  • This is part 3 of the 2007 Honda Civic that lost communication in the F-CAN circuit. Fin out what the problem was, and what the communication line is supposed to look like. Hope this helps many out there dealing with this problem, although it's not for the DIYer...

The Homie Hektor hey hektor I was hoping you could help me out. My 08 civic si pretty much has the same exact symptoms as this civic u worked on. I unplugged the abs and it still didn’t work. I took it to a mech to get it diagnosed and he wants me to get a whole new control cluster model and wants to charge 1300 for everything. I’m convinced my cluster works because I didn’t the diagnostic tests and all my lights turn on. I’m kinda lost at this point and was hoping if u could offer any solutions

Don maestro, your troubleshooting is awesome.
Working on separate CAN network misbehaving is never a cake walk.
You cornered it logically by probing the CAN-Sigs and disconnecting ghost modules

Thank you, Hector for your explanation. I am also an electronic troubleshooter and your methods at solid. I replaced the brakes and the serpentine belt on my 2015 Accord EXL 3.5L. After putting the car back together I had the FCW fault, ABS fault, LDW fault, tire pressures fault, and steering fault. After immediately thinking I did something wrong during the brake rotor/pad install on all four corners, I wasted hours going back over that. After watching your video, O realized the ABS controller was the one I took loose to put the serpentine belt in. Just didn’t get the connector seated all the way. Thanks!!

I think it was around $2200. So not bad. But that was also after I went in a cussed them out and called all their service reps and techs incompetent and useless. Hence why my car was overseen directly by the service manager and a Honda engineer and also got a fat dicount. My car was at the dealership for 4 months but the first 2 months it sat there and they didn’t even touch it cause they didn’t know what was wrong with it or what to do. And they never answered my calls or called back when I left voicemails. That’s why I went in in person and cussed them all out.

Hi thanks for this video, I currently experience same as this video topic you post in my Honda Civic 2008, according to my customer it just gone wrong after he re-fuel his car. then the following day, No more Signals or indication light such as battery, oil, check engine MIL off at all, then fuel and temp gauge not working and the tachometer also not working as well as the Day time saving is not working. And what worst of is is that the AC compressor also not working but the climate controller are powering ON ( only blower working). Is this symptoms can be same as mine? Pls reply, tnx

my 05 Acura TSX went into limp mode outta nowhere a few mts ago with U0107 DTC (lost communication with TAC module). i followed factory service manual chart & all voltages, continuity/resistance checks were normal. replaced TAC module. no fix. code won't clear. i don't have a bidirectional scan tool or scope. there's no CAN lines at DLC.. it's ISO 9141-2 so just k line but i do know of one connector behind the dash with direct access to CAN H & low. the other day i decided to do voltage & resistance checks at APP sensor, those were normal too but i felt like i didn't get the connector pushed all the way into sensor. i obv didn't bc i pulled codes again and had a code for each APP sensor but also a U0155. the gauges all work tho. would there be any way for me to do any further diagnosing using just a multimeter and Bluetooth scan tool or am i to the point where I'll have to have to get better tools? do you know if it'd be possible to get waveforms just from a DLC adapter to laptop or would i need to hook directly to CAN lines for this info? any help is greatly appreciated!!

it's not based on DC Voltage. You need a scope to look at CAN datagrams

Good afternoon I can bother you I have an automatic Honda civic 2008 with the same problem, I do not speak English but I would like to know if the communication returned when disconnecting the abs module or did you do something else? Thanks in advance for your valuable response.

hector navarro Yes the communication returned, you didn’t see it in the video but if you cycle the key and give it a minute you’ll see it. Bad ABS module 👍🏼

I wish you could be working on my wife’s 09 Accord coupe these guys had the car a week and some days . She took it in without me checking where she was going , exercising independence I guess so I have been slow walking getting involved I’m a 20 plus year shade tree mechanic trained by a certified master mechanic who wouldn’t work in my cars. Good job in that man.
