I totally agree with you, that if your craft room is messy then you won’t want to go into it. My crafts have completely taken over the dining room and I’ve nowhere to put anything else in there. I am hoping to buy a shed to use as a craft room, depends on the price, then of course, it would have to be damp proofed. I am totally jealous of your studio and how tidy it is.

Sorry, I watched you again and i had a laugh when you opened the one drawer and said--
    Oh, my drawer of crows....lol

I loved the pandemic, except for my family in the house, nobody could bother me. And after about 1 month, we who live together all put up space boundaries where we would leave each other alone, all in all that massive personal space worked out well for all of us.

I’m just like you Ceri that my space needs to be tidy for me to be creative. If it’s cramped or messy, I can’t think and my anxiety goes overboard, I’ll walk out of room and close the door. Your studio space is amazing and I love seeing some of your creations. Your drawers, boxes with ephemera covered with your art are fantastic. Thank you for sharing your studio my Brother! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this fun time with you. Big love! ❤

Hola Ceri.

    Good for you Ceri!
I listened to you talk and as you did, I thought....
You are singing to the choir!!!
It took me years as well to have my own space to create. I had a small corner in my living room for years with my craft supplies. I just got my own little room and im 64. When you said you found it hard create with things all about,...you hit it. I was an art assistant for several years in school. The one thing I learned from my art teacher was to put things back when you were done. You make time...then when you walk back in, your visual is ready for a new day to create.
Thank you for sharing your special place with us.

It’s a mixture of mess (things that don’t have a home) and organization (things that have a home). I call it the babe cave 😊 and it took me almost 50 years to get, it’s my happy place!

A messy craft room is definitely what keeps me from being my creative best. I like your idea of having a dedicated space for everything which keeps you from amassing too much. That’s probably my biggest vice is having too much. I’m working through using up what I have and then definitely going to start having dedicated spaces with allotments to keep it under control. I also have a "boatload" of counted cross stitch that needs framing. I also have a quilt top that I need to send off for quilting. I realized I'm quite fond of piecing, as I thought I might be, but I knew I wasn't going to do hand quilting!! I like putting the pieces together. (I'm addicted to jigsaw puzzles! But no room to leave them out to work on.) It's like jigsaw puzzles but I found I'm not fond of cutting out all those pieces of fabric. and I now realize it is rather expensive to get a quilt top quilted. I've found I love paper crafting as much or more than sewing so I'm transitioning to that. I love how organized your studio is. I definitely can use it for inspiration. TFS 💖💖💖

Hi Ceri, your newest subscriber here, Namaste from India! You're the second Wales / Yorkshire person I admire. The first is James Herriot. I've been his greatest fan since my childhood. I wanted to be a vet like him, as I love animals (and yes, like you say in one of your videos, I too would rather go into a room of animals, rather than a room of people!), but alas it was not meant to be for me, for various reasons.
I am a self taught hobbyist / artist / craftist. I do a variety of things rightbfrom painting, glass painting, relief work, murals, decoupage etc. Just love your Pringle towers, bottle lamps etc.
Journaling is new to me. I am so glad I happened to come across your videos a couple of days ago. I've been almost binge watching some of them whenever I find time. You are such an inspiration! I love your art (yes, every piece you make is a piece of art!), calm soft voice and the gems of humour and wisdom. I loved that you called your art space your craft cave. Do retain that, if you can... It's so much you and so unique. A man generally refers to his den as his cave, and i think it's so appropriate your calling it a craft cave. You could call it your art cave too. Almost everyone calls their space a studio, and its so generic sounding... So not you. I love the way you're so organised, down to having little neat boxes for your itsy bitsy stuff. Some male artists / craftists I have seen on TH-cam for the most part are so 'rough and tough' in the way they use things, their garages are so messy, paint etc everywhere. Few are as organised as you. Even your videos are a beauty to watch, methodical and organised, explained step by step from start to end. It's an absolute pleasure to warch and learn from you.
Your craft cave is something I hope to attain in the next few years. I'm 58, used a corner of the dining table, then a corner of the living room for my art work for some years, using a folding table, with my supplies stored wherever I could find space in cupboards etc with the majority on a metal storage rack in 1 balcony. (i work full time). That balcony was recently converted into a library with a desk for my office work and art work, and now we are getting some shelves and credenzas made, to store my essentials. It won't be a big room as neatly organised as yours, but I'll get there one day!
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous art and bits of you so frankly!
Love to your sis and Biscuit (could we see him too sometime? We only hear him barking, sounds a sweet chap)!

