Bought one recently as a backup. Does the job is pretty much what I can say. I've never used a Scout before though, and good god, I've never used such comfortable SNES controller. I'd take a crisp brand new oem over it but that aside, man...what a good controller. The colors on the SNES side are so over-saturated though, and it using a simple composite-to-HDMI converter is definitely revealed as no secret. Not really a fair fight though as what it's up against in my home is the real thing with a SCART cable+RetroTink 5x. For what it is though, it's sufficient enough.
Well while is decent enough there is one problem that I notice right away is the level 2 of Contra 3 I notice the color plate of the road is wrong it supposed to be grey not blue and white if you notice at 15:39 and of course it's huge bummer that it can't play battletoads properly. Overall is decent for those who wants to play nes and snes at the same in a low budget.
Most of these NOAC HD clones are good starter consoles and are also good for a backup console at a good price. I have pretty much moved on to FPGA consoles and original hardware via component through RetroTINK 2X.
I'm working on another video right now over my lunch at work, and that's actually something I mention in there too. Original equipment rocks, but if you are just having fun and playing games, in the end, THAT is what it is all about.
Did the Retron 2HD work with a regular zapper (not the one from Hyperkin)? of course I mean the AV output on a CRT TV. I know the Retron 3 HD doesn't work, so I don't know if I can buy this or each console separately
I compared NES games on Retron 1 HD with NES games on Retron 2HD and it turns out that on Retron2HD the animation pulses. This can be seen in the sideways movement of the screen. The color palette on the RETRON 2HD in recent releases of this console is improved, but this animation unfortunately pulses... This discouraged me. I checked it in the PAL setting.
nice review! i'm thinking about getting one of these as backup console. i have just one question about the ntsc / pal switch. does it just "allow" the games from different regions to play? or is it really a speed change between 60hz (ntsc) and 50hz(pal)? that would be great! cheers
For clones SoC or any under $100 for nes and snes I’m leaning towards the Retron 2 HD being the best option quality sound and compatibility wise would thought agree or do you think there is a better more authentic one under $100?
I really appreciate your reviews. It is very confusing how many choices are out there. It seems like the best is the Analogue Super NT, but, if that is sold out, not sure what is the best alternative, any recommendations?

So I got the classiq 2 HD, and I noticed on the SNES, in 4:3, there is what I can best describe as small horizontal black bars "flickering" for a fraction of a second on the right side of the screen. It doesent matter what game I put it, its always the same.
