And here I am asking strangers on the internet to pray for me..for things to get better.Thank you.
I am 3 years post-tithe bondage. Nearly 13 years of the jewish way giving with 3 tithes plus matching offering to the tithe. It was nearly 30% of the net income. What a freedom to learn the truth of cheerful, free giving! And that I am not under the covenant that tithing was required.

By GOD's mercy alone, I have been part of a biblically sound Baptist church a few years now. There has never been a single sermon on tithing or anything to do with wealth, gain or money! The church operates by a constitution which mandates AGMs, where finance is reviewed openly. Budgets are agreed on by the whole Body and where there is a shortfall, it is the Body who decides to give, cheerfully and according to the leading of The Spirit. And The church continues to thrive. To GOD be the glory!
People who don't tithe and on their way to hell can say the same thing, the sun shines on the just as well as the unjust it has nothing to do with tithing.
They make God seem like the lottery, if you give a little, you MAY get even more in return. God is so much more than a provider of physical needs, He is so rich in mercy, goodness,patience,wisdom and holiness and that's where true riches lie.
How hard it is to follow the Lord. He tells us to give everything up for Him, for the Kingdom, which is as a treasure in a field that a person would sell all he has, just to obtain. If the Kingdom of God is not worth giving up everything, not worth being unattached to all worldly things, then the Kingdom of God is not for that person… It’s important to remember that our reward is not in this world. I have to say I partly agree with you both. I do believe God blesses those who give, but not because they expect it or not for them to store it up for their own riches. I believe He gives to those who know how to give or how to use what they've been given to bless others. I was thinking about this the other day. Some people are only willing to give because they think "God will just give me more"... but at that point, doesn't that become transactional? I thought we are to give and have faith that even if this is my last dollar, God has placed me in this position to give because He is using me to answer their prayers, and will return that to me. I don't know if that makes sense, but I what I am trying to say is just blind faith in every decision we make. Not just for more of the luxuries we have on earth.
You don't have to pay tithes. But if you do GOD will bless you. You don't have to give your tithes to the church. To give your tithes to GOD, you can give it to anyone who believes in GOD. GOD can bless you with anything, it might be money, it might be something else.
Ya remember Mike Todd started teaching tithing to the Youth in his sofly youth ministry and when the pastors saw how he was making money from the youth he was pushed to get the same results from all the congregation.

Luke 6:35-36 is taken out of context. This scripture is concerning "charity". But the Lord says again, Luke 6:38, quote "give, and IT SHALL BE GIVEN UNTO YOU, pressed down, shaken together, and running over...". Unquote.
Where did you read charity in from? It’s clearly talking physical, hence verse 34. Again, none of that proves that our financial giving gives us MORE money. Verse 36 isn’t about money. Read verse 35. It’s talking about judgement not money

I was thinking about this the other day. Some people are only willing to give because they think "God will just give me more"... but at that point, doesn't that become transactional? I thought we are to give and have faith that even if this is my last dollar, God has placed me in this position to give because He is using me to answer their prayers, and will return that to me. I don't know if that makes sense, but I what I am trying to say is just blind faith in every decision we make. Not just for more of the luxuries we have on earth.

You don't have to pay tithes. But if you do GOD will bless you. You don't have to give your tithes to the church. To give your tithes to GOD, you can give it to anyone who believes in GOD. GOD can bless you with anything, it might be money, it might be something else.

Luke 6:35-36 is taken out of context. This scripture is concerning "charity". But the Lord says again, Luke 6:38, quote "give, and IT SHALL BE GIVEN UNTO YOU, pressed down, shaken together, and running over...". Unquote.
Where did you read charity in from? It’s clearly talking physical, hence verse 34. Again, none of that proves that our financial giving gives us MORE money. Verse 36 isn’t about money. Read verse 35. It’s talking about judgement not money

Tithing is not just an old covenant thing. All those claims to be a Christian must and should return 10% of their income and an offering . The Bible says 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: this means old and New Testament. Malachi 3:10 is still binding.

This is destructive theology. That's giving believers a,"false hope"that you'll get a return on tithing. I went to a church where the pastor and his wife would badger people at offering with multiple offerings until the goal they set has been satisfied. Talk about pressure. I literally put my whole check in an offering. I was believing for a financial miracle. I was very gullible in my early 20s (1990s).💛💛💛 We must pray that He'll know The Truth through The Holy Spirit.
