Love it bro. Made me homesick. Quick one, better for your bike to ride from a cold start slowly rather than letting it stand and idle warm. Awesome footage well done man.

Hi! Thanks appreciate the feedback! I actually booked all my accommodation well ahead of time. I know this isn’t a popular approach and many people say it’s a terrible idea, but I had some fixed commitments with family and needed to be in specific places at certain times. And even with some mechanical issues it worked out ok. I had a paper tracks for Africa map and a used a spreadsheet where I noted the towns I would pass through and the roads I would travel, as well as the distances and estimated travel times.
Like the video well done man!
I just bought a FGS800 , inspiring to see it out there kickin ass , great video and what a beautiful country

G'day from Australia, I'm looking at getting a F800GS and your video has convinced me. I'm super excited to do some trips on it.
Very nice. Am hoping to do a little smaller round trip through SA in December. Your Afrikaans was perfect.
Now that was a Lekka trip Rowan 🙂 . Thanks for the effort to put it all together for us 👍🏻🇿🇦
Oh yeah, nice video! Being a huge F800GS fan myself, would love to hear more of that engine sound next time 😁
Wind noise is usually the issue unfortunately, you don’t hear much of the engine
@@rowanpage05 True, I forgot about that 👍
Nice trip, Great bike!
What an amazing video. You rode some awesome dirt roads. Hope to be able to do such a ride one day on a f800gs.

Great road on the way to Prince Albert. Beautiful views. The entire trip was nice to see.
Thanks for sharing a great tour of SA.
Thanks for the nice comment! It was really a great trip and a wonderful part of the country.
Epic adventure!

Nope sorry no longer in the cape!
Hey man im looking to buy a 800gs and found your video. Looks like an amazing trip and a great video. Keep it up and thanks. Any flat tyres?
Thanks! Luckily no flats even with lots of rocks. I did always keep the tyres quite firmly inflated, around 2bar.
Hi.
Did you book any bnb's ahead of time?
Love the content.
Also want to know how you did your planing on maps for africa? If it is possible.

Great trip!!, interesting overnight stay in the container, where was that?
Thanks! It was on a farm just off the R356 about halfway between between Fraserburg and Loxton. Listing still seems to be on AirBnb.
Amazing adventure, how often did you fuel?
I could usually get 300km comfortably on a tank so there weren’t too many places I had to really worry. I’d say on average twice a day.
I'm looking to do these routes soon on my F800GS. Looks to be so much fun. Send us your gps tracks so we can copy your experience!
I didn’t have GPX tracks I used a tracks4africa paper map. I used the GPS where there were no road signs mostly.
Were those lions???!!!
No…
Hi, how did the Mitas E07+ perform, how would you rate them?
It stood up to a lot of abuse for around 8000km and performed well with zero punctures. Would happily use it again for that kind of trip.
@rowanpage1452 thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Ordered mine last week.
Hi. Did you sleep over under roof mostly or did you camp as well. ?
I decided to leave the camping gear and stayed in BnB’s each night, with some stops at family in between.
