Yeah, I agree. TBH, I would prefer keeping it online only. You wouldn't have the problem of people not making it. Plus, it keeps the best part of the tournament. The banter. Seeing the teams rooting for each other and talking shit is cool to see. But you lose all of that in the setting like this.
@@LoveguruAC I think at the end of the day taking the event to love like this is is just not as fun though. The viewer experience of being able to watch your fave coach or streamer and listen to them banter and cheering each other on is just unbeatable imo, that's the strength of the slam, it's the mix of all these guys together. I love Sajam, Yipes and Steve, but in an event like this, they are not really what I wanna hear the whole time. Not to mention having to drop some of the vtuber participants, that's a massive bummer
@@henriquerodrigues7795 I agree. Honestly Sajam's perspective is the one I watch the least from. Since it more fun and interesting watching the teams learn and banter together. The lost of some of the Vtubers is a big shame too.
I don't blame Sajam for taking the opportunity here - it gets more visibility on the tournament which in turn gets more visibility on the FGC which is the whole point in the first place - but I definitely think Sajam Slam should be online-only from now on. Some of the Vtubers not being able to attend, plus the setup issues, hurt my enjoyment of the tournament. Still, can't wait for Sajam Slam 4.
Those first matches with Sykkuno and Eskay was a travesty. Shoutout for Esfand, who was on the winning team mind you, for noticing the issue and fixing it. And shame for the organizers for not noticing and doing something about it. A rematch should have been made right there and then since it's pretty obvious that there was a huge input issue when suddenly Brawlpro was able to remember how to play SF6 properly. I know that it won't really make a huge difference since in the end Nephew's team is very strong but at least it won't leave a sour taste in my mouth for the integrity of the first two sets of matches and the entire tournament as a whole.
Disappointed in how this final was handled with the laggy setups. Sajam Yipes and Steve did great on the mics hope there will be another sf event and eskay and sykkuno can run it back. I don't understand how an event run by twitch who are the leaders in streaming eSports would set up fighting games on a laggy setup.
"Leader in streaming esports". They are only leaders in streaming, online. They don't have much experience at all with doing offline stuff, it's well out of their territory. Twitch is an entertainment platform that endorsed Bathtub content and Onlyfans lite content for a while. Let's not pretend like they have any experience in serious esports what so ever. The most they do is host streams on their site. This wasn't unexpected, even if it is a dumb mistake to make.
I was so hyped for this and rooting for eskay after all the hours she put in, but after finding out about that lag issue, I couldn't even bring myself to watch to the end because it was no longer a competition in my mind. I understand that nobody was at fault and twitch probably thought bigger tv = better or something, but it still stings that all these competitors' efforts went to waste because they were handicapped to be unable to show their best.
twitch is an incompetent pile of garbage and the fact that sajam slam went to twitch con is the the dumbest idea ive ever seen sajam have. just stupid decisions all around
Its a bit upsetting that a large chunk of our focus gets robbed by the unfortunate circumstances with the tv, and its understandable. Still Sajam put on a great event and I hope we keep getting them. Thanks Sajam for putting this on, and thanks to the creators for putting in so much effort and giving us a great show from day 1 to the finals.
Was looking forward to this event but I had to stop watching after the setup issues. Can't imagine how frustrating it must have been for the players to feel like their practice was a waste of time because of factors outside of their control. Hopefully next slam doesn't have these issues.
anyone who watched this from neph's stream will have seen that he quickly went to pick up his hitbox before huntress played. he had full trust that she'd win
It sucks that it overshadowed the rest of the tournament, but Brian's team getting screwed over and many of the competitors not even able to play at finals seem like clear signs that this event should be online-only from now on. That being said, Team Nephew deserved the win and I'm not convinced Team Brian_F would have beat them. Everyone in both teams is great, but even if Brian's team won two sets the one-two punch of Huntress and Nephew at the very end would have stopped them in their tracks. The only way they could have won IMO is if they won all of the first three sets against Nephew's team.
