The UNTOLD history of badminton at the Asian Games

- The Asian Games (Asiad) is the 2nd largest multi sports event in the world! (according to the IOC)
And badminton has been a part of the Asian Games programme since 1962!
With the BWF being split until 1981, with many Asian nations like China, Korea and Thailand unable to compete at tournaments like the All England, World Championships, etc the Asian Games is actually the longest running badminton tournament where ALL of Asia has competed against each other.
This has undoubtedly created a very long and rich history.
And with the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou just concluding, I felt it as good a time as any to dive into that history.
And oh boy, was it a ride, with many crazy and unbelievable stories...
Controversies, underdog stories, and legend making moments are all a part of this journey.
A journey that involves legends like Tjun Tjun, Park Joo Bong, Lin Dan, Taufik Hidayat, Lee Hyun Il, and current greats like Rankireddy and Shetty

I don't see many historical take or journalist reviews of the badminton game. The most of the coverage is about game videos and news. We rarely hear behind the scenes news, injuries, recoveries, strategies, player's interests and pranks. Even BWF doesn't spend time and effort to tell the story the way you did. 👏👏👏

yeah 2023 Asian games badminton side really devastating for Indonesia. I kinda miss tournament news because busy with work but personally it bring back plenty of questions into PBSI. There only two sports on Indonesia that can unite Indonesian, Badminton and Football. Indonesian do acknowledge our football national team is weak and bunch of scandal on Indonesia football association, but for badminton. Nightmare is quite underline.
