Disney is another example of mastering forced perspective.
On Main Street USA at Disneyland, for example, the first floors of the buildings are normal (9/10th scale). But the second floors are slightly shorter at 5/8, and the third floors at 1/2. Because we are used to what buildings are supposed to look like, we think there's nothing wrong and just move on. And we just assume the third floor looks smaller because it is farther away from us

Honestly Jon Favreau is one of the most important film directors of the modern day. Elf for many is considered one of the best Christmas movies. He single handedly kickstarted the avengers franchise with Iron Man. Created baby Yoda. Managed to actually make a great live action adaptation of a Disney movie (lion king). And his movie Chef is easily one of the best food movies of all time!

My mom was actually driving through the Lincoln tunnel when elf was being filmed and she called me like, “Kate so I was driving through the Lincoln tunnel... and a guy in an elf costume walked past my car with a cameraman. I think I am going to be in a movie.” of course I thought she was joking.
and then elf came out... Lol
Okay so for all the people replying to this My mom, who lived in New York at the time, was driving through the Lincoln tunnel and called me to tell me that a grown man in an elf costume was walking through the tunnel. She must have called me later because She never called people while she was driving. I replied that I thought she was pulling my leg (or something to that effect) and we laughed about it and then never discussed it again. I would ask her more about it but I doubt she remembers this as she currently lives in a nursing home. It was a silly story that I thought related to this but just to explain further I thought I might as well tell the whole story. This is all I remember as I was not there and as you guys were mentioning this was 2002 which was quite a long time ago. Even if you don’t believe me thousands of people saw elf being filmed and there are probably many other people with stories just like mine. So cheers, and merry early Christmas!

@@delusionalmilkshake The Lord of the Rings was a"relatively unknown movie"? I was mistaken about the year Elf came out (2003). Its possible that when the "making of" Elf was being made LOTR had not been released. That would explain the inconsistency.

@@delusionalmilkshake ok. But the producers of Elf (Warner Bros.) and the producers of LOTR (New Line) are both American companies. Meaning that the people involved in the production of Elf would have know of LOTR. If Elf was an "indie" film produced outside of the us you would have a point. Your knowledge or lack there of isn't the point. However, I do give some credit to your point about their respective release dates in my previous comment.

@@delusionalmilkshake Also, Fellowship made almost $900,000,000.00 worldwide. While not making it a "good" movie necessarily (I think it was) it does seem to imply that it was a popular movie. Again, worldwide.
