This CGI is so mind blowing when I watched this movie with my dad he legitly thought that they got an actor who looked like young Arnold, and he didn't believe me when I tried explaining to him its computer animation.

Arnold isn't (even at his peak) exactly the biggest guy around but his musculature is virtually impossible to find (he was pretty much one of a kind).

The fact that not only does his skin age (talking about the terminator not Arnie) but it's pretty cool that it shows that even the older terminator that's been around alot longer is slower and older that a newly designed T-800. It's a small detail but I think it's cool. You'd figure the battle would be equal still but no.

It just occurred to me old Arnold could’ve been waiting for him at the location he time jumped to, instead of just where he was trying to steal clothes.
But it wasn't him. It was just a different T-800 model with his same face. Same thing what happened in T3.
Basically as far as i understand it, "pops" is not the same T-800 that came through in Terminator 1. The T-800 that they intercept IS the one from Terminator 1. In other words "pops" didn't know exactly where or when the terminator would arrive, but he did know what it would do once it arrived - look for clothes. He could then use this knowledge to scan his memory for crime reports and find places where one or more people had been murdered and had their clothes stolen around the time where they thought that T1-terminator would arrive, which eventually led them to this scene
@@Fraggr92 Exactly, that T-800 would had access to the police reports from those days, knowing that around the time the Terminator showed up to kill Sarah, 2 guys where murdered and the third got his clothes stolen. That obviously would have been reported.
This scene was actually pretty well-put-together, aside from the punks. They did their best to re-create this sequence, but their part comes off as a bad TH-cam parody of the scene in question. 😂
Yeah they really didn't look at the first movie 100% correctly. There was the pauses between Arnold saying things and the punks saying stuff in the original and they're left out and it doesnt feel right. The actors could have at least done a better job to do their best to match Bill Paxton and the other 2
I like how they portrait the weight and strength of the two machines going at each other. The fucking deadlock push that made the ground crack beneath their feet was fucking awesome. I wish they would be this accurate everytime they make super powered, super heavy things fight in any movie. >_>
Not even the bodybuilder who played as the body for the young Arnold along with the CGI could even capture Arnold’s true size when he was in his prime, which is awesome

The color grading in this is so much better than the actual version.
I will say though, that they did an excellent job of the CG Arnold and with a bit more effort both in casting and writing this movie could have been a new classic.

1:50 You can see that the younger Terminator getting angry when he realizes the older one didn't finish the job after examine his data knowing that he's a older model or a duplicate of him.
I think the way Terminator movies got messed up is because of all these paradoxes the creators decided to make. Terminator was never about Paradoxes it was about destiny and I think they just got to focused on the science of things and not the metaphors. This is how the Terminators timeline was supposed to be handled: T1, T2, Terminator prequel (before T1 and explaining how the events led to what happened in T1 and T2). Cameron was even intending to end the franchise at T2. All the other terminator movies had the right idea but never the full idea. The closest ones are T salvation and T Genisys. But they still can't get it right because they know they can profit from this franchise by adding more paradoxes. It's like anime fillers only that a Terminator movie is supposed to be simple, there is a reason why Kyle and the Terminator were the only ones to be sent back in time, and not all these other things being sent back just because ----> " T-John Connor"

The entire fucking franchise is a paradox and that includes the first 2 movies. Skynet was created because they sent The first terminator back in time to terminate Sarah. They can thank Miles. If they never did that, they would've never been created and Kyle would have no reason to go back in time and John wouldn't be born meaning judgment day would've never happened. Skynet either risks getting destroyed or never be created. THEY HAD TO send the first terminator back or else everything would've been fucked. Also if The terminator succeeded in terminating Sarah or John, no war or battle would be won meaning Skynet would have no reason in the future to send any terminator back in time.

What the other franchises did was only extend the timeline so that it would always be Johns destiny too save humanity. No matter what they did Skynet always built itself somehow. So what I'm saying instead of going that route they should've made a movie specifically focusing on the future and the future only revealing how things unfolded or lead into the first Terminator movie. I always thought since it's in a later timeline, it would have been great to have Bill Paxton, Brian Thompson and the other guy re-due their roles.
This scene was meant to be in 1984 remember, although it would have afforded them a nice opportunity to see those punks in 2017 since no-one got killed, so Paxton and Thompson actually could have done that.

He ran in the first movie, third movie , and some other T800 models in Sarah Conner Chronicles series. All other models of terminators had run in every single movie.

I haven't watched Genisys but it practically erases Terminator 1 as far as I know since Genisys shows us what really happened in 1984. We can never watch Terminator 1 again without thinking that what we see is not what really happened. Thanks for that. (Sorry if I got it wrong and the story in Terminator 1 is still valid)

I’m a bit late to the party,
But my missus was never a fan of the Terminator, but when we knew this was coming out we agreed to watch this together. I caught her up on the first Terminator movie, and when she saw this scene in Genesys with the altered timeline she actually gasped out loud. That made the film for me.
I am watching these two scenes back-to-back on TH-cam. T1 vs. T5. The original definitely slow played, had more imagery, more menacing sounds, slower scenes, overall much better in 1984 vs 2015. Period.
The young Arnold actually looks fantastic, very impressed. Too bad the movie sucked.

let me just say in the cinema i couldnt tell that it was cg altough i knew... here its much more evideent and i dont know exactly why? but the CG is THE BEST cg i have seen period... i am proud of this particular achievement in cinema but i was not so happy about some of the other FLOATY digital tricks that they used.

This Terminator film was more sci-fi for it's own good that it couldn't measure up to the films Cameron directed. Thank goodness he's involved with the new films. Yet watching this scene in the theater was really nostalgic for me.

I think they show a quick scene of Sarah loading in what looks like a specialized bullet. Who knows, maybe they were really high powered? Still, kind of lame, but so was the whole movie so I don't mind

Difference being pops has explained their weak areas and exactly where to hit them. It is only the T-800 model after all. With the plus of a modified round in the 50kal. It's not unbelievable. It's good the original T-800 is still functional and adding input to keep them alive. Stop your moaning and just enjoy the best terminator movie since T2.

Would have made a lot more sense to fire the more powerful weapon first time. Would have saved a lot of injury. But then again, we wouldn’t have a film if they went about things sensibly.

This scene negates the entire franchise, hell the movie does. Creates an alternate timeline pretty much as keeping Kyle and Sarah alive doesnt mean John Connor survives. In order for this movie to make any significant sense, Kyle and Sarah would still need to have sex at the exact time they did in the first movie, and that is still a small chance that the same sperm cell will make it. Hollywood idiots who erote this movie think thre is a ticket line like in Beetlejuice where the sperm cells take a ticket and wait for their turn to become a zygote. Thats what you get these days when the writers took gender studies and social justice but skipped out on science and common sense.

I can't help but feel like that whole thing would've been avoided if good Arnold just had the Anti Terminator gun Sarah used as opposed to using a shotgun he should be well aware does no damage to a Terminator. But that probably wouldn't be nearly as entertaining.

Well, it wouldn't have made such an interesting scene if he simply ended the fight with one shot.
And since when did Terminators fall in one shot from a 12.7mm bullet? The older models required explosives to destroy and even then, their destruction is not guaranteed. Automatic weapons only made them recoil a bit in their death-advances.
I'm guessing Arnold told her where the weak spot was, but that's a strange place for there to be a big weak spot.
