My biggest issue with this movie was how they revealed that John was the bad guy IN THE TRAILERS

Dark fate was a great movie
3:55 another sin that was missed. Kyle recognizes the Terminator as soon as he sees him as the Terminator. When, in the first film Reese had no idea what the Terminator looked like. That was the whole point of Terminators. Looking human. He even says in the first film, "I had to wait until he moved on you before I could zero him." Nitpicking? Totally. But still a sin.

That confused me as well when I saw the film - it's like the characters in the movie know everything that the audience does, as though they saw the previous films on DVD before they entered this movie! It's ridiculous to the point where I couldn't suspend disbelief at all after the first ten minutes of the film!
+Dagenspear That might be how the screenwriters would try to justify it but it still doesn't make logical sense. If your purpose is to create lifelike terminators that can blend in with humans, why make countless models that look the same and can be easily recognized?

Dagenspear They do come off of an assembly line. The T-800's had different skins aka different models. Model 101 (Arnie) is the one seen in the films. But Reese didn't know what it looked like. Face it. They dropped the ball on that, just like how they dropped the ball with this entire movie.
The line about the filmmakers not understanding what fans liked about the original two movies alone was worth the price of admission.
So true - that line should be shouted from the rooftops! I'm so sick of hearing "Dun dun dun da-dun" when a terminator appears, like we're gonna say "Yay! I recognise this music!"
And shoehorning "I'll be back" in there too is so cringy - especially the T3 "I'm Back!" (Said excitedly). That shit can ruin a whole film all by itself.

I was completely lost in this movie. Say what you want about T3 & Terminator Salvation, but at least their stories were easy to follow.

While T3 and TS were crap (S not being that much crap) at least they were consistent with the series. If they simply said that at some point the timeline got fucked up so other shit happened and explained it well... but no, not even that.

It's probably been said on here many times. If they made the movie about an alternate timeline with a terminator protecting Sarah when she was a kid they really would have had a good movie. The scene where the terminator is walking and holding young Sarah as she hugs him is a touching scene. I wish they would have explored that.

The only reason we tolerate the time travel in Terminator 2 is because there's still a reason to go back. They have to destroy the CPU and the arm from the original Terminator and they have to blow up Cyberdyne. After that, there should be no reason for the future with the machines to exist.

13:35 from what I understand, this actually *is* how helicopters work, to some extent. helicopters *can* coast (albeit not nearly as well as planes), despite what most people think. for example, when a helicopter loses power high up in the air, and if the pilot steers with the proper technique, the air flowing over the helicopter as it falls will actually “auto-rotate” the blades enough to still move the helicopter in a relatively forward direction, and/or left and right. although this movie demonstrates this in an extremely exaggerated and ham-handed way, it’s definitely still possible.

In a common „timeline“, the T-X would be the first iteration (adding some liquid metal to the endoskeleton), then the T-1000 (liquid metal that can act autonomously), then the Rev.9 (endoskeleton + autonomous liquid metal so they can act independently if tactical circumstances require).

Salvation is underrated
Crazy how this and Salvation had ideas for trilogy's and neither happened. I know one of the big problems people had with Salvation was that it didn't represent the future we had seen in the 1st two movies. I didn't mind it as I felt the 2nd would have been the proper war with the storyline of capturing a T101 and reprogramming it, finding out about the time portal and sending Reese back and the Terminator to the two times, then the 3rd movie going up against Skynet. As for this movie, have zero idea what the plan was for the sequels. I tried rewatching this the other day and just the way they talk to each other is so wrong.
I'm worried about Dark fate being similar.
The biggest problem with salvation (which is underrated a bit) is the fact that a movie that’s supposed to focus on john conner the resistance, and the war spent 90% of its time on Marcus for some stupid reason.

@@inr9751 Now, don't get wrong. I love Terminator 2: Judgment Day the best because I grew up watching it. I really enjoyed Terminator Genisys and thought it was the best one since Judgment Day. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines was good, not great and not as good as Judgment Day. But, I still liked it and I own it on DVD. I met Kristanna Loken (The TX) in 2011. Rise of the Machines was the first Terminator movie I watched on the big screen. The Terminator will always be a classic. What's great about the 1984 film is the story and the outstanding casting of Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator.

In all fairness, they were ALL pretty bad. Nick Stahl may have been the best of the bunch. Saw T2 recently and Edward Furlong's acting was not only worse than I remembered, but almost killed the movie for me.

