I was talking to Denice Duff on her face book page(super nice lady, by the way) and she says that they are planning to shoot Subspecies 5 this summer. It's supposed to be a prequel set in the middle ages, and she and the fellow who played Radu are both returning. I do hope Lupa covers the movie, if and when it gets made.
The subspecies were all sitting at the bottom of the tree, throwing rocks at Radu to try to knock him down.
Y'know, Radu *did* telegraph his ability to come back from the dead when he said "You can't kill me Stefan, nothing can."

@@FamousMortimer Allison made a series called 'Radu Reviews'. It was a spoof series in which Allison as Radu reviewed other things unrelated to Subspecies (like a princess cartoon about potty training). The episodes are available on her Subspecies playlist and are really funny.

By this movie Subspecies desperately wants to be Vampire the Masquerade with the Radu fledgling plot and Blade with the science vampires.

The funny thing is, I had the opposite opinion. I saw this one first on cable when I was younger. I missed the beginning and actually thought it was the first one. So, I kinda liked the attempt at a vaguely Vampire: the Masquerade movie world. Then, later I watched the whole series and didn't like the others so much because Radu was laughably lame in them (And I found the Subspecies a bit goofy).
I gotta say, I love the first 3 subspecies, but they really dropped the ball with the 4th one

I love you Radu oh dammit love it. How I wish they would bring Radu and Michelle back with this part four just being a dream or something it was awful. Radu needs to kill the sister and the guy not a car wreck and Michelle needs to totally turn wanting Radu while he finds another interest that makes her angry. Also bring in the whole king of the Vampires and bring back the make up from the first movie. Anders Hove is by far ine of the best vampires.

See, I'm the exact opposite. I loved "Vampire Journals," but found the Subspecies series really lacking. I still love your reviews though, especially the Radu voice. :)

I get the feeling the Subspecies were suppose to be important then they decided they weren't but it was too late and they already had their branding. Probably could have called it Radu the Surprisingly Alive and it be a bit more accurate. Love Radu's voice though.

I liked vampire journals I thought Zachary and Ash we're good characters but needed more time to be fleshed out. I was psyched for the crossover movie that subspecies 4 was supposed to be but it sucked bad
I saw an interview that explained why everyone died in a car crash but they could've recasted them I think.
Also Dr. Mc Creepy if I remember correctly doesn't speak English. He did both movies phonetically. His stupid wig hid an earpiece for some of his lines
Something I don't understand is you say vampire journals which I never watched because I found the first 35 minutes of the first episode of boring, anyways you say vampire journals is supposed to be like a spin-off of subspecies but the last movie of subspecies was in 98 vampire journals debuted in 97. So basically they were play the spinoff of the movie before the series of the movie actually ended. That's what I don't understand. Was that to keep the storyline subspecies fresh in people's minds before the movie series ended? Because I always did believe that there was a part 5 although I could be wrong because after part 4 I just gave up on Radu.
The intention was probably to use the Subspecies crossover to test the waters for a Vampire Journals sequel[s].. Also, both franchises had the same director, Ted Nicolaou...
As for Subspecies 5, it doesn't exist yet. It was announced last year, afaik the script is completed and is expected to be filmed/completed as soon as possible post pandemic. It's supposed to be Radu's origin story, and Anders Hove will be reprising his role as Radu.
V.J. takes place way after Subspecies 4 that why Ask els the girl it was his previous master Radus.

This film is such a weird and mostly unnecessary sequel. It's meant to take place before The Vampire Journals but thanks to how the two films released (original Full Moon dissolving, Subspecies 4 needing a new distributor, etc.) the spin-off hit before it and just wrenches it into hellish confusion.
If they ever get the fifth film going, I have no doubt that it will further complicate and muddy the water of an already dirty swamp of continuity that the series has. I know it's meant to be a prequel, even though Radu's past was explored through a comic (because Full Moon needed to publish those too... yeah, I can't imagine why ol' Charlie and Co. ran into financial troubles... nope).
If nothing else, we'll at least get to see how whoever gets hired to do the make-up effects will change Radu's look again. At this point they'd be better just making it animated, it'd probably be cheaper and at least more consistent visually if they did.
...AND there were no subspecies in the movie!

2:41- Ah, come on, movie. Darth Maul being sliced in half and coming back during The Clone Wars makes more sense than this.
This vampire movie series is making more shit up than The Twilight Saga.
14:11- Why must I always have to explain it? Midichlorians are NOT the Force. They are transmitters of the Force. The more a person has in their body, the more control they have of The Force. It's been clearly stated by Qui-Gon in Episode I.
17:01- I would say "rape joke," but... Yeah, my brain just threw up from my stating that.
18:03- At this point of the movie, I just want Michelle to die already.
And thus we end the "Jaws: The Revenge" of the Subspecies series.

This series is just a low budget Resident Evil. Both star a chick no one really cares about, they both abandon potentially good storylines for lame ones, and they both start the last film in their series by killing of the more interesting characters from the previous film offscreen. Spread the word, Paul Anderson is equal to a writer and director from Full Moon!!!
