    Bob, I had an 87 535IS it was one of the best cars I ever had in my life and some 16 year-old kid hit me and totaled it out. Little over a year ago I fell in my bathroom, broke my neck and my backand became quadriplegic and I had a beautiful E30 and I just sold it because I can’t drive it five speed transmission. I’m out of my wheelchair starting to walk. I’d really love to have that car. I prefer a stick shift but I can’t drive a stick anymore. I’m 72 years old anyway look forward to seeing it once you’re done playing with it. Broke my heart and gave it to somebody else. Dang it. Oh well wasn’t meant to be.

    Red 325is was my 1st car.. Got hit in the passenger side door and i always rode around with a grey door from that point on haha. Loved that car. She died with over 300k miles on her. You could drive these cars to death and that motor would just keep tickin.

    Congrats on another great find… these aren’t my favorite 80s cars, but you gotta respect the heritage.

    The USA relaxed its 5 mile an hour bumper requirement to 2.5 miles an hour after the 1987 model year, and wouldn't you know it, BMW still puts the park benches on their E28's right up to their final year of production for 1988, despite the much more attractive Euro bumpers being available for years everywhere else.
    Seems like a pretty nice guy. Usually you encounter people managing a "rust garden", and their attitude is, "Nah, come back later when there's more rust on it so I can ask for more money...: LOL.

      Yeah, my 1988 E28 still has the obnoxious bumpers. I've got a new set of euro bumpers I haven't yet installed, but they don't look like they'd even survive a 2.5 mph bump. Would they have complied back in 1988?

    8:30 Hi Mum and dad long time no chat. I used to have a 5 series with a 2.2L straight six. Mine was a 1989! So this is mine now! If I was in America. I am in the UK. Interesting, shame about that front wing...

    Just pop the dent in the fender and try and make it look decent.. no need to paint anymore than it needs.

    Wow Red is a rare color, my father purchased a brand new White 1983 - 533i from Helmuts BMW in Bridgeport CT, it was a screamer! (i think 4 or 5 speed manual). It had maroon leather. Wish we still had it.

    88 does not have more horsepower than 87.
    87 and 88 were the only two years in the US market for the 535is.
    They sold a M535i in Europe with and without Cats.
    But in 88 and 89 the 635i had the (new for 88) 735i motor with more horsepower

    • @houseofno
      @houseofno 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes the E24 6-series (made from 1977 to 1989) are known as the shark noses. Curiously, the pre-82 6-series were based on the earlier first generation E12 5-series, while the 1982 to 1989 cars were based on the second generation E28 5-series, despite the 6-series wearing the same basic body shell throughout its production run.