I totally agree, my creative space is my haven as well. I've been blessed to have a dedicated space for sometime. The first one was a smaller bedroom but, I was still working from home. I didn't move down to the main floor for years yet it still housed both my crafts (hubby took over the smaller room as his music room) along with it being my office. I didn't retire until I was 68, so I've had this totally to my crafts for the last six years. Your studio is wonderful. Love how you have at hand what you need and yet can swap out or expand an area when you are doing a specific type project. Well thought out. You are so much more disciplined than I with keeping your things so well organized. Such wonderful inspiring supplies. What an amazing idea, coffee in your room. I dare not even entertain that idea or I would over indulge as I used to go through two pots a day. No longer, now I limit myself to one cup of coffee in the morning and one cup of tea later in the afternoon. Loved seeing your studio, thank you for sharing. I'd love seeing your work on your walls. You are so very talented and you have much to offer all of us who watch you.

Hello Ceri. I discovered you from watching videos from The Halfass Crafter, because I was looking for a much more efficient way of creating bits to put in journals for my daughter. She explained the "masterboard" concept, and I was hooked! Very much like scrapbooking plans from Club Scrap, which I fell in love with because of the tiny amounts of wasted products in their plans. I started on my creative journey at a young age, embroidering pillowcases that Grandma crocheted edges for - treasures now! In High School, I created my first collage, though I didn't think of it as such at the time - gluing things to the top of an old card table that I used as my desk (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and the pioneers crossed the wide prairies in covered wagons). After I married and had babies, most of my creating was limited to embroidery projects that could be stored out of the reach of little ones, and it wasn't until we moved from Pennsylvania back to Illinois that space was located for a dedicated room for me -- a no-walls, floor-joist-ceiling-with-concrete-floor basement space. When my husband said , "I don't know what you're so excited about. Your craft room will be the LAST room that gets done!!", I grabbed my 12 year old son and dragged him to the big box lumber store, and bought a 10 foot piece of countertop. He and I built legs to support it and one end rested on a 2-drawer filing cabinet. I discovered scrapbooking and paper crafting then, and it's been "Katy, bar the door" since then!! We have now retired to northern Alabama, and I have a lovely room that I temporarily share with my daughter (she has 1/3 as her office until she saves a bit more to buy her own house). I feel SO inspired by you! I've made my first 5 master boards - certainly some more successful than others, but I feel like I'm back on track, learning new things, and have my "mojo" back!! Wish we could sit down and have a cup of coffee together!! You have even inspired me to post some of my creations on FB, not for any affirmation from anyone, but to crow about what I'm proud to have created. I grew up having been told "don't brag", and at 65 years, I feel like it's time for this rooster to do a little crowing!! And piss on 'em if they don't like it -- it's better than the political BS and negativity that pushed me into my quiet little corner where I didn't say anything. THANKS for the inspiration!!!! Can't wait to watch the rest of your videos!!

What fabulous memories and a great journey you’ve been on, I’m so happy you’ve found a place in your life where your re-found creativity can blossom. Sharing art with the world just adds beauty to it, some will love what you do and sone people enjoy being haters, if you get negativity just let it go as I do. Like you I’d rather share art than look at the garbage that most times circulates on social media.

