I've been growing it for years, maybe 10 years. I eat fresh leaves I prefer the seeds immature and cooked. I dry the leaves too for soups and also powder them. Its a great vitamin/ mineral supplement 👍

I have tried it as I lived in Thailand and some of my Asian friends grow it here in Australia
I put the dried leaves in my pasta sauce as a heavy garnish. And I use the leaves to make tea (I tend to eat the soaked leaves as I drink the tea)

I lived in a Filipino neighborhood in Corpus Christi, TX for years, and we ate Malunggay (Moringa) all the time. Everyone grew the trees in their yards. We would make a dish where you simmer the pods in a tomato based sauce. Then you crack open the pods, and scrape out the greenbean-like insides. Delicious! Our nonprofit is now growing moringa plants to give to families living in undeserved Houston communities. Thanks for the video!

Wow!! Thanks for sharing. I have an expensive oil for 20$ i use for skin but sometimes if I feeling lucky I’ll put a squirt in my mouth and it’s delicious. Will try the seeds!! I just planted my own seeds and excited is an understatement!!! This is better than any Hollywood movie seriously, we are so brainwashed and there’s sooooo much fun stuff out there for our health and joy. I ask so blessed!!!

Well I've had a loose tooth and during Thanksgiving it seams to have got infected.well I've been trying to clean out the infection so I didn't have to get it pulled.
Today I was in the garden and grabbed a handful of moringa leaves and was eating them. Well I just watched this video and was so amazed of the benafits of this awesome tree that I just realized, I don't have any pain anymore associated with that infection. Meaning something took place and removed that infection. Very very rapidly.its only been 4 hrs ago when I ate the leaves..

Another plant you can grow for tooth/gum pain is called the "toothache plant", Sczchuan buttons, buzz buttons etc. They are small and produce a single "flower" on top that looks nothing like a flower. The flower is the part that works for pain, just bite down on it and in a couple minutes the pain is gone.
I had a huge tree in my garden and I didn't know what it was! It was in the way of a new project idea, so I cut it down and the huge stump was hard to get out, so I left it where it was! The main trunk was left laying on the ground and the rainy season came and went here in Thailand and the stump sprouted numerous new branches and the old trunk sprouted new green branches, so I guess it was saying give me a chance, you can't do without me! When a friend of mine mentioned Moringa to me, I wanted to get some and plant! My wife told me that is what you cut down last year! The moral of this story is not to cut down trees that you don't know what benefit it may give you! Now that big stump provides me with fresh Moringa and some of the excess branches can be re-planted to grow more! Maybe it was a good thing I cut it down, it taught me how hardy the Moringa tree is and how much it wants to live and provide happiness and health! It's called Marum/Marom here in Thailand!
Moringa as you partake of it you ask it and tell it what your doing to it and why. You let it know your going to give it water or cut it. It will respect you and cure you as your respecting it and helping it grow. So I’ve been told. That’s what I do to my lil tree.

Planted my moringa seeds today and then sat down to watch your moringa video. I had never thought of tasting a seed, and it was exactly as you described; nutty and then really bitter and then very sweet. I also found myself reaching for some water to try and wash the bitter away. Thanks for sharing.

If you make sambhar (a Southern Indian gravy that you mix with rice), it's delicious. Look for recipes online.
I have 2 of these planted in my yard. Zone 9a. I love eating the leaves raw or in soup. Makes a good tea too. I think its supposed to be the most nutrient rich plant on earth but I could have heard that wrong. They will grow into very tall trees if you don't top it every few weeks. They can grow in containers too. I can't say enough about this plant/tree. It gives me energy and I love it. Thanks for sharing. 😎👍

How much energy
Hi Mike, I have grown these from seed in the Western cape, South Africa. First summer height about 1 mt high but was able to pick leaves all summer. They died off for winter, lowest temp 10° then they came to life in summer again. Have struggled a bit with our severe drought but respond to a little rain so well. I sprout the seeds in a closed container, overnight soak in water first, in their shells, takes 6 days to germinate, then plant out the little sprouts at 2 to 3 weeks. Thank you for a great video.

Wow, so in Africa it gets to 10 degrees? and you still have moringa ?? wow this encourages me......it gets down to the 20's here occasionally in the winter, so perhaps I can grow them........

My Moringa was destroyed by Hurricane Ian, in SW Fl. It was taller than my house, I saved drumsticks to plant later. They grow very tall unless you keep them trimmed down. I harvested leaves and grind the leaves in a coffee grinder and put the powder in capsules.
I'm sad. The hard freeze took mine. Going to have to start again.
I grew up in Malaysia with these trees in the backyard. As an Indian, we make lentil curry with it. super delicious to eat with rice or quinoa.
Moringa is called “malunggay” in Filipino. It is a very well-known type of vegetable especially in Asia. The leaves are extensively used in soups like chicken tinola. You can actually add it also in any porridge recipes too. Some people use the leaves to heal wounds as first aid by simply crushing the leaves until green juice comes out and put it on top of the wound as disinfectant. This leafy plant is also antioxidant packed and used as supplements too. Hope these helps.

