked at every inbetween, including other brands. sony is just ridiculous honestly. even getting one of their older models is even MORE expensive than the r50.
i just don't know if i'm ready to drop 650 pounds on an r50 with the kit lens, even if it does seem like the best option in terms of price to performance. it will be my first interchangeable lens camera as i used a panasonic bridge camera when i was younger.
there is one thing that completely baffles me too. the r100 and r50 both come with the same kit lens, however the difference between body only and kit lens for the r100 is 90 pounds, whereas it is a whopping 160 pound difference between the body only and kit lens version of the r50. why? they are the exact same lens and it makes no sense to charge more just because the body is better.
right now i think that i am just going to go for the 2000d, as that is around how much i am willing to spend. it just seems like such a shame as compared to the r50, the 2000d is lacking a LOT of features, such as dual pixel af, articulating screen, touch screen, and it also has an extremely old processor leading to poor low light performance.

Always wonder why Canon M6 Mark II is always missing on these type of reviews. The camera is a beast for its price definitely better than canon M50 markII and can go toe to toe with EOS R10. Such an underrated camera.

@@TechThroughTheLensPrice has fallen on the 2nd hand market for the M6 II - so that's less of a barrier if the decision is between M50 II and M6 II. But if you're literally entering the ecosystem I agree go for the R10 (or maybe R50 if an absolute novice) and skip the M50 II. Coming from an M5 which never felt like it warranted an M50 upgrade for my use case, I was trying to decide if the R10 was worth the leap but with all my existing glass it felt worth it to hold on with an M6 II for a bit longer. So far I'm more impressed than lots of the reviews would lead me to be.

4k 60 won't be possible int hat price range. The closed camera are the canon r7/ sony fx30 and canonr6 / and fuji xt5/ fuji xh2s
@@TechThroughTheLens Thanks for those recommendations, I checked them out but none of them clicked for me. During my research though, I came across the new Panasonic S5 II and that thing has definitely caught my eye. Since I'm in no hurry, I'll wait a bit for a potential GH7 with hopefully phase detect AF if it materializes and that would be my ideal choice.

the eos rp and the fuji xh2s are wayyyyy better! the rp is the best way to get into full frame photography. And the xh2s is a powerhouse of a camera ready for proffesional work.

For beginners used ones will also be suitable and affordable. Panasonic G7 and G85 are good ones except for video auto focus.

I'm not sure you understand what up sampling/oversampling is. You can't up sample from 6k to 4k. To start with, if you want to up sample something, you have to go up, not down. That's down sampling or decimation. Also, you can't down sample from 6k to 4k and still have 6k image quality. Its impossible. The fact that you end up with a smaller file proves it. To get to 4k, information has to be removed from the original file, and discarded. Its a lossy process. Once removed, you can't get the information back.
If you up sample, the same rules apply. For example, if you were to up sample from 4k to 6k, it can be done, but its not the same as recording in 6k. When you up sample, non audio and video information is added to the file to make it look like a 6k file. The thing to remember, is you can't get something from nothing. If the information isn't there, it can't be 6k quality.
To be clear, I'm not saying you shouldn't up or down sample. In some cases its good to do these things. Its just that the quality can't be the same.
Hey , I think were saying the same thing but maybe differently. Im basically saying that there is a significant quality boost from sampling an 6k image down to 4k.
@@TechThroughTheLens Going from 6k to 4k can only be worse. Its a lower standard and the process lossy. To make the conversion, an algorithm literally removes data from the original file and discards it.
It works both ways. Once you downgrade to 4k, you can't go back to 6k. The information needed to make the file 6k was thrown away in the down sampling process.