Always believe in yourself Ceri, look at how many folk you inspire. Only do what you can do each week.. the demands by folk are just the confirmation as to how popular and inspirational you are. Your studio is fab and so well organised and that has inspired me to sort my chaotic space out. Thankyou for all of your hard work and wonderful talent that you share with us all. Night hun xx

What a great studio! I do agree w/you about if your room/space is messy then you don't feel like creating. I wanted lots of choices, over bought, was forced to move from my house (had a craft room) to a small apt.; so I have to craft in my livingrm. There was no way I was going to stop crafting/creating. I would go insane. Slowly working my way to making it more manageable.😑. Thanks for sharing your lovely studio.

Envious of your space. It’s giving me a kick in the backside to get in my tiny space and tidy up. We live in a very tiny house and I share my pantry, closet, with my crafting area. I did spend yesterday doing gel printing at our community center. Lots of big tables and room to spread out. But that means carrying everything up there and back again. Thanks for sharing and caring.

I know what you mean about the retirement age. In The Netherlands it used to be 65. But when I approached that, they went and put it up to 67! And it's still going up, depending on your year of birth. For me it is set on 67, so I have a couple more years to go ( 64 now). And who knows, maybe I'll win the lottery too, just like you will! 🍀

Your videos are awesome and I’d rather watch your quality videos three times a week than like some, a video a day but repetitive and boring. We are the same age and Australia keeps moving the goal posts on the retirement age too. One day we will have every day to ourselves. The age here is 67.5. 😕 Love your studio and storage ideas. I look forward to every single video you do. ❤👏👏👏

I must say seeing such a gifted person with a heart n passion for what you do & allowing us to see how human you are is such a vulnerable gift you have given us all. I would like for you to know, from one human to another, it is absolutely NOT taken for granted. It does not go unnoticed n appreciated. I for one have found that I have thrown a lot less of my self proclaimed failures away. It’s like by you showing us that not all creators do the perfect project gives us a sense of “it’s ok to have to walk away from a project for a breather” to allow us to see it with new eyes. I sure hope that didn’t come off wrong. I’m saying that knowing that our favorite creators have lil hiccups from time to time reminds us we are human & it’s ok for something to not be what we had intended it to be. Most importantly for us NOT to trash a project just because it takes a different course added with the ideas you inspire us to try a different method to correct a problem or choose another path is PRICELESS.. If that makes sense. Thank you for allowing us to see your space. That’s a dear gift to all of us who admire you as we do. Annnnnddd fyi I miss the gnome 😂🤣😂

I discovered junk journals during the pandemic-now I do collage and art journaling too-and so many creators show how they keep every tiny scrap “to use on something later.” So for a long time I thought that’s how you do it, save EVERYTHING. While I appreciate the idea of being resourceful, hoarding goes against my tendency to be tidy. You Ceri gave me permission to evaluate my stash, donate, give away, throw away, and I have a very neat craft studio. Thank you! I enjoy your channel!

I really like watching your videos because you come over as "real" - I hope that doesn't sound too crazy. I especially like it when crafters keep their oopsies in, that way I don't feel so incompetent when I make one myself 🙂 Would you make more than three videos per week that could probably lead to "overexposure"? Right now I'm sure I would like to watch them but I think it would be like having your favourite cake every day - one day it wouldn't be your favourite anymore, and then would come the day you don't want any cake because you can't stand that stuff any longer 😐 Thank you so much for showing your "craft cave" 🥰

I went from my “crazy craft room” to my studio for ALL the same reasons! Puttering is essential. I am always changing where things are. But eventually things go back where I’ve labeled them, because I have label places so I can remember what fits where!

I love a “space” tour, as they inspire me, so thank you. I’ll be 59 this year and hearing that you achieved your designated space at age 60 gives me hope! What a beautiful space that it is.. You are so organized.. I agree.. I do get frustrated when my room is messed up.. I also love to scrapbook and I have 5 children and all their school memorabilia is in my room as well, I am not up to date with their scrapbooks, so I have many years of school papers/notebooks and memories that need to be completed in their books and get my messy room cleaner and more organized. You are a great influence for us.. Thanks for sharing your lovely room with us.