Keep on Growin' with Mike VanDuzee Try searching for malunggay recipes, you’ll be surprised that there’s a lot that you can do with it. By the way, this plant can grow as thick as 1 foot (the main trunk), so better transplant it to the ground and give it a 3-5 feet space from other plants if you’re planning to grow it out to a tree. Happy that you can grow it in florida, i’ll try my luck here in texas.

That's pretty interesting. I take my Moringa powder with an electrolyte powder. When I mix the two it's much sweeter. I've always wondered why that is so, when both alone are not very sweet at all. So the moringa powder is enhancing the sweetness of the otherwise pretty neutral electrolyte powder. Thank you for sharing.
Last year I looked on line but couldn't find ONE site that sold moringa seeds. This year found the seeds on line immediately upon looking. Moringa is catching on! Looking SO forward to growing my very own moringa trees.

We just went down to Florida and bought a Moringa plant 15 inches tall from a Nursery. The last one they had. They can’t keep them, very popular.
@fancythat5136 My husband and I winter in Florida and I brought back a morninga tree with us. I'm keeping it in a five gallon bucket so I can transport it back and forth from Michigan to Florida every winter until it's too big then ill plant it in Florida and start a new one.❤️

I have been drinking morninga tea for several years. Tried growing it in doors, but each time it got to about 6-8" it died. It was very fast growing though. Am looking forward to your technique. Did you know that some scientist/Biblical scholars think it was a moringa stick that Moses through into the "bitter waters?". Thanks for the teaching

I did that same thing, bringing it into the kitchen by the window in the winter BUT I'd given one of my babies to a friend and her's never died - she brought it into the garage - so I did that this year on the first frost, put a plastic bag over the leaves on the really cold nights, and a blanket around the bottom of the pot - only watered it on warm days in the middle of the day - she's done great! Need to know when to prune it and put it back outside.
Great for cuts. When we were young when we have cuts and scrapes we would mash it until we get the juice from it and rub it into out cuts. We also use it as our vegetables-we cook it with our traditional soups.

I live in Ventura County,….. Santa Paula,California…. There’s a huge tree about a mile from my house…… I’m struggling with mine….I’ve tried many times. I got some seeds started from Maui. So far it’s about 10”……. Just sharing!
In the Philippines, most of those who live in the provinces, we have this plant in our backyards😅 we called it Malunggay ❤
It's been proven to direct plant moringa seeds in ground during the beginning of spring after frost season it grows fast and loves the heat it's a amazing plant you can't go wrong growing it even if you're up north with a greenhouse you can trim it or it will shut up 30'ft high👍✌️

I have high calcium in water.. I’m actually planning to visit Jacksonville n April. I’m looking to relocate for the winter months and grow an annual crop for all year as one thing to accomplish with my time there!
Cool, I would love to try a moringa shake! Jacksonville is nice for year round growing. A few years we may get a hard freeze but mostly mild winters. Summer heat can be challenging.

@@douglascunningham6319 you never really know how much a med is working til you stop taking. I ran out and couldnt find it local. Oh man, i paid for it for sure. They put me on script meloxicam. It raised my blood pressure and inflammation but my pain level was down. Im not willing to take this med forever. Ordering more of the Moringa and watching blood pressure.

Most backyards in the Philippines would have moringa, we put in some vegetable stir fries, soups, lentils. Very nutritious!

The younger drumsticks are more tender once cooked but the larger ones are rather tough so once they've cooked the seeds can be sucked out of them and eaten and are very tasty.

I found soaking the seeds, as you would beans or nasturtium, made for quicker germination.

I have 8 little seedlings they are growing amazing, in a milk carton, I have difficulty sprouting indoors, I live in Illinois, but I put the seed outside in the 80 and 90 degrees and they sprout fast. They are beautiful trees.

What grocery store did you find those in? I have been using the powder. It truly has helped me health wise I many was. Inflammation is an issue I was having. I had hurt my thumbs somehow, my right hand was worse and my thumb was swelling and with pain so severe I couldn't put any kind of pressure on it. I couldn't open even the simplest things, I started taking moringa and the swelling went away. IF I happen to miss a day I can tell it. The all over body pain returns and my thumbs are useless! I am amazed at how much Moringa truly does help.

