I love how you just get right down to the topic of the video, unlike most channels that have a 5 minute preamble needlessly explaining what the video is about, which anyone with a single brain cell could figure out from the title and thumbnail.
    Good on you!

One of the rares in the Obsidian Citadel drops the plans for an epic blacksmith hammer. That needs to be crafted at the Earthwarder Forge as well.
The Enchanting Trainer in Uldaman is now dead in the revamp version. You can see her body in the room with the bats and scorpions before the Golem Boss.

I remember how the more expansion wow got, the less likely you needed professions.
In dungeon groups healing became so common, bandages where a niche thing.
And getting gear made crafting hardly needed, because after you got a Item level set, you could do the harder part to get better gear.
In vanilla, anything crafted was usually a godsend, cause i still remember struggling as a rogue, till my friend mailed me some niche green daggers at lvl 12.
That was some powerhouse gear right there.

player information helps a lot but specifically on bandages and health potions: blizzard hasnt bothered tuning either since Wrath to the content they are implementing, which has been bad for both alchemy and first aide as their filler leveling craft/only crafts for the expansion, to the point bandages werent implemented in WoD and when reimplemented in legion, were outhealed by the WoD healing potion.
Crafting Relevance also was just fucking all over the place. in Vanilla itemization was so horrifically bad, that crafting, one of the last things implemented, actually meant the items were better capable of being utilized effectively.
TBC is the best crafting was ever at with crafted items outclassing actual tier sets late into the progression depending on specific class, although significantly less relevant in classic where everything had been mastered.
Wrath was significantly worse then TBC because crafting is only useful as an introductory interstage between endgame and PvP or Tier gear.
Cataclysm is a slight improvement over Wrath but is critically, inappropriately paced relative to its progression causing professions to lag behind. Unlike Wrath though enouhg gear comes in later through raids to keep them relevant, but generally maintaining the downward trajectory from TBC's GOAT position.
Pandaria levels out where cataclysm dick-kicked crafting to but makes crafting overal infinitely worse with the discovery system which means its basically impossible to go back and level any of them
and despite being on a consistent historic 4 expansion downward trend, a God rose to redeem crafting. In pandaria you had to gamble to learn each recipe you needed. in Cata you had to fight over rare resources to acquire the currency needed to progress. in Warlords of draenor you simply decided which item you needed the most and learned it today. Items werent just durable, they stuck with you from the second you hit lvl 100 until the expansion ended, and there was no gambling on what you got, just hurling a small stack of consumeables at your problem. In addition, materials now stacked to 200 to alleviate congestion. the only real problem is that everything is a transmute, so everything is time gated. However, as the first expansion to challenge the throne of the gods, it has stood exeption to those that came before, and after. Item Upgrades took starter-lvlcap gear and brought it all the way into Heroic Hellfire Citadel.
Legion crafting was a complete rejection of what made Warlords Crafting as good as it was. Obliterium was expensive beyond reason to unlock as the materials to craft the required items were being demanded at 10 times the rate of any other craft, and the result, obliterium, only minorly upgraded the ilvl of the items from the expansion only enough to compete with Mythic Dungeon gear and LFR raid gear. Further, rather then having a stat reroll token, items were crafted as is so a good item could take your first craft, or a hundred to actually make. We were back to bad crafting.
Until we met BFA. BFA is special in that it does everything wrong with crafting. Relevant patterns arent learned through trainers or merchants, but through discovery, and all of them produce soulbound equipment which requires Mythic dungeon and raidsourced soulbound materials to generate items with random stat arrays while requiring obscene quantities of materials to produce. Legion crafting was useless because the gear was noncompetitive, BFA crafting was useless because it didnt even function in the roles of crafting as a social driving element or a casual progression system.
Shadowlands returns to the more common status quo of the Dungeons and one relevant item with Legendary crafting. Noteably SL improves the status quo as the introduction of Missives means that items can be inherently tuned to benefit the Commissionee as is necessary. Further it actually improves several previously bad craftings with the relic of the past system allowing you to craft old items at higher or lower levels as is necessary. In exchange you cant get WoD transmog from crafting now.
Dragonflight so far looks to be capable of outcompeting TBC as the best crafting of all time, even with the horrific problems of the shear quantity of profession knowledge required, but to dethrone TBC requires not just refinement and quality ideas, but implementation and time necessary to prove the decisions are being held to. Will DF punch into the realm of the gods or is it merely the second coming of WOD Crafting?

