The excellent striped bass action in Raritan Bay and adjacent waters continued unabated this week with fish up to 30 pounds falling to casters tossing plugs and soft plastics, trolled MoJos, and those dunking bunker or clams. Small bass, predominately shorts, are spread the length of the South Shore. On the North Shore, the western Sound is still the place to be if you are looking for a keeper, while to the east, small bass have settled into most harbors.
It appears a spring run of cod has developed off of the East End following this winter’s disappointing fishing. Bluefish have put in some widely scattered appearances but a solid spring run has yet to develop.
Fluke are moving through the Shinnecock Canal as evidenced by the efforts of Capt. John Paduano on Wednesday. He caught and released a bunch of good size summer flatties while bucktailing for stripers and hoping for a weakfish or two. He did land several bass, along with some very big sea robins (Dream Boat hopefuls take note) but failed to connect with any weaks.
The openings of porgy and fluke seasons are closing in fast. Scup opens up next Wednesday, May 1, and fluke opens the following Saturday on May 4.

this is great i fish right off port jeff inlet ... cedar beach area. !!
Great spawning for all fish that runs up the Delware River last year n this year flooded n more rain coming😞not getting my license next year, last year this year big waste can't fish in flooded river, if you could God Blass you wish ya luck
nice palm trees. can you shed more light toward the east. you know shinnecock,peconic,gardiner's etc.
