- The Walking Dead is an American horror drama television series developed by Frank Darabont, based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. Andrew Lincoln plays the show's lead character, sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a coma discovering a world overrun by zombies, commonly referred to as "walkers". Grimes reunites with his family and becomes the leader of a group he forms with other survivors. Together they struggle to survive and adapt in a post-apocalyptic world filled with walkers and opposing groups of survivors, who are often more dangerous than the walkers themselves.

Based on what I just saw here, I am going to assume that Daryl is replacing Carols experience, and him and Dwight will team up, go to the kingdom and then the forces will aline. Sometimes comics are so much cooler than the actual show and stuff but it's whatever. Im a cinematic writer myself so I assume thats what's going to happen.
Dwight will probably still turn against Negan but it will be from the influence of the ghost character Daryl… I love Daryl but sometimes he messes up the story lol

I somewhat agree, but having one arm in the comics just made him not be my favourite character anymore in the comics, I mean really fucking Maggie tripped Rick because he had 1 arm. Thats what I love about Negan. You never know if he is fucking with you or if he is dead serious. Like his big confrontation with Rick, where Rick is like "Let's just be friends", and Negan goes "OMG Yes!". I was just waiting for Negan to kill Rick at that moment, but no, he actually stood there and thought about working together with Rick before getting his throat cut. That was totally Negan in a nutshell

Dolan Duck. Rick slash Negan's throat with his knife in issue 125. It was quite funny because the whole thing seemed like it was building up to Negan doing it to Rick. Basically everyone is fighting, and Rick says he is tired of fighting and want to work together. Then Negan acts like he has seen the light and goes "Wow! I never thought of that". Everyone reading this the first time thought that Negan was being sarcastic, but no, he actually lowered his weapon and started thinking about peace. Then Rick sliced him, but didn't let him die.

I love the comics. They are far more brutal than the tv show but the show is really good as well. It may not be on the big screen but it's always cool to see how comics play out with actors playing the roles of the characters.

People online keep talking about how TV show Negan is such a "badass". I realize most of these are kids who live out a power fantasy through the idea of Negan, but look at what he actually DID on the show. Sure, he flaps his gums well, but what did he DO? He killed two prisoners who were surrounded by his guards, and who didn't fight back. He got punched by Daryl, and Negan's guards had to rescue him (and pull Daryl off). Later, he shot some zombies with a fully-loaded automatic weapon (while Rick fought them hand-to-hand with an axe!). When exactly did Negan DO anything to prove he's a badass? Never, that's when.
I think it's more his character and less of his actions. By now, most people who watch the show know about the comics. They know about Negan, Ezekiel, and all those. So, they see Negan go in and kill two instead of one, and with the great portrayal, of course they're gonna say he's badass.
***** I give him a solid B+ for his monologuing skills. Can't deny that. As for actually being a badass himself... Time will tell. I should also add that I can only comment on the season premiere, because I decided to stop watching the show after that. To me, Negan is just a device the writers are using to set-up an elaborate revenge fantasy ("I can't wait to see someone kill that guy!"). I just don't care any more about watching another revenge fantasy storyline. The Governor was enough. I was hoping they'd be exploring other parts of the country, trying to find answers about the plague, trying to find out where the government went, trying to find out if there are any safe countries... Another long revenge fantasy just doesn't interest me. I am very grateful though, for the first several seasons!
VivaToddVegas If they follow the comics, then it won't be just another "revenge fantasy". Because Negan gets a vague redemption. I know they don't follow it 100%, but hopefully they do follow that.

I have a few thoughts rick is defo playing the long game, ammo is in short to supply but I think when the bullets start getting produced by eugine and king azeakeal, Jesus and rick get there crews together they will be up for a fight they can win, plus they got a CAROL and once Carol finds out that Daryl has been taken prisoner and Glen and Abraham have been Lucilled she is gunna go on one of her Rambo missions and Carol is 100 times as fucking awesome as Lucille.
It's ashame Carol wasn't that badass in the comics.

Thanks for your cliff-notes version of The Walking Dead. I don't have time to read the comics, so this allows me to understand what has happened in the comics and compare that to the TV show.

Oh my god the comic is so fucking good. The show is completely meh to me, like I cant take is seriously. Its alright, it has its moments. But It doesn't compete with the source material at all. The Walking Dead Comic feels alot more real, and they don't keep a fan favorite alive just cause they're a fan favorite. Hell you're lucky Robert Kirkman ain't fully incharge of the show, he would of killed Daryl instantly. But the comic is waaaaaayy better, nothing feels filler, everything is one big story. And it's fucking awesome.

Wow man, you broke this down really well. I was just as entertained as watching an episode. I'd have to say the comic seems as if it's better than the show, but of course, I love live action. You really gave me a better understanding of Negan and his purpose. I still don't like him, and probably never will, because of Abraham and Glenn. But, it's much easier to more or less love to hate him, than simply hate him. Glad you posted this vid.

mikfax I prefer Rick not having a hand because it feels more realistic for people to receive permanent damage during an apocalypse, and for it to be the main character makes the story better to me.
Also helps to show that Rick might not be the best fighter, but it is his leadership skills that make him strong and a great character.

... and that is what will kill Negan eventually. His methods create fear and resentment, and more enemies as time goes by. At some point, it'll come to a head, and Negan isn't invincible.
Also, no, he doesn't have feelings. He's a psychopath. You can tell in his words, and his behavior. Psychopaths have zero empathy, but they can learn how to emulate it: 'playing by the rules'. They *do* have a sense of ownership, as well. This is why he can apologize to Carl for hurting his feelings: he doesn't actually empathize with Carl, but he has become interested in Carl, and he knows that he has upset him and gives him the proper response. Nothing more.

Negan's victory is psychological.
Negan, in the comics, for all the bad he's done-- he still takes care of his people. He still wants to protect his people. ALSO: the people who Negan lead aren't exactly the most forward thinking people. They hang with Negan, because what are their other options? You have a Giant of a man who is protecting you and giving you a place to eat and sleep. Sure, you have to earn it... but it's better than the alternative of being outside on your own.

like walkers but they are not actually walkers but they are humans who kill walkers then wear the walkers skin over their own skin so they look like walkers but they also blend into the walkers because the walkers only smell humans and not humans who wear walker skins but they also blend in from humans because humans think they are walkers but really the are humans on walker skins and the walkers are spooky so the humans dont attack the walkers even though they are only humans in walker skins and not walkers

He was pretending to be "Broken". Like immediately after Glenn's death when he went back to Alexandria, he told everyone Negan was in charge, then like the next scene, he talks to Jesus secretly telling him he wants no one to know what they're really planning. He wants Negan to think he's broken so he won't expect nothing.
He was obviously broken. Negan killed abe, killed glenn, nearly killed rick himself and threatened to kill carl and then made rick believe that he needed to chop his own son's arm off. He also threatened to execute the entire group and make Rick watch and then keep him alive for a few years to stew on it. Rick knew Negan wasn't playing. He was a dog in that episode. Negan destroyed him.
Rick in the show was broken, rick in the comics was ready to fight the moment Glenn died. He played things way smarter
