When I originally played this game with my brother and his friend back in the day, I always renamed all of the characters after different fish. Trout, Bass, etc. My favorite was Salmon, I guess because it used all six characters. My jaw dropped when it came up in this run.
Great run. The terrible luck throughout it weirdly made the whole thing enjoyable. Great to see Zic manage through all of that. Zic and Foxy were a great pair. The whole 3 hour run was engaging and the high five at the end was a great capstone.
Is "Tepallah" a french bid war ? Because Tellah sounds in french like "T'es là" wich translates to "You're here", and Tepallah sounds like "T'es pas là", the opposite, so "you're not here". If so : gosh, this is genius !
In the Sealed Cave, I know you can't Teleport out because of the cut scene back at the entrance, but I remember from FFII US that you could still cast Warp to go up one floor, and get most of the way out that way. Is that also disabled in the Remaster, or is it just faster to walk than it is to cast Warp over and over? I would think with the random battles happening, it would usually be a time saver.
I was curious if after Rydia joins in the underground they would do the warp glitch to get a dark crystal that existed in the SNES version. I'm guessing that's patched or just not worth it anymore
Now I'm curious if there will ever be a Paladin % for the pixel remaster, or if there just isn't enough glitches to make it as interesting of a run as the SNES version.
I'd like to get the full bundle of the 6-games. But $75 is just way too much. $50 for the full bundle and otherwise $10 per game would make much more sense to me, but Square loves to overcharge for their old games. I also bet they'd get way more sales that way and it'd be a better profit than what they're getting now.
It's too bad they didn't install the SNES Font mod, would've been nicer to look at than the default font. But I'm guessing that would've caused text speed to vary.
Even with all but the no encounters cheat I'll still lv up Palom Porom lv 40 before you lose BOTH and still SOLO lv Paladin Cecil to lv 40 so theirs no way a first run even on the PIXEL version would take me around 3 hours it took me 10 to 15 instead.
At 1:25:24 you can see why I never liked this game. Replace two black mages with a jumpy dude who's attack takes up two whole turns. F this game for that.
"We sleep in our armor again, as one does, and we get ambushed by some soldiers" - that's exactly why he sleeps in his armor.
"If the run was like, turn off the music to be faster I'm like I'm not running this"

Fantastic run!! Thank you for the amazing showcase of one of the best FF!!
you say nobody asked for this but we wanted it - the zic/foxy duo is money in the bank! Enjoyed both this and the previous FFX run

He jinxed Demon Wall when he said Chadley couldn't die from it
The current patch now adds the Boost system that the consoles enjoyed first (4x EXP and GIL)

Good note on that. You have to be experienced in the early series to be aware of that
1:14:02 I had to do the walk of shame because I forgot to get the Twin Harp from Edward. Kept getting 1 shot killed by Dark Elf.

It's always nice to see zic, very chill to hang around to.

I'm new to final fantasy - it's so funny how these FF fans care so much about the font 🤣 43:00
Is “Bibithy” a Tim Rogers reference?
Tepallah having to murder himself after failing to die fast enough is an interesting speedrun strat.
Naming way card Fantasy Fantasy 9
just finished a run of 6hrs 57m using the boost system (4x EXP 4x GIL).
so with the pixle remastered why dont they turn off the random encounters, there is an option
Category rules forbid it for any%, there's a separate category for turning on boosts and no encounters.
its harder to find a game that 9 isnt linked to

Watching this made me realise I've nerfed myself.
One small complaint I had with this game was "there's no group heal."
I'm a f***ing idiot.
Why ?
Because it was programmed by NASIR !
