Nice work Sir. I have an XR15 G6 blue hanging very high over my sump. My par numbers were super low. I added the Hi intensity lens which helped a lot but still not packing the punch that I expected. I have two AI blade grows as supplements for my ATI Straton. They are delivery what I need as supplements but they are also sitting right on top of the tank. Didn't realize they were this low if mounted above the tank. They should let you keep the lights after putting out this great comparison video. 👍
@@Reefkpr1 thanks Phil! Yeah I’d be interested in testing the high intensity lens kit next to see what the difference is. I heard it makes a decent amount. I’ll add that to my to do list for sure. Gunna have to keep them blades above the tank on stock mounts! I’ll send the lights back and ask for some new ones to test out 😉
I know a guy who knows the backlash from vids like this, so good on ya for throwing it out there. And I'll be honest...I cringed at that mounting height. It totally benefits the Meridian. Placing the others at 13" ain't going to cut it for the relatively weak due to spread XR15 and Blade. Those are down-low lights. Other comments based on comments: 1. Those who suggest testing other lights should test the other lights! It's easy to talk, but doing takes a little extra effort. 2. You should see what the Uno 2 at 270W can do, and you have three different spread options out of the box. It's impressive. 3. Ecotech is not the standard. They've been marketed as the best, but that "best" thing did a good job of talking many, including me, out of their/my money. They're just another reef light. Nothing special. 4. Suggesting you recreate BRS' testing is silly. Although I think those tests started out cool, they quickly turned into a sales over quality tool. That, and the spectrometer they used was $3k. If you do dabble in spectrum, go Hopoocolor over PARwise. The latter sucks out loud. Last point from my side...that Meridian is relying on 448nm-ish royal blue to create all that PAR. The relative peaks of the other spectrums are way low compared to the royals. That's too bad, as others like Quanta and ReeFi know how to make very powerful $500 lights that have a much more complete spectrum.
Pretty sure the xr15 is rated for a lower mounting height (7inches) so not sure why you’re disappointed in it when mounting it 6 inches higher then recommended. Doesn’t make sense…
Rigth now in this modern era of reefing the par reading isnt more important than the spread and coverged of the light .Just look what are doing ecotech for good are bad they are the standard. And btw im not fan of the radion i have a kessil reefbrite hybrid.😊
Why we can't see the light fixture shining down in the tank? Why is the water in the tank white and the same for all the light fixutre that you test ? For me, this test is fake !
@@cezar050681 let me know what you would like to see, and I can remake the video implementing everyone’s criticisms in the comments. I’m not hear to say it’s Reefbreeders vs the world either. If there are better lights that people want to send me I will test them out and show the numbers. At the end of the day misinformation is something I’m not going to push, I don’t get anything out of that and it doesn’t do any good for the hobby. I will test the lights at the recommended mounting heights next time too. That was another persons concerns that I agree with. Do you have a tank size you would prefer to see the lights hang over? As for white water idk what you mean. All lights were tested under the same water. The back of the tank is a white plastic. Thanks 🙏🏻
@Arie_Idaho_Reef Hi, With no disrespect for you and your video, but the info it is a bit "thin". First of all we don't know with what have you measured the par.....you haven't mentioned it (I watched the video agai). We can't see you actually measuring the par correctly, did you measured in the center of the tank? On the side of the tank? Where did you got yours numbers? If you could replicate brs videos about par and Spectrum will be much reliable info. The white tank an water is the tank with the blue tape where you put the numbers in the light don't change in that. Or that is just for the referice not the actual testing tank? When you test/compare the lights is not everything about the PAR it's alsow about the spectrum, the spread and the color that the fixture is putting out. If you could do a video with live testings it will be more credible and accurate info. Pace
@@cezar050681 thank you for replying. The par meter I’m using is one Telegraham had recommended on IG a while back. It is the Vabira, I doubled checked it with a local reefers Neptune par reader and they were damn near identical. Unfortunately nobody locally had an apogee I could borrow. At first I wasn’t planning on making a video I was just going to post my readings on IG with the par maps I made that are shown in the video, so that’s why I didn’t have any B-Roll of the work being done. I tested the tank in 9 different locations at 4 different levels from bottom, middle, water line, and top of tank. The white tank was what I tested on. The tape was to give me a visual reference of centers when testing. I just reused the same picture for reference of the par averages in the video since that’s all I had to go with. I will make a new video and film the whole thing. I’m going to be listing my house for sale today so give me some time to move and remake. I appreciate your constructive criticism it’ll help me make better videos. I don’t know if I’ll be able to show the spectrums because I don’t have a spectrometer, but at least I can share some par readings. Best Regards, Arie
The Meridian SMOKED the competition. Nice work. I did wish there were some corals in the tank to see the pop and shimmer tho.
Great video! Very informative and well done.

Lol what are the chances you can do this with an Illumagic X4. I am tossed between my next light being 2 XR15 ( not any more ), 2 X4s, or a Meridian
@@swordsman111982 I think we can make that happen!
Can you test out the Reef Brite Pros as well?
