Today, the scar is almost invisible, and I have most of the sensation from the trigeminal nerve - just slight loss of feeling in my earlobe. I agree to some extent, but when it was small, he could have had it removed and made monthly payments until it was paid off. Health insurance is a relatively recent thing. In the past, people paid doctors in installments. I’m sure it’s still possible.
A sad reflection of the US health system. I'm glad I live in Australia. Something like this would have been taken care of years ago at minimal or no cost to the patient.
This poor man. That is just crazy and I loathe medical people that deny treatment due to lack of insurance or general apathy saying it’s “cosmetic”. The UK NHS won’t pay for anything any more to help patients unless they are illegal immigrants. I have skin issues that I requested a dermatology appointment 3 years ago and I am still waiting, despite the websites all saying the waiting lists are a maximum of 18 weeks! My skin is getting more infections by the day and I can’t see myself reaching the top of the list before I die (I’m 51!!) as they just don’t care. It’s just insane all this wait as I can’t believe there are so many people in my catchment area that need to see a dermatologist. On chasing it up they have told us that it’s at least a 56 week wait. Our NHS that used to actually help people now do nothing - no referrals, can’t get any appointments, different doctors every other week so there is zero continuity of care. It’s so unfair. I hope this man is now fully recovered.
What an incredible transformation. The end result is amazingly tidy given the size of the tumour and how stretched the skin was. Drs Osborne and Hamilton are truly skilled. Tim's eyes and face look so much brighter after the surgery. What a shame no one could have helped him before it got to this point. Not just that but that they told him it was just a cyst and not to be worried. I understand that cysts are technically cosmetic because they don't threaten your life, but when something gets to a certain size it is obviously a major strain on someone and they deserve to be treated regardless.
