It can also be caused by an electrical issue such as a bad battery or you alternator going out because it won't be able to maintain a charge therefore it will cause your vsa light to turn on and cause your car to stall so you can also test your battery and alternator

I chased my tail for a week with this issue on a used car I bought. Replacing the solenoid valve did not fix it. An oil change with the engine hot is what fixed it. Seems the Vtech system is sensitive to sludge in the oil. The problem has not returned in over a year. I’d recommend a hot oil change first.

Great Video Thanks. 2006 Honda Element. Note to the cheapos out there like me. If you remove the solenoid as Techie Life showed us in the Video, Remove the screen from the old solenoid gasket. reinstall the gasket without the screen on the solenoid. Re-install the solenoid on the car and your back in VTEC power without having to wait for the new part.
Why does this work? By removing the screen you automatically increase oil pressure and your solenoid is happy again. It's Easter Sunday and I can't get my hands on the new part. So I tried just removing the screen and "ill be darn" it runs like a champ for zero $$

Bad idea to remove screen. I worked for a company that made variable timing components. Something as small as a pepper flake was considered contamination as it could clog the passage ways in the valve (which is the problem in the first place with oil sludge)

I have the same problem, my 2009 accord won't go over 10 to 20 mile/h.honda dealer told me the starter
For almost close to $700.00 . I drove it then the same problem came back, this time the Honda dealer said
I need to replace one ignition coil I said ok ,they replaced it for $90.00 drove it the same problem came back
I was fed up, so I parked it ,till one friend advise me to go to his mechanic friend..he checked it he saw that
It misfiring on all cylinders, he found out that the problem was the engine.cost me another $1500.00
So the starter, ignition coils, spark plugs, for me was just money wasted.

Change the oil and filter every 10,000km/6500ml using a 0w-20 synthetic oil and reputable filter.
V-tec's will practically go forever if you do this.

      Try doing an oil change.

Could also be the little filter for the VTech solenoid. It's kind of hidden behind the belt tensioner
