The wild ones have a boisterous "WARK!" and the domesticated ones have the subdued "Kweh!" and afaik it's always been that way. Fun attention to detail by the dev teams.

That's Final Fantasy 6. Back in the day they skipped some of games outside of Japan, so on the snes, Final Fantasy 2 is actually 4 and Final Fantasy 3 is actually 6