Coming here from Infernasu, having never heard of this tournament, but it seems immensely fun, professional commentary to excite the viewers, impeccable work really
The negligence of the staff at Twitchcon for not making sure that everything was setup in a way that all players could play their best really soured the whole thing for me. I feel so bad that Sykkuno and Eskay couldn't properly show off the fruits of their labor on an even playing field. I really hope you consider keeping future Slams online, or at least more closely associated with the FGC
The laggy setup ruined the whole thing for me. I'd been following Brian_F's team and especially Eskay's epic training arc through the slam, and seeing them get robbed like this is such a travesty. Such a letdown of an ending to an otherwise great tournament. I've loved the Tekken slams and everything leading up to Twitchcon, but... yeah, this was lousy.
@@wesslan_ I think the twitchcon final thing was just not as good in general, much rather they kept doing it online and kept the players too. I know Sajam already talked about why they did it this way, as a viewer I just don't think it was as fun
@@henriquerodrigues7795 Agreed. This way it's more like any other tournament, but what made the slam special was being able to follow along from the streamers' point of view. I thought they were going to play on the PCs they were using for streaming, instead of just all restreaming a couch match. Disappointed in that part too, but would have been "fine" with it if things actually worked properly.
@@manuelito1233 Saying Neph's team winning was an upset is kind of silly. I think Brian_F's team couild've made it farther is fair, but Huntress was probably the best player in the upper tier and had an amazing Chun. Neph is, well Neph. Lily also leveled up quite a bit over the course of the last week, and RRR has always looked solid for his tier as well. Brian_F's team winning wasn't necessarily going to make it far. Even though I think the lag was worse for them due to circumstances, Sykkuno's gameplan against Blanka was pretty bad, and Ultima is also still a solid player that could have still beat Eskay even without the lag. If it came down to another 2-2, Brian would likely still lose to JB, and then the rest of the tourney would've played out exactly the way it did.
@TenjinZekken no, it actually would had different results. Essay won 7-1 against Ultima in a run back after their match off screen. And sykkuno couldn't parry or dodge blankas roll attack or jumping grab due to the lag. He also won against lily while they were playing off screen
Same here... and without Dokibird, the team chemistry dropped a lot. Without the banter, laughter, and carefree, the team just ... isn't the same at all.
@Sajam Just curious if you had a say in the setup i.e. them using a TV instead of computer monitors. Cause it was pretty surprising to see them using a TV instead of monitors when they had so many PCs at the event. It is also commonly known in nearly any single gaming community that TVs have high response time, input lag and lower refresh rates compared to monitors which is why you never ever see a TV being played on in any event or competition. More so when money is involved. Also, if a TV is being used, they should have checked that it was in game mode before the competition even started. Also as a side note, whoever decided to use those setups could have easily just have a look at any previous FGC event setup and copied them for example EVO. Overall I would say the event was awesome and would happily watch the next Sajam slam. Considering this is the first time Sajam Slam was held live. I hope this is a learning lesson and for it to be done correctly if a live event ever occurs again. Thank you for once again hosting this event and am looking forward to the next one.
I was rooting hard for Team Brian F, especially Eskay and Koefficient. But the situation sucks, I had to stop watching and I hope it's figured out for future Slams. But Good job Sajam for giving more exposure to our passion
I was really rooting for Brian F's team and I was going to watch the whole thing regardless of their outcome but the whole tv situation really soured the mood, I couldn't keep watching after that sadly. I know it's a hard situation but the sentiment won't just leave like that.
I hope next year it can be like SFL that has live comms, maybe at least from the teammates who aren’t playing, bc it probably already a lot of pressure on stage for the player, but I felt like something was lost without the streamer POV banter, other than that, loved the slam and it’s cool how far the event has come
They could literally have 1 desktop setup and 2 chairs. Dont need another desktop and another copy of the game. Possibly the easiest setup for a competitive game but they have to use a TV, most likely for the presentation of 2 big chairs and a large screen.