I know this movie is garbage, but... some parts of it I kinda enjoyed. Like just seeing Arnie as the terminator again, for example. Don't get me wrong, I know T1 and T2 are leagues ahead of this shit pile, lol. I was able to just have some fun with this. That's all.

This. It's a pretty weak compliment, and movies shouldn't really be praised for being this way, but I too thought Genisys was an incredibly dumb, yet entertaining film. It was borderline scholck, which is always amusing to watch.
I'm perfectly capable of leaning back and simply enjoying a dumb action/CGI extraveganza like this, except in Michael Bay movies. Those just anger me.

Funnily enough I think T4 is a better standalone film than T3, but you're right T3 does fit the Terminator world better then T4 and T5.
Everyone is just crying out to see the future war and they have failed to deliver 3 times now. It was the logical step and should have been what T3 was. Then T4 made a complete mess of it. T5 is just....no.

They used the same in Avengers:Endgame and explained it kinda like this: Just because you change the known past, it doesn't mean that it changes the known future, because the known future is now the past.

Jai Courtney really nails the Kyle Reese who "grew up in the ruins, starving, hiding from HKs." You can really tell that in his childhood experiences, "you stay down by day, but at night you can move around; you still have to be careful because the HKs use infrared." And he absolutely brings to life the sheer *mind-fuckery* that's going on in Kyle Reese's eyes when he's explaining his case to Dr Silberman.

First season, maybe. Just felt like the second started far too many storylines that would have been so much better had they been flushed out, just ot flush them down the crapper and go in another direction.

I remember when this movie came out. I've been a Terminator fan for a long time and when it came out me and my brother went to go see it. We walk to the train station to catch to train to go the cinema. As soon as walked onto the platform, the train left and we had to wait 30min for the next one. When we got to the cinemas, we had to wait an hour for the next session. Finally after all that trouble, we witnessed this piece of crap movie.

DumbDuck44 Not only is that extremely inhumane, I’m not sure there are even any species that aren’t humans or insects left in 2029, not counting the dogs from the first movie. Also, the machine doesn’t read anything under the living skin that is fully covered (such as the T-800s’ skeletons, which was why Pops couldn’t go to 2017 with Sarah and Kyle), so the pig wouldn’t be killed going through.

+BIGPoJo The work camps are there for emotional effect. It's repeatedly stated in all Terminator movies that Skynet wants us all dead. It makes 0 sense, as they don't use humans for anything and obviously, being intelligent, Skynet can manufature whatever it needs.
I can't say anything for this new timeline, but in the original, the T-1000 was a prototype (stated in T2).
And Skynet specifically aborted the idea of building more because they proved to be very adept at learning (I believe this was stated in the Sarah Connor Chronicles?)
Given Skynet's demonstrable wariness of allowing T-800s to study and learn from their environment (a plot point in T2), extending that fear to a *much smarter and more dangerous* T-1000 makes sense in all the right ways.
Jai Courtney *_sucks_* as Kyle Reese, not only did he even look anything like Reese in the '84 film - even physically, he looks too muscular compared to Biehn - but he doesn't even try to mimic Biehn's mannerisms in the orig, he always has that same stern look, like as if he's trying to act like a Terminator. Hell, I could perfectly mimic Biehn's Reese performance down to a T, and this is coming from a huge Michael Biehn fan.
Another problem I have is that Courtney's Reese seems to be too invincible, what made Biehn's Reese appealing, to me, is that he was an ordinary human soldier who gets wounded and bleeds, he's got scars all over him. After being shot in the climax, he obviously is shown falling down sometimes from the wound.
His wasnt supposed to be mimicking the original Kyle, his a different version of Kyle, they are from two different timelines hense the differences in them. I will give you the invincible thing though, I mean who gets hit by a car on a freeway, bounces of the windscreen, lands on the road and manages to survive without so much as a scratch on them, that was just one of many wtf moments in this movie.

Man, when you were talking about pops having an exploration montage I couldn't help but laugh out loud and cheer, "yes!". That would have been so epic. It honestly would have made the movie much better just on principal, just so it doesn't take itself so seriously.

I think Terminator Salvation would have been better for a franchise reboot than Genisys. (I like that they show the war against machines, and ending it with the time travel would have been a smooth cicle between old and new films)

However AllThingsLemon is correct, in this timeline judgement day should have occurred already (with the intro stating it occurs in 1997 and genisys goes live in 2017). Except the movie attempts to write it's way out of it with a half assed "oh the timelines been altered so judgement day is now in 2017" excuse.
