    Help me Jesus with this. And I am ashamed to say I've been stuck on my couch inactive, not cleaning, nothing & just glued to the TV. I can't stand myself. Sickening. I'm sick. Forgive me Lord.

    I thank you very much for making this video. I been considering weight loss surgery just to rid the obesity that I caused myself. The sad part about it, is that God is a deliverer over EVERYTHING! He has delivered me of cigarettes and drugs almost 21 years ago, and I had to tell myself He is the same deliverer way back then, today, and forever more. Why I chose weight loss surgery and not seek the face of God? is why He brought me to this channel to be reminded of what a mighty God I serve. I am in tears thinking about how sorry I am not going to God in the first place.😪 All I can do now is put my trust in Him and He will lead my path. Thanks again for the truth that set me free.

    Yes, food is indeed becoming an idol. We eat when happy, sad, celebrating, or just bored. On the other end, it is the idol of skinny. O Lord, transform our hearts to love and worship You above all else, for in You alone we find true satisfaction. #JesusIsLord

    Gluttony! Wow that is me I eat eat eat a lot of food! I was on the track of feeling the need to eat large amount food every Minute of the day! I would go to bed feeling horrible. I watched your sermon on the cure for Gluttony is Self-Control. I was praying to God to take the taste of sugar, salt, bread and fast food from me. God did not take the love food away. I an in a struggle, but now hearing your sermon has helped me to watch what and how I eat. Even Optimist did not help it made my eat habit worst. I can see this is a spiritual warfare. I know I will be temped to eat wrong again, but now I have a sculpture to recite to stay strong. Now I feel I can start fasting again. Today was my first day decided to eat healthy. it is Oct. 25 2020 4:12pm and so far I am not hungry. I know God will guide my steps.Thank you for allowing God to use you!

    Ohh dang I needed this. I’ve known that gluttony is a very strong personal struggle of mine and probably will be the rest of my life. I have a strong desire to eat all the time. I never know how to deal with it. Any time I bring it up people scoff and laugh it off because I’m not overweight. When you mentioned gluttony not being defined by what you see in the mirror it was such a relief. To know that just because I don’t look like a glutton doesn’t mean I don’t struggle with it. I wish more people talked about this sin because I feel as though it’s very overlocked in American culture which I think makes it harder to battle against.

    This was a great sermon and it opened my eyes to the true definition of gluttony. In the food part of gluttony, I did notice that I would use food as a treat (specifically junk foods) and it would make me feel sluggish and lazy. I noticed when I step away from the junk and eat healthy foods I feel lively and awake. Fasting is also a great way to clean the body from foods and avoid gluttony.

    • @ExNihiloHealth
      @ExNihiloHealth  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samt9632 Thanks for your candor. I think your sentiment is shared by many. Here is where I land on this: There are two sides to every ship. Many are prone to falling off the eating too much, and others are prone to falling off the "not eating enough" side. Both are two sides of the same coin in that they could (spiritually speaking, not clinically) make food and/or body image Lord. Christ must be Lord first. Behavior modification (stop eating/start eating) wont solve the spiritual issue. Solve the root issue and solve the symptoms... I believe I address this at the end of part 3. Be Well!

    I'm so glad I found this channel!! I've been thinking, this isn't a topic I hear other people's talk about but it's there in Scripture and I know I'm not crazy to analize it that way. So grateful that you have this amazing channel confirming what I've been studying and living for almost 2 years!! I was a drug addict before I was saved. I came to the understanding that drug use is heavily connected to gluttony, because I ceased all drug use but the food addiction that started in my childhood came back. That's how I realized they were linked. Anything we consume beyond what the body needs for nurture can be and is linked to gluttony. Food never filled the void and as I got older I kept seeking to fill the void elsewhere. As a believer I now understand that void is existential and can only be filled by the indwelling of God's Holy Spirit.

    I happened onto this channel looking for strength, wisdom and hope, because my husband is a glutton, he drinks beer after beer and then he will eat so much that he has actually gotten ill from overeating.
    He doesn’t speak of God, ever which is also concerning and has now become just a cruel person...a yelling, over - eating, over - drinking person...as if he has lost all of his integrity. He was always somewhat of a self centered person, immature in many ways, but now its compounded with the gluttonous behaviors. His family will not speak to him anymore which has also trickled down onto me, they no longer interact with me due to his behaviors. He doesn’t see what he is doing to himself and its really not for me to try to enlighten him, but it has affected me, my relationships with others and our marriage.
    I have nobody to turn to in my life, especially, with this lingering pandemic,
    but I do have God.
    I ask for prayers, that he can come to realize the gravity of turning to the something that is falsely covered in comfort and find the wisdom to truly understand that its a false sense of comfort that ultimately takes ones spirit down and that I can also gain wisdom as well as regain back, at least a portion of my lost peace. this has all gotten to me and is starting to break my own spirit by the overwhelming sense of sorrow and loss of an entire person to something so fraudulent and harmful. Perhaps prayers will open a moment of enlightenment.
    Prayers are so very much needed, plus...it doesn’t hurt to ask! haha..Thanks
    for your time in reading this.
    😇☺️🙏🏻

    As human beings, we are endowed with individual talents and abilities that can be honed through practice and learning.
    While you may be a prodigy in drawing, your friend or coworker may be a genius in Mathematics. No-one has it all.
    Interestingly, we could learn and sharpen certain skills we admire about a particular individual, which we never seemed to possess at first. It's all a matter of showing a genuine quest for knowledge, asking good questions and making the time to study.
    However, if you are unsuccessful in acquiring that skill through studying or emulation, the least you can do is to admire the owner of that talent while striving on improving yourself -- identifying your own talent and working hard to excel it.
    Why must you spend sleepless nights brooding over why you were not created like somebody else?
    When we are dissatisfied with ourselves, we tend to compare ourselves with certain individuals who remind us of our shortcomings.
    Strangely, the admiration we had for such individuals metamorphose into mixed feelings of friendliness and resentment, which is as corrupt as the Devil himself.
    As we harbour bitter envy towards a neighbour or friend because an aspect of their personality reminds us of our inadequacies, we unkowingly invite darkness into our souls. Of course, you may be a professing christian, but what envy does to you is turn you into a vessel for afflicting the brethren.
    Do not willfully become an instrument of pain, for a heavy retribution awaits anyone who chooses to be deliberately harmful.
    This book sheds light on the nature and effects of envy -- and how to repent from such malice!

    Hey, I had a question. What do you think about bulking? Would that be gluttony?

    • @ExNihiloHealth
      @ExNihiloHealth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question. I'm sure there are a number of opinions on it. Here is mine. I think bulking could potentially be Gluttony OR Vanity or both. The key I think is the heart. What is your heart behind it? is it to look to food to be your God or comfort then gluttony could be the answer. If you bulk as a means of glorifying your body and "worshipping" the human body, I think its possible vanity is the problem. I think there could be a way to bulk as a means of overall health and strength and to do it in a clean eating, God honoring way. Gourging youself to be jacked alone may be a heart issue you need to explore.