Thanks for the Slam Sajam! The Slams are making me want to try fighting games. It stinks that Twitch's tech crew dropped the ball instead of getting a switcher. I love the team tournament format you've got going.
Sucks the tv issue, but overall another banger event in the books and seems like once again everyone had a blast Thanks for running yet another cool event!
welcome to FGC event's your playing with the controller on your lap anyways. Some players literally sit on the floor with their controller and play at EVO. Only problem with the setup was having a 60 inch TV to play on vs monitors at normal events.
Despite the setup issue, I just want to say these matches were fire! I felt like every tier of player knew what they were doing and had a game plan. Even if it was as basic as "Do Blanka Ball or command grab", to more mid level stuff like "throw sand blasts and use cr. HP to anti-air", to the highest level of gameplay from the coaches. I thought every match showcased how fun and deep the game can be from plenty of different skill levels. I was able to finish watching even after hearing about the lag, but I totally understand why people might be disappointed and not want to finish the matches. A part of me wants to say the bad setup isn't anything new to the FGC, even when it comes to big events/tournaments. But, those issues are mostly a thing of the past in the FGC itself and shouldn't be excused. To also hear that other games at the event had proper setups is pretty annoying. Hopefully, if the Slam goes offline again they take it to a proper FGC event like CEO or EVO. (Or maybe just have everyone show up at Sajam's place)

@@not_juano i didn’t know that, props to ultima! But it should’ve been an automatic thing from the organisers :/ the participants shouldn’t have to be the ones offering a rematch
They were playing on a big TV that initially had Movie Mode still on, which amounted to nearly a full second of delay. Esfand caught this after his first match, and asked staff for the remote so that he could change it to Game Mode. There was still lag, but it was also in a much more playable state. The rest of the players managed to make it work somehow, but Sykkuno, Gumi, Eskay, and Ultima got the worst of it.
I really can’t express how disappointed I was by what happened to Team Brian_F. It really feels like they got specifically punished for training solid fundamentals. Eskay in particular got completely robbed of her moment. After having to fight above her weight class, she spent so, so much time actually learning to be a better player. She clearly opted out of a short term gains strategy, and it was all set to come together for her on finals day. Instead, unplayable lag that just flushed all her reactions and precision down the toilet. Not only that, Gumi and Ultima have to have asterisks after their wins that they worked so hard for. I don’t know if this was really anyone’s fault, but it feels like this saga I invested so much emotion into just came to nothing.
I'm gonna be honest....without the team discords, without the banter and the coaching and the live responses from the actual teams the stars of the show? This finale just wasn't it, the input lag issues in the beginning only compound those issues. Not ONLY do I not get to see the teams that worked together attend together in a few teams case but I don't get to hear the hyping up and conversations from teams mid match and post match. Hand on my chest fuck the money I wanted to see and hear the PEOPLE more than anything and this fizzled out, hope we don't try this again in the future.
Oof definitely some letdown on the execution of this with the vtubers gone and a delay setup. Hope they can improve next time. Honestly i think theg ought to hold this like smash summit it would fit the vibe
Im not sure where the dislike for the offline finals comes from, it feels super natural for the finale of an FGC event to be offline given the history of the genre and how they didn't really have a big event to send people to afterwards like EVO for the previous slam to give them that offline FGC experience. The laggy setup thing was definitely unfortunate though and hopefully not something that happens again for future slams, still loved watching this whole event!
I don’t think it’s a distaste of offline finals in general, it’s just that for this particular event, you lose out on the opportunity to watch in on all the different perspectives. That is what I find to make this whole event shine. It’s what a lot of people watch this even for, to see these players learn and have fun. The team pop offs, the banter, the camaraderie, we miss out on a lot of that when it’s offline. I can definitely see why offline can be cool, but it also makes sense why some might prefer online finals.
