Sharks are very much in the news these days, especially with the current airing of Nat Geos Sharkfest and Discovery Channel’s upcoming Shark Week beginning August 9th. But closer to home, shark numbers along our shores are on the increase resulting in shark warnings along South Shore beaches and frequent reports of hooked fish, particularly striped bass, being bit in half by sharks. There are a number of reasons that could help explain what has been a dramatic increase in their numbers along our shores, but one thing is for sure. If you wanted to catch sharks, there has never been a better time.
