In elden ring, they're replied with transporter traps. There aren't many of them, but just enough to make you paranoid in first playtrough. They usually transport you into a very difficult area of the game that you usually aren't prepared for. For example, first one you probably get throws you in middle of Caelid, of all places.
Yeah, bad luck with bad position. Right in the spot where dismount area is half-way on ground and half-way on stairs, so cannot get off to the back of horse. Cannot get off to right of horse, because ground level is too high, due to horse being on stairs. Cannot get off to left because not a flat enough ground. Just one or two steps forward would have solved it, but when things hit the fan, it's an easy thing to slip the mind. Heck, sometimes it takes even just a small slope for game to think "Nope, can't dismount here, no valid ground".
@@lorgrenbenirus if you just click left joystick, it makes your character get off in whatever direction is available. Typically it's right off the back. Most people forget that when they panic tho. Lol

If you don’t aggro the guard gargoyle outside and just go in, you can hit the grace and trade deathroots for incantations from Gurranq (the dude at the back of the sanctum). Be wary though, deathroots are addictive: so your basically giving Gurranq crack, eventually he’ll have too much and you’ll have to smack him a few times to make him see sense. Just be sure to forgive him when the prompt comes up.
