    This is an awesome breakdown. Also watched your drop test and thanks for doing that. I'm usually rough with my phones and sometimes go without casing, so definitely need one for this. Waterproofing is probably the one they mastered. I've brought previous versions of Note/s and Galaxy S/s with me on my freedives and my cliff dives, or just plainly swimming in the water, and can honestly say that their phones can hold up in depths. I even take underwater diving videos with them, so no question on waterproofability. The scratches and cracks though---totally different story. I get my phones scratched or cracked everytime with mishandling, and usually while taking action videos. So I guess this one isn't that different.

    For those who wonder why victus plus on s22 is more scratch resistant? Anwer is victus on s22 is completely flat and on s22 ultra is curve on tow sides and for that naturally a curve glass in production process pass some extra levels for being curve in sides and that process make it softer.

    I think the S22 Ultra with curved edges makes it have better durability for being ran over he should have ran over the non curved edge s22. The curves kn the phone for the Ultra make it easier to roll over I would think without as much damage

    Barely been 2 months with moderate use and I noticed the screen has got a few scratches here and there despite never dropping it or placing it with any keys, coins etc. I'm baffled as to how these scratches occurred. The bright side is they're only visible outdoor under the sun or when bright light is reflected on the screen.

    • @PBKreviews

      The process in which the curved glass is made, makes it somewhat softer as well so its more prone to scratched compared to the flat glass phones.

    For the in display fingerprint scanner, i suggest that try two set of fingerprint profile like the first one before the screen scratch then try scan it when the screen is scratch and the second is just like you did in this vid.
    Another one suggestion is just like the first suggestion but with water. like first one when the phone is underwater and the second one is when you have wet finger(or sweat) or any type of liquid like a oil from food, from working on the garage (even clean the hand it might still have a oil on it) or some everyday stuff that get on the finger
    These suggestions can be try on phone's that has optical fingerprint sensor and ultrasonic sensor like Samsung (that I've know of)

    Thata fucked up its showing scratches at a 6-7. You know what has exactly that hardness, and is literally everywhere on earth? Sand. Common fucking sand, probably the only thing in realistic day to day use that has EVER scratched my screen. Thanks samsung, next time instead of 1200 bucks you can charge me 1500 and make the screen out of a paper bag. Ordering screen protectors right now, gonna hope this thing lasts me the 5 or so years I'd like to use it.

    I would recommend doing the scratch test before the water test. You're wearing the oleophobic coating off before scratching it, which compromises it

    • @timurklc4431
      @timurklc4431 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats not true. Oleophobic coating does not wear off that easily. Alcohol can damage that, sure, but water? Not really.

    Great test! Wonder what is used on the S22's display if it showed up scraches at level 7/8, Samsung assures all S22 models use the same glass, yet S22U showed scratches at level 6/7. Quite disappointing.

    How does the scratch resistance compare to older models? I have an S9+ and have been using it without a screen protector for 4 years and there is only 1 very minor scratch on the display (after several accidental drops on concrete). I'm trying to decide if I need a screen protector on the S22 Ultra.

    • @michaelcorcoran8768
      @michaelcorcoran8768 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Honestly, there's really not that much advancement in glass durability despite all of the gorilla Glass marketing. There might be some slight variation in drop protection versus scratch protection each year, but generally gorilla glass is gorilla Glass.

    • @MrGatlin98
      @MrGatlin98 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaelcorcoran8768 that's kinda what I was thinking too. But this video shows that the S22 has better scratch resistance than the S22 Ultra which made me wonder.

    • @Muhammad-Jacobs699
      @Muhammad-Jacobs699 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, get the screen protector even if you don't feel like you need it. This will increase it's long term durability and re-sale value. Assuming you sell or trade-in your old devices at all.