There's also the Vtuber issue. A lot of them were able to come, but many Vtubers have to remain anonymous whether for personal or corporate reasons, and given how many of them were in this tourney, excluding them from the finale really stings. I'm not against offline finals in theory I guess, but unless the next roster has virtually no Vtubers at all, it should stay online.
It's a shame that an entire set was just thrown away for nothing. Kinda guts the whole point of the slam and makes it/you look bad, no? Like, Eskay and Sykkuno practiced so fucking hard for nothing.
Sajam you should do a video about what "getting good" means to most ppl and what you think it means. In LoL many Challenger players think master players are trash even though they are top .5%, I'd be curious to know peoples and pros mindsets on it. Also master rank in sf6 is only top 10% which is like Emerald 3-2 in league. Getting top 10% is definitely GOOD, but it just depends on the persons perspective and if they remember how hard it was to originally climb snd gain all those skills

Laggy set up would of never happened at actual fighting event, Twitch really dropped the ball. Feel bad for Sykuno and Eskay. Eskay got scammed by the airline and the set up
I only decided to watch this Slam because of how much I enjoyed the first 2 slams and trusted that the event as a whole would be fulfilling to watch even though I come from Tekken and never really liked Street Fighter (or any other fighting game tbh). But as soon as I saw Huntress play in the first round robin, I had a strong urge of "I wanna do that" and I think I might buy SF6. My wallet is gonna hate Huntress for it. Thank god Chun li is not a dlc character
Obligatory FeelsBadMan for team Brian_F. Obligatory no shade to Sajam. It wasn't his fault.
But Sykkuno rejected a really high paying Samsung sponsorship to be at the event. Brian cancelled a much more important tournament to be at twitch con to support his team.
60" LG TV on Movie Mode 2:0 Team Brian_F
Its on 50% sale, best time to get it because Terry is dropping on the 24th.
@@Wi3rdGuy Woah I checked the price but the dlcs/deluxe editions are too damn expensive even on sale man.
Its either the base version or nothing for me.
Even for Tekken 8, I only bought the base version when it was on sale cuz I don't think the dlc characters are worth that much money.
I might eventually buy them 3 or 4 years down the line if they decide to bundle all of the dlc characters in one cheaper package
@@aqueelkadri8371 If they do that there will almost certainly be an upgrade for base-version owners.
!!! That's so sweet 🥺 SF6 is most definitely hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, the game feels incredible!!! I think the game should be around 50% off on Steam right now
Glad people are calling out the blowup. We know it's not your fault sajam but I think we all would prefer to see these events be more grassroots in the future.
if we had more events like this they might get better at hosting them, this event is kinda unprecedented
Most hype sajam slam yet. it has been such a blast to watch it all! i really hope this will continue in the future! :D
Rip… was rooting for Team Brian F and it’s sad that technical difficulties kinda messed them up.
I mean....this is twitchcon we see talking about. I wasn't expecting much
"Leader in streaming esports".
They do not have offline experience and I'm pretty sure the casual staff wanted a living room feel that's how we ended up here. But it sucks
Same 100%. I hope that Eskay and the rest of the team stick with Street Fighter, because they were so fun to watch up until the finals
twitch is an incompetent pile of garbage and the fact that sajam slam went to twitch con is the the dumbest idea ive ever seen sajam have. just stupid decisions all around
Huntress is insane
thanks for putting on this awesome event. was fun watching the whole thing!
The only way they could have won IMO is if they won all of the first three sets against Nephew's team.
koef beat huntress in the last round robin bracket before the finals jus sayin! But both very strong players i would have loved to see the match again
@@brawlpro You did great in the tournament man!
@@einootspork THANK U!
So disappointing to see how hard eskay trained for this event but didn’t get to show it off because of the terrible setup!
I think she was training, if I recall from brawlerpro like 9 hours per day....
