Also, i am NOT American, and Cord Cutting options and services in my country are different than in yours. In my country we don't have very expensive live tv services like youtube tv. Anyone can use antennas to get locals. if someone is close to the boarder in Canada, they can get American local stations and Canadian locals. We also have the Canadian Netflix, Paramount Plus, and Discovery Plus apps, just to name a few services that we have.
Hulu live is my favorite. The algorithm is absolutely amazing and A&E is a must have channel (missing from TH-cam tv). The price of Hulu no ads is $15 or so with tax and it has been a must have for me as long as I can remember so if I subscribed to TH-cam tv tax and all I’d be looking at $85 with both services. For $83 tax and all I can get Hulu no ads, Disney+, espn+ and Hulu live tv. It’s the clear winner for me.
Great video Michael. For the record, I’m not anti-commercial. They paid my salary for years! It just seemed like one of the earliest sales pitches for streaming was going commercial free. Now there’s a rush is to weave limited commercials into streaming services. Now they’re all going after an already fractured TV ad marketplace. It’s going to be interesting to see how things shake out.
Yes, I think the types of ads will have the evolve. They already have. They're shorter and more personal. I like how some services want to keep them to 4-5 minutes per hour.
Always like & watch your channel. Lots of good advice. I like the FireStick 4K Max device and recommend it highly, especially if your in the echo ecosphere.
Congrats on your 50K + subs. I guess the rest of my life I will be watching ads. I just couldn't take Pluto and their ads so I uninstalled it. Freevee is probably what I watch most. Crackle it a good one too. Thanks for the update, Michael. 🤗🤗
where i live in Canada, the TV plans are different for cable and satellite. We used to have bundled plans, but the cable and satellite companies were forced to unbundle cable channels, due to a requirement for them to let customers have more choice. Which means that Canadians can pick and choose the channels they want, and leave out the channels that they don't want, but are still forced to pay for their local CTV, Global, and CBC stations, just to name a few, and a few cable channels they don't watch.
Great video as always Michael. We know what cable TV pay for channels like ESPN, but it would be very interesting to know what Streaming services like TH-camTV and Hulu pay for it. Streaming services are becoming way too expensive. Thanks again.
Lots of useful info Michael, thanks. The main thing for me with these stand alone services like HBO MAX is that I WANT ad free streaming when I subscribe to one, so as long as they leave us with that option, I don't have any issues. I think ad supported was inevitable because of prices getting much higher on ad free subscriptions, but you can bet that they will raise the price on ad supported subscriptions, just like they do with the ad free versions. My concern would be getting overloaded with adds as they start looking to "maximize profits" like they always do, and the show basically becomes a commercial that keeps getting interrupted by a program. Also, I always recommend TH-cam tv to anyone who asks me about streaming instead of having cable, so I also think it's the best PREMIUM LIVE SERVICE too, especially for new streamers.
The companies also need to cut back on content spending and be more strategic. That will happen over time too. What’s happened the last few years is not a sustainable for the long haul.
@@MichaelSaves That's what TH-cam tv did, and I believe that is PART of the reason they haven't raised prices recently. They stopped making all of their original content. I never watched any of it, so I don't know if it was ad supported or not, but I would think that it had to be ad supported. All of that original content is VERY expensive to produce based on what I've seen. IMO they made the right decision and were able to hold their price, but I still think that a price hike will happen sometime this year.
Michael, I have 2 homes and was wondering if/which streaming services will let me stream at either home. Currently paying both Comcast and spectrum for cable services and i am hoping that I could go to 1 streaming service and just have 2 internet bills/mo. Thanks for all the great info!
Wow, great video! Michael I liked that you shared your favorite streaming channel, HBO Max. It's mine too, now I'm just debating whether to switch to the ad supported plan come renewal time in September. Which version do you have? Also appreciate the online checking info too, I need to learn more about that. 🙂👍
I have the ad-free plan, but I waited for a deal. I may end up with the annual plan because I have so many shows that I want to watch and not enough time. Other than HBO Max, right now I have an annual Discovery+ and I think a few days left of Netflix. I have TH-cam TV for an extensive video I'm working on, but this is the time of year when I normally would pause a live TV service until fall.