I have moringga plant in my yard,we eat the leaves n the fruit but we dont eat the seeds, yah we love to eat them in a chicken soup for the leaves n the fruit is my fav.,I saute them with tomatoes only n its so tasty.
With all the goodness in those leaves & stems, just imagine what it can do for your compost or your garden in general.

Its called the tree of life. Every part can be used either as medicine, herb, etc. The seed pod is long. Its called a drumstick. You can do seed collection or use the whole pod to cook curry. Leaves can be used as stir-fry.

I grew up in Malaysia where we plant this easily but not from the seed. We just take a few small branches and poke it into the ground and it’ll just grow. That’s the other way.
The other thing, u take the leaves (don’t mash or ground them) mix them with eggs and fry. They taste great in omelettes.

We cook the leaves with onions, chayote, ginger, and chicken. Filipinos call it “tinola.” :)
Moringa seed are, like chile del monte pepers they sprout only when day and night are very hot.
I have heard of Moringa before Mike. Seems like a very healthy plant supplement. Wonder how the plant would grow in cold climates or as a container plant? -Bob...
It would need to be brought inside once frost is in the forecast, as it will die off in freezing Temps. David the Good's Survival Gardener TH-cam channel has some good ideas for pruning & overwintering.
One doctor that studied this plant referred to it as almost perfect nutrition.

For the seed I never got the sweet all it was very strong bitter. So I'm going to try to grow Moringa for the leaves.
I ordered the seeds about 10 years ago from India. By the time they arrived, it was too late in the year to plant. Last month I saw a video about them, pulled out my old seeds and none germinated. So I bought seeds from Amazon. I placed them on a damp paper towel in a cookie sheet and covered with another paper towel and cling wrap. This went in my warm closet. They sprouted! I have 146 in Dixie cups with the rest sprouting. Now I wonder what to do next. The tallest are already about 6" tall.

I usuallybuy 00 and 000 size gelatin capsules and fill them. Even when wearing rubber gloves;it’s real messy.
It’s worth it to me to check that the powder is fresh looking!

I started it last year using the seeds. I did have to bring it in, it gets cold here, and that's when I cut the tops off and it's branching out and coming back nicely! I don't know much about growing them, or fertilizing them. Honestly I haven't done much to it all winter other than give it some water. So far so good, thank you for posting😊👍 I'm always learning something!!

Can you give me idea of watering for moring 2-3 years( already giving fruits) trees? At present trees have flowers & also very thin fruit sticks.
So if I grow 5 seedlings get big, how much yard do you need for 5 huge trees? How far apart do you plant them?
Will you be showing the long pod & how to save seed to bless someone to grow their own. Since its perenial growing 1 or 2 trees will give you shade, the leaves can be used for stir fry, pod can be used for curry. It's caledl the tree of life. In poor country this will keep them alive.

Can moringa grow in pot?
If branches are thick can it be used to graft other fruit, plant, crop, flower, etc.
I posted about 2 months ago about growing moringa.....you were so kind to answer my questions.........I did buy the seeds and have planted 4 times........I still have not gotten one plant.......I want to grow moringa very, very bad.......I tried soaking some, tried spraying the seeds all wrapped up in paper towels......spraying with seed activator and they molded.......I looked at a video giving me the instructions............I am looking at your video here on my tv. now still hoping to grow moringa.....I live in zone 8 Waynesboro, GA....30830------- ideas? wondering what I can try next please ?????
Did you get them from a seed company or the grocery store? Sometimes the ones at the grocery store won't germinate. Also, up in GA you will probably need to grow in a pot, the Winter will probably kill any plants you grow.
I have 1 moringa tree on the farm it's tall with white flowers for the seed, have seed to plant at home.

You would need a fairly large pot and prune it way back. It will grow back in the Spring.
Does the tree of Moringa need much sunlight ? I had to plant them in my garden because we don't have this plant in my country that much and planted some seeds but I'm worried that they will not grow more or may die!!!!

I don't know. This is my first attempt. I had a cutting in hydro and it was dping good. We had one cold day and it has been struggling.

Not really a fan, I would rather eat the leaves. It was surprising though.

Could be. Mine are starting to thin out, just a few top leaves left. No freezing temps either. I am going to prune them in about a week or so.
I'm in north central FL but my moringa is thin and not leafy as it should be. I transplanted it to the ground. Idk why is not really giving leaves. It's been months tho. 😪

You can try. Sometimes it's hit and miss.

No, it is drought resistant, doesn't like constant water.
My moringa started falling over and will not stand upright without a stick. Do you have any advice?
I staked all of mine. After a while they stood on their own.
@@KeepOnGrowin got it thanks. I also just put mine outside for the first time hoping that will help. It's been an indoor plant up until now. Its about a foot high now with LOTS of leaves.
