We’ve been running power cats on the roughest coast in Hawaii for 45 years. The NaPali coast, Kauai. Nothing absolutely nothing is better than a power cat in rough water if it is designed correctly.
Molokai was a Leper colony in Hawaii. In 1872 Belgian priest Father Damian shamed the cynical establishment into helping and treating the abandoned lepers. It was made into a film "Molokai: The story of Father Damian" (Belgium 1999) Starring David Wenham in the title role.
Kalaupapa is the name of the city on the the Hawaiian Island of Molokai where the Leper colony was. There are many other things on Molokai beyond the old leper colony... Just saying. This boat designed was developed specifically for crossing big water Hawaiian channels by a builder on the Molokai Islands. (Which happens to have the Leper colony) Feel like your comment may confuse people to believe it is named after a leper colony on the island of Molokai. which it was not.
All the other power cat's I have driven with this speed capability are 20+ year old designs so not a fair comparision. The other cats had a scary tendency to dig a hull at speed going down big waves which this Molokai did not do so that gave me more confidence to run at speed down swell as you saw here. I need to test more current design high performance cats to get a better feel for the competition before I can comment with any experience. This will happen when I get to the States as they have a lot of good power cats over there.
Well done! You’ve convinced me to consider that model!
Oh cool! I'm happy to hear that

I reckon power cats in Hawaii would be awesome. Not been there yet but i feel like we have some similar conditions here in Australia too.

Your walkaround video on this boat is featured on Aquila's website. Nice work
Oh cool, I did not know that!
How does it compare to other catamarans?

Why does this thing look like it could do 60mph?
Molto interessante, grazie
No worries
Awesome boat! but the price? $400k
I believe $350k but always best to speak directly with dealers by following link in the description. That boat had the upgraded motors on it
If you're in America, a World Cat 26/28 or Caymas 30 CT are the better buy.