Thanks for another information video. Just wondering with more viewers using the antenna for over-the-air programming, do you have a favorite OTA DVR device? If not, will you be testing any in the future? To me I like Tablo, but TiVo and Amazon Recast are viable options
I want to try Tablo. I hope to buy one this summer. As mentioned in the video, I purchase everything that I test. So that is the only reason I haven't purchased several of them and done reviews already.
The one and only thing I miss on my Roku from my Fire TV is a full-featured radar app. Fire TV has MyRadar while Roku STILL does not, years later... and while a few apps that have general radar views are on Roku, nothing has the detail and ability to zoom in and out and move around like MyRadar. Considering how many different great radar apps there are for my Android phone, it seems like at least ONE company would make a quality radar app for Roku. 😠
Seriously considering cutting the cord and going with TH-cam TV. Your videos have been extremely helpful in making my decision. My only remaining question is in regard to audio quality. My main tv setup has a full 5.1 surround sound system. Does Roku and TH-cam TV support surround sound?
Yes but I believe it depends on your device though. Roku Ultra def supports 5.1 surround sound. TH-cam TV has been rolling this update out for a long time so best to test it during the free trial period. I know Roku is part of the latest batch of devices.
Love your channel. I haven’t cut the cord as of yet. But I have a random question…. Why don’t you ever mention Crackle as a great free service. Honestly, I fill Crackle is a great alternative to someone that didn’t want to pay for Netflix.
I should mention it more. I used Crackle a few years ago (when it was owned by Sony). I will explore it more and include it in a future video about free apps!
Hello Michael. I don’t know if you can answer this question. I see where xfinity and t-mobile are offering internet services. Do you have any opinion on those services? Thanks
I've had Xfinity internet on and off for many years. It's been good where I live, but a lot of people want to get away from Comcast/Xfinity. T-Mobile Home Internet is emerging. I have a video on it and the comments section is probably more useful than what I say! (I tested it, but the test didn't go so well.) th-cam.com/video/_hVioEWrhdA/w-d-xo.html
Services like HBO Max and Discovery+ have fewer ads than others. I think Paramount+ runs too many ads. Hulu is somewhere in the middle I believe. Apple TV+ has no ads and is $4.99/month.
I recently started TH-cam tv. I have a TCL roku tv. When I turn on the TV sometimes it does not connect to the Internet right away. And I have to wait or either connect it myself. It wasn’t like that when I first got TH-cam TV but it does it quite often anymore. Any suggestions?
If I get Roku and subscribe to TH-cam TV, will I need my IPad to bring up the TH-cam Tv app on the tv or does roku provide that feature? Now I cannot go to the TV for TH-cam Tv. I have to connect through my IPad.

I have verizon fios bundle and would like to cut the cord. I would probably keep verizon as my internet provider. I have wifi extender i rent from them any recommendation ton how to replace the extender. Also my wife like HGTV and law and order which services would you recommend?
Most live TV services have HGTV and you can also get Discovery+ for those shows. Law and Order is on NBC, so antenna is cheapest. If no antenna, I would look into TH-cam TV and the free trial.
HBO MAX + Discovery+ would be nice IF it only adds $2~$3/mo. I have canceled Discovery+ more times than I care to think. I seriously doubt that the services will stop offering a more expensive commercial-free option.
For me Netflix is basic and then added Philo (because of AMC, History and Discovery plus content) and plain Hulu which supplements Philo with FX, ABC and Fox shows the next day. My comment is for hulu live, why don't they have the extended extra mins to add on the dvr like cable has. Instead it will count down how much time you have left before the show cuts off. I really hate that one thing about hulu live. Now it doesn't do that on all of my recorded shows just some of them. But I would still like to have the choice to add 5 mins, 15mins or 30 more mins for my recorded shows. Because right now hulu controls how long you can dvr your shows without the extention added on.
