best beck album next to Steropathetic Soul Manure...I've been nodding off to this song since 95 and this is the first time I've seen the video.thanks for posting this!!
'1 foot...' is what I'd define as a GEM in its purest. well, i dont really know how to put into words what this album has meant and means to me, besides that.
Beck was legally able to record and release indie material simultaneously while under contract with his major label. Talk about the best of both worlds. One Foot In The Grave is a lo-fi/indie masterpiece. Moody, stark and surreal. Good luck in finding a copy! Realeased through Calvin Johnson's K Records.
Oh man, blast from the past. I think I downloaded this from Truck's website back in...1998? I never saw it anywhere else but there, except for IRC, and I'm pretty sure they got it from there too. Good lord I'm old. Beck is awesome.

Yeah definitely, One Foot in the Grave really is great...especially "He's A Mighty Good Leader", "Cyanide Breath Mint", "Asshole", and "Atmospheric Conditions"...yeah and steropathetic is a pretty damn cool album too...ah 90's indie, so tasty!
According to Whiskeyclone, this one was just written for no reason in the basement of a place they were recording at. They just had a nice little jam that stuck.
can anyone confirm that his backup singer in this album was 1/2 of Halo Benders??? i'm not sure if i hear both of them. if so can anyone tell me they're names. (bought this in a used cd store)
is this an original video from this album? the people in the shoot are also on the cd's liner notes, so it looks *official* in that sense. did someone just paste pictures together over an mp3 of the song?
No worse than any other religion, it's just that people have gotten used to the horrors of Christianity etc. over time. Regardless, Beck doesn't strike me as some kind of fundamentalist or religious nut given his lyrics and songwriting.
RIP Sam Jayne, co-writer and vocalist on this song
yeah, this is still my favorite beck album. I don't even have it on cd, just a tape I copied from someone else. so good.
RIP Sam.
this is when beck was at his best... a guitar and his voice, THATS IT!
Oh how I miss the acoustic lo-fi days...
Best album beck ever did
i love the purity of beck's earlier songs
good old Beck from early 90s, probably. If yes, so I do miss him too, although I still love Beck anyway.
This one gives me goosebumps.
this will never be matched and the level of reality and soul poured in to this whole album will never occur again
there is a newer version on YT HOWEVER its audio is sped up...
THIS IS THE ORIGINAL version and i thank the uploader
The world just doesn’t think this way anymore

This is a very deep song.
I love one foot in the grave!
CRANK IT UP...CRANK IT UP...Stark, minimalist, haunting, surrealist sonic beauty.

suddenly had to reach for this tune.
I find similarities in One Foot In The Grave and Sea Change. They are both Becks greatest work.
Nice work!
Dig the Sharpie on film!

My mom used to frequent Whiskeyclone when I was a kid. Seeing that name in 2020 is a real trip.

The other singer on this song is Sam Jayne, RIP. Calvin Johnson from Halo Benders sings on some other songs on the album.

Lol
@piakchu ...not.
I thought you were suppose to judge a tree by its cover...
hardly... its a mix of folk and acoustic rock. or do you actually mean individual when you say indie?
It really isn't.
The beginning of this song sounds very similar to Damon Albarn's History of a Cheating Heart.
I don't care if he's gay or a scientoligist just as long as he does'nt vote republican