Don't forget Sykkuno.
Coming here from Infernasu, having never heard of this tournament, but it seems immensely fun, professional commentary to excite the viewers, impeccable work really
Insane how a TV was even used for a fighting game setup, smh
These matches were hot, but the couch was burning. What a dream-team of commentators. Thanks for all the hard work everyone.
"Fighting games are fun" - Tokido
The laggy setup ruined the whole thing for me. I'd been following Brian_F's team and especially Eskay's epic training arc through the slam, and seeing them get robbed like this is such a travesty. Such a letdown of an ending to an otherwise great tournament. I've loved the Tekken slams and everything leading up to Twitchcon, but... yeah, this was lousy.
Same, i checked out after watching that, i just skipped to seeing the grand finals match, surprise nephew won lmao, ggs to him, but HUGE upset.
I've been following brians team for the entire slam and seeing them getting robbed by a laggy setup is just heartbreaking
Same here... and without Dokibird, the team chemistry dropped a lot. Without the banter, laughter, and carefree, the team just ... isn't the same at all.
Brian_F’s team got robbed (mostly by technical issues), and I wish Dokibird could’ve been there, but I’m glad she managed to possess Sykkuno.
I really loved the tournament and it was great seeing the finals.
These were some good matches, great to see how much everyone has grown since the start of this.
Looking forward to the next one Mr Jams.
Put that wig on your HEAD Sykkuno!
Fuck the lag, the real reason Sykkuno lost was that he never wore the wig
You can faintly hear him when the others were telling him to put it on that the hair gets in the way and he wouldnt be able to see XD
@@RandomGuyCDN skill issue
nah but he did the full cosplay of doki's outfit as well. allow him
I was rooting hard for Team Brian F, especially Eskay and Koefficient.
Huntress really popped off in grands holy
I Hope it was fun for the players, and I can't wait to witness the next Slam!
after hearing Eskay's watching 20:30 is really rough of how many drops she made
Despite all the tech issues I love the ending is summarizes to Nephew being like “wtf team, I’m disappointed” for having to play and 2-0 Shine.
Yipes, Steve, and Sajam as a trio is peak commentary. Always puts a smile on my face hearing you guys on the mic!
4:44 "the person he struggled the most against was Doki"
If you can't beat 'em, become 'em.
This was so good, that RedRiot Vs Fumi match was hype Lol.
I hope next year it can be like SFL that has live comms, maybe at least from the teammates who aren’t playing, bc it probably already a lot of pressure on stage for the player, but I felt like something was lost without the streamer POV banter, other than that, loved the slam and it’s cool how far the event has come
Am sure Sajam is exhausted right now 😂
lily did so great she was so impressive
They could literally have 1 desktop setup and 2 chairs.
Dont need another desktop and another copy of the game.
Possibly the easiest setup for a competitive game but they have to use a TV, most likely for the presentation of 2 big chairs and a large screen.
I have not been this invested in a FG tournament in YEARS. I hope Sajam Slam never ends 😢
I wish they could've redid first two sets because of the insane input delay, but it's unfortunate they have to just roll with things as they go.
This event is amazing and I can't get enough of it.
Thanks for the Slam Sajam! The Slams are making me want to try fighting games. It stinks that Twitch's tech crew dropped the ball instead of getting a switcher. I love the team tournament format you've got going.
"so lily how did you feel up there, are you nervous?"
"fighting games are fun"
so true Lily so true
Sucks the tv issue, but overall another banger event in the books and seems like once again everyone had a blast
Thanks for running yet another cool event!
as almost youtube only viewers, I appreciate this video
Ahhh man the lag kind of was a let down. Had to stop watching it but hopefully next years is better.
too bad after esfand and BP fixed it the matches were pretty sick
LFG Neph!!! Def deserved. The hardest working mfker I watch!!! Hope you win the next big one!!!!!!!