Ironically 90% of the people that had hard ons over vanilla for 15 years didn't last 2 months in classic when they realised the game wasn't as flawless as nostalgia led them to believe. Same goes for BC and now WotLK. Most of the player base believes that whatever era they started playing, the game was in a near perfect state. As most just rediscovered, vanilla was an absolute grindfest that required you to play the game as a second job to stay relevant.
Still not as funny as people crying the content is too easy or cleared too quickly when they don't want to consider the 2 decades of dissecting every single byte of data that exists in the game. Content creators will complain there's no wonder i the game anymore but will release 10hrs of content every week for months leading up to the realised with every little bit of data mined info they can get. Belular and Asmon deciding and expansion is gonna be great and then trash and then great again 40 times before it's even released.

I think what is most notable about professions is how Blizz actually accidentally cause professions to become obsolete. With the creation of dungeon finder, as well as increasing quest numbers, drops from quests etc, it saturdated the loot pool. back in the day before this happened, Alts were a thing that you had to level, so there were many people that would always be in need of lower level items.
another way of adjusting this is to make things like enchanting, or later game recipes still require lower end mats, would be a nice touch

did the icebellow anvil change at all transitioning from classic and beyond?, maybe i am misremembering, do you still need the icebellow anvil to craft frost resistance gear in naxx40-10-25. (ive recently been collecting frozen runes on classic wrath, and was curious about this. Also the quest "the only song i know" at lights hope chapel can still be completed with WoTLK naxx, so technically you can still get your icy leggings for your town set/transmog/collection purpose, you only need to collect the required materials- 2 frozen runes(can be tricky to attain depending on availability),2 blue sapphires,2 essence of water,30 gold coins. unlike the other parts the leggings don't need you to find the anvil i think assuming the other parts need the anvil in the first place, this is where my memory gets hazy, however i know for sure you can complete this quest tested it out on two weeks worth of naxx 10 man, fortunately the npc's required to complete this quest survived the move to northrend and you can safely grind these cool leggings out if you wish.)

feels wierd watching videos of wow.
consider that I stoped playing wow in early cata.
and I only played a short bit of wow classic.
that said one thing I feel blizzard never really have succeeded in was making crafting professionals useful (beyond a few end game items if even that).
while leveling in most case I had to slow down my leveling speed to a standstill just to keep my crafting skill on level.
and even then it was many cases of yes I spent hour making this breastplate at level 32 (blue, expensive but it is better then what I got right now).
do a 5 min quest to kill 5 pigs and I get a better breastplate, this was not a epic quest that took hours and hours and required me to travel around azaroth just walk 50 feet and kill 10 pigs.
Another thing I feelt was that the best item was not crafting items it was raid drops. and that sucks, because having player in the guild that was max level crafter sort of never was useful, because the amount of item from crafters at endgame was so little.

Yeah, in many ways it’s so overly complex and disincentives newer crafters from getting into it. Why should I spend several tens of thousands of gold on mats to get max skill in a crafting profession when I can just buy the item from the AH or place a crafting order for a fraction of the cost. I get it, it rewards players who specialize in a specific area of their profession, but it’s so hard to get to that point for yourself that it just feels bad.

Crafting in WoW honestly got more meh to worse with every xpac. Biggest factor was getting rid of craftable main gear thats competive/better then raid gear. Sure thats only realy a problem for blacksmiths and leatherworkers (tailors at least had bags to craft on high demand) but its kinda sad how blacksmiths falling from beeing the only ones that could create legendarys at the beginning fall to start of xpac viable at the most.
Yeah people were qq about needing to buy/ask/level professions to get awesome gear but it made crafting as classes viable for main gameplay
