When the water is like that, maybe try a big twitch bait like a Yo-Zuri inshore twitch bait or maybe a Bucktail with a 5” trailer. It works for us east coast guys
Not going to give away your spot but when I saw the beach I knew. I walked that beach everyday for 5 years worked there 13 years. There are some good holes were you stopped and turned around. Best finishing I even had was right there but haven't been in years.
Edward, Great editing from the 3rd person feed to your chest camera. Also, nice job not smacking the mast for that camera either!! It looks like it follows your movement, which is cool when you point somewhere and the camera follows. Excellent video (as always), and thanks for the great explanation on the value of wave power strategy. Tight lines!!
Great vid man, the edits continue to get better!!! Loved the on-screen pointers and flash to Leroy doing whatever he was doing over there😂 I’m sure you are eyeing prime Thursday wave & tide as much as we are! I hope to run into you out there sometime man!
Haha thanks! That means a lot the effort doesn’t go unnoticed. Thursday looks okay but the fact Wednesday is 1000 wave power doesn’t exude confidence the fish are stacked… possibly good striper fishing though… Friday is looking better because it’s the second day of good wave power. Then from Sunday on it’s trash… 🫣
Edward, I notice that you removed all the spinner blades on the calissa lures. Do they work better without them? Also have you tried switching the treble hooks with inline hooks on your jerkbaits?
Enjoy the video. Nice suggestions. Wondering why more people don’t use conventional gear. I’ve never been a fan of spinning gear and it seems like a high speed Tranx 200 might be a better solution?
Good question! I threw casting for a few years. 13 fishing z3…. Eventually it will succumb to the salt faster than spinning and has a higher chance of failing in windy conditions and overall. Spinning is just king in the surf.
As long as conditions are good, all year long you can find a good bite so you’re right. November is great because water is still warm and baitfish come close so it’s some of the best jerkbait opportunity all year.
SHould be soon when them big black belly slabs come in, they love them jerk baits and when they come in, you using that size lure you usually dont have to deal with them dinky size perch. I commercial fished for years for Surf Perch but blew my back and neck out, man i miss it, so fun getting up early and going each morning.
Hi I was wondering if you can help with my problem.ive been using the carolina rig i learned from you with your green swimbait, the problem I'm having is my mono leader line keeps wrapping around the braid line everytime any tips to stop this ? Thx
@@Hook2Cook Just wondering I was out that same day ....went towards Cayucos , used Carolina w the Red Paddle tail , Battlestar 115 , Swim baits the Ribbed w weighted hook - I pitched everything I had and SKUNKED ... Go big or go home 🍻, My best advice is try using spoons. How you use the jerk bait and c rig is how I use spoons and jigs and I have a lot of success… With metals you have to let it pause and hit bottom, most strikes are on the drop or on the pop off the bottom
@@Hook2Cook No kidding! I am X Santa Barbara fisherman. I fished SB for 10 years 1980-1990 or so, every weekend on the COndor, Seahawk or hornet and surf fishing, pier fishing. Lots of surf perch barred, rubber lip etc. I would have never thought they would hit such a large lure that's why I asked where. I'd throw that plug for flatties but would never think surf perch would hit it. I learned something from your video. good luck
Get in the water to yer balls… fish more parallel to the shore. When fishing the crankbaits I have way more bites dead sticking. Also, give some swimbaits a toss. My best day in VC many years back was 22 butts with 6 legal. 🤙🏻
😮Toss a 2 - 3 oz. Kroc, chrome Hopkins or Kastmaster on a stiffer rod. Maybe you'll land it on a legal fatty, piss him off and he may strike back. Be sure to take him to dinner!

Great video…..I like the over head shots
I agree, overhead shots help visualize the water!
Come try southern Cali!!! Santa Monica, Malibu and so on!!! It's way harder down here, water isn't that deep either.

@ thank you for your insight, it’s been fun to watch how your videos have progressed from the early days. Well done.
Picked up the 5 pack of 140's from Amazon 2 weeks ago. Better deal then buying them separately. Nice heavy rattle like the Battlestars.
You stay slaying 🙌🏾
@@FishingWithJRome you too bro. Keep up the straight forward genuine content.

Is now (November) still a good time for surf-perch fishing? By looking at your channel, it feel like whole year-round is great, lol.

@@Hook2Cook appreciate it! thank you!
@@Hook2Cook What about just setting up a double hi-low rig with squid. Or is cut bait not normally effective for surf-perch?
@@Hook2Cook is using a 2 loop hi-low rig effective at catching surf perch with cut bait? Or is really only more effective with a jerk or swim bait.

I always try to keep it as simple as possible, but that is a great point, thanks for the tip!
In beach current? Gmfb
@@Hook2Cook Try using conventional. It allows you to give instant slack when the current pulls hard, and instantly reengage the drag to set the hook.
@@Hook2Cook how are the hooks on that "CDM" bait⁉️ 😂 save even more, by C Direct Market from TEMU.
@ yes, it slays… spoons have more flutter for calm days, diamond jigs for rough days 🍻