Shout outs to Brian F always keeping it classy!
Lets go my guy infernasu and his team got second i can respect that
Damn, this setup thing is so messed up. Having to play on a TV, with your controler on your lap and lagging. Letdown
welcome to FGC event's your playing with the controller on your lap anyways. Some players literally sit on the floor with their controller and play at EVO. Only problem with the setup was having a 60 inch TV to play on vs monitors at normal events.
@@RandomGuyCDN didnt know that, doesnt mean it doesnt suck ass tho
what nephew said about his own team was really funny lol
Yes I’m glad team nephew won. I was rooting for them the whole time
Despite the setup issue, I just want to say these matches were fire!
1:15:09 steve mentions someone having "it's lily time" and says that person is a real fan
i'm sure that's michael reeves at 1:12:22, her boyfriend, haha
Fucking surreal that this even happened. Thanks for putting in the effort!
Team nephew all the way
Illy and huntress I knew they could do it
GOATED EVENT
That "HELLO!" At the beginning sounded too much like Vanoss, I thought I clicked the wrong video LOL
Big ups infernasu
So… we’re not gonna address how Sykkuno and Eskay (and team Brian F) got royally fucked over? Shouldve had a rematch the moment the issue was fixed.
ultima said he would've agreed to rematch but genuinely didn't notice the delay at all and no one told him until after the match was done
@@not_juano i didn’t know that, props to ultima! But it should’ve been an automatic thing from the organisers :/ the participants shouldn’t have to be the ones offering a rematch
Gumi is a certified lag demon
What was up with the TV issues I saw people talking about?
It was stuck in movie mode which has like motion smoothing, which caused almost a second of lag
TV was in movie mode so there was around a ~1s of input lag for the first couple of matches.
@@Fuduwahluznot that much but yeah, a lot losing more than 5 frames is pretty much unplayable
Amateur hour over at twitch con
Shoutout to Sajam! the matches were really hype.
Can't twitchcon set up remote environment for vtubers like in Japan?
What a horrible setup for this event, everything felt like, okay we have to do this event fast, so we can end it soon.
Shoutouts to input lag gotta be one of my favorite genders
Sucks about the setup, I was rooting for team brian f
Loved the event! Unfortunate about the beginning and sad we didnt get to see more of the Doki Geif
Can someone explain to me what winning RPS at the start does for a team? I'm not familiar with how these tournaments work.
We just cannot escape JPs theme 😂
I'm gonna be honest....without the team discords, without the banter and the coaching and the live responses from the actual teams the stars of the show? This finale just wasn't it, the input lag issues in the beginning only compound those issues. Not ONLY do I not get to see the teams that worked together attend together in a few teams case but I don't get to hear the hyping up and conversations from teams mid match and post match. Hand on my chest fuck the money I wanted to see and hear the PEOPLE more than anything and this fizzled out, hope we don't try this again in the future.
I see you in the box logo sajam didn’t know you were about it like that. 💧
1:09:38
Our shorty is here guys get him for 10 ranked points
Oof definitely some letdown on the execution of this with the vtubers gone and a delay setup. Hope they can improve next time. Honestly i think theg ought to hold this like smash summit it would fit the vibe
Great time
Im not sure where the dislike for the offline finals comes from, it feels super natural for the finale of an FGC event to be offline given the history of the genre and how they didn't really have a big event to send people to afterwards like EVO for the previous slam to give them that offline FGC experience.
CONGRATS INFERNASU❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Sajam you should do a video about what "getting good" means to most ppl and what you think it means. In LoL many Challenger players think master players are trash even though they are top .5%, I'd be curious to know peoples and pros mindsets on it. Also master rank in sf6 is only top 10% which is like Emerald 3-2 in league. Getting top 10% is definitely GOOD, but it just depends on the persons perspective and if they remember how hard it was to originally climb snd gain all those skills
Marvel Slam When!?
That's a nice wig
