This is actually my favorite movie of the series because of Benny and Michelle, the Sawyers, and its TV movie feel and this branch of the Sawyer family who rescued Leatherface and Grandpa after the events of the first--leaving Drayton to take the fall for everything and claim HE became 'Leatherface' whenever he put on a mask, and since Sally was so crazy in the back of that pickup I'm pretty sure she WASN'T very helpful to the cops--and how it shows Leatherface's growth in the past 15 or so years due to the nurture of these people versus how Drayton and Hitchhiker treated him. Now he's confident, strong, and compassionate while still being the butcher he was raised to be and he can drive, hunt, and even has a daughter. That truck chase was a trap, hence why the roadkill was thrown on their car and Tex caused them to go off the road--that's why the girls in the beginning were captured, they thought he was hurt and stopped to help him. The whole scene at the gas station was a setup, and Tinker was the one who caught the girls. The house is a great trap too because of how normal it looks both inside and out, and everything about Mama and Little Girl is great. Although I like the first movie from Leatherface chasing Sally all the way to end and it actually REALLY doesn't interest me up to that point, I love THIS movie from start to finish. This is like Child's Play 2 in it's the only Leatherface movie I need like CP2 is the only Chucky movie I need, and the hate both of them get always seems to be followed up by love for Curse of Chucky and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake so I always take said opinions with a grain of salt...

The original was great, lucky enough to see it as a kid at night. Chop tops intro in the second was also great.

The Texas chainsaw franchise is just a series of movies you know are bad but you can't seem to stop watching them over how insane they can be (with exception of the first).

Still need to see this one. Have to say I used to hate part 2 but overtime it has grown on me. I think the switch to macabre, wacky comedy was a nice change in pace. This looks quite good fun too, so will put it on the list.

This is actually a pretty good sequel. Don't know why people dislike it so much. Some good actors in it.

It's one of the only three TCSM films I like, the other two being the original and 2003 version. I love the family in part 3, they're an interesting mix of odd balls. Ben is a great hero too. I wish they'd had the balls to kill off the girl and just have Ben survive.

He was so determined to not be the dead black person but still came back for her. What a guy. Buuut own about that fire; girl scouts cover their arms in aerosol spray and set themselves on fire, burning it off without burning themselves... well, in theory. The girl I knew ended up burnt.

So they found a new directer to make Texas Chainsaw Massacre have a visceral and dark theme ...By a preview of Vivian the lady in the lake of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table fame hurl a chainsaw? Ah sure, that really is something... I think?!?

The original script was much more brutal with explicit gore sequences. The producers objected to many of the scenes (one of which had a nude man being split down the middle while hung upside down) and demanded extensive changes to the script to reduce gore and violence. Further cuts had to be made to avoid an X-rating after the film was finished.
Submitted 11 times to the MPAA. On each submission, more and more footage was cut out, some of which was lost forever.
This was the final movie to be given an "X" certificate by the MPAA before the rating was replaced with "NC-17".
New Line picked up the rights to the series, hoping that if successful, Leatherface would replace their soon to be completed "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series. The box-office disappointment of this film caused New Line to let their option on the material expire.
Leatherface is never referred to as Leatherface he's always referred to by his family simply as "Junior".
Tobe Hooper, director of the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), was originally going to be involved in the film. He had submitted a treatment to New Line execs, but bowed out of the project due to scheduling conflicts concerning his film Spontaneous Combustion (1990).
Ken Foree was in Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007). Duane Whitaker and Caroline Williams were both in Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 (2009).
Director Jeff Burr wanted to shoot the film in Texas using 16 mm film just like the original, but New Line rejected the idea because they had already built the house in California.
The poorest performing film in the series up until the release of Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994).

Maybe I'm biased as this was the first Texas Chainsaw movie I ever saw however besides some questionable editing these movie isn't bad at all, especially compared to 3D, the new Leatherface movie, and the Next Generation. If I had to rank them it'd be the original, remake, Part two, this and the rest in no real order.

My favorite entry in the series. The first one had very effective moments but also some of the most infuriating ones (that dickhead in the wheelchair doing schtick was nothing short of painful, and the cinematography of the girl freaking out at the dinner scene made me want to hurt things). The second one was basically a SyFy Channel made-in-Romania sequel to the first one with all the sharks it jumped, although some parts were also very effective. This one actually gave me chills, none of the protagonists made me want them to die, and seeing the "final girl" blast the bejesus out of that guy in the bed of the pickup truck was positively orgasmic.

Gas Station Guy is a member of the family. He, Leatherface, Tex and other guy aka Tinker, are brothers. I just finished reading the comic adaptation of the movie right now, which seems to be based on an older draft of the script. Gas Station Guy is super racist in the comic and has an eyepatch. The art style changes almost as much as the Charmed comics.

All the sequels past part 2 are basically just remakes of the original. They have no continuity, and just rehash the same story... just done 10X worst...

    • @johnnyraven7980

I never liked or loved the Original. I think it's boring and dumb, and just lame. The sequels are 100X better to me. Even Next Generation is a better movie than the 74 stupid dumb lame Original. Texas Chainsaw is amazing compared to the Original. I I really enjoyed the Prequel of 2017. It's good and decent enough. I liked it. Better than the Original. The remake is great enough. I love the third film. The second one is ok. The prequel remake is ok but not up to par with the remake or the other films. I loved Leatherface's mask in that prequel though that's only thing mainly. I do respect others Opinion. I just can't stand the Original or hearing it being called a classic because it isn't to me. It doesn't hold up like the other films.

I won't lie. I like parts 2(might even be my favourite one!) and 3, they feel like the parents of House of a 1000 corpses! Well, they kind of are, plus they have Bill Moseley in Chop-Top/Otis Firefly are two of my favourite characters within the horror genre! I love the speak and spell part, picture of a clown and he keeps typing food!! >XD
13:29 Yes because you can't drown when unconscious!?!?!? or am I not recognizing your sarcasm; only my 2nd video of yours so IDK your character!

From an objective standpoint, the first movie in the series is the best one, but the second one is still my favourite - partly because it knows it won't be as creepy as the first, so it just goes for gore, insanity and, most importantly, black comedy!
