i know i'm late but the difference is that an ecosystem is what surrounds the communities of certain species while the community is what is within the ecosystem thats the easiest way i can put it

I think it's a misconception since some illnesses that are caused by protists are confused as being bacteria based, so that's why many may think that it is prokaryotic. So, no he is not right to say protists are prokaryotic b/c they have a nucleus and organelles are bound by membrane
