I love how you used the Muppets version of a Christmas Carol. It’s the best version of the story. I’ve been trying to convince my dad to watch it for a couple of years. He’s convinced that the Robert Zemeckis version is the best.
I have no idea why everyone has a Christmas boner about this film. I like Will Ferrell well enough, but he is absolutely obnoxious and annoying in Elf. Not to mention that the entire premise of this movie is ridiculous and nonsensical. By the way, the best Christmas movie is Die Hard and everyone knows it.
I can see how people could find him obnoxious. I find him more endearing because the narrative sets up why he’s so weird pretty well and his actions (usually) are harmless (except when he destroyed Walter’s TV stand to make a rocking horse, that was kinda rude and when he stole the tree from Central Park). What part of the premise is ridiculous? I mean, of course it’s ridiculous because it’s a Santa movie filled with elves and magic but in terms of that internal logic what is nonsensical about the premise? Is it that Buddy just walks to New York from the North Pole? While that’s definitely impossible I just chalk that up to a little magical realism for the sake of showing us how determined Buddy was to meet his father. If Buddy had, say, flown a rain deer down to New York then his journey would have meant less, even though that would have made more sense in that worlds logic. As for Die Hard, while I do not consider it a Christmas movie for the reasons I stated in this video, I am glad people have been able to form traditions around that film, and if you compare it to every Christmas movie it’s probably narratively better. Most Christmas movies aren’t super high quality and Die Hard is an action movie classic with strong writing but I don’t compare it to Christmas movies because thematically it isn’t one.
@@StoriesAreMeaningful Me when I see someone who says Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie: *Yippie Kay Yay, motherfucker.* (The ridiculous part of Elf's premise is that Santa just stole a baby, instead of, y'know, returning it. The poor nun will live believing that a baby was stolen while she was taking care of them...)
"What is the best Christmas movie?"
It's fucking *Die Hard.*
I know, right? Obviously it's Die Hard. I truly believed that everyone already knew that.

You’re so underrated!! Like this video looks something that a 100k subs channel would do
