its cold diesels do not warm up idling which is why they high idle while in park that is normal if you want to keep it warm put something in front of the radiator to restrict airflow it will stay warmer 12 quarts of oil plus 8 gallons of coolant and the egr putting soot in the cylinders ( which is used to lower cylinder temps ) is going to lower your temps

Drew 5.9 I understand what your saying. I’m not sure that is the issue though. I can run down the highway for an hour at full operating temperature, when I slow down into town I will drop over 40 degrees in oil temp. Nothing changes in coolant temp. Once the oil drops it will slowly start back cup again. It only does it once or twice. After that it will stay at operating temp. It’s like a thermostat releasing or something

There is no oil temperature sensor on that truck. The computer is calculating its best guess on oil temp based on coolant temp and engine load. That number means nothing. Same is true for the engine oil pressure.

Thanks. If you have videos of your manual truck please post. Thanks again.

5k oil intervals seem really low. I have 335k miles on my 2015 duramax and changed it at 7500 most times and zero issues.

Chris Scott that could be the most miles in 3 years I have ever heard of. Some say it is low but like I said it’s user preference.

Being a novice how does a manual transmission effect the torque and horse power, or reduce it? It’s good to see a truck with a manual option.

Have you driven a manual Cummins? If so, what are your thoughts?

John Maher yes. My ‘14 was the G56 Manual. I really liked it for towing, did not care for it in town or stop and go traffic. I wish Ram would put a better clutch in them to keep from de-tuning the hp and torque. All in all for my lifestyle and the fact that my wife may drive it on occasion I like the auto. Hope that helps
