Well I guess you got a free alignment claiming your truck was scratched. It was clearly there just after your son popped the bubble. You owe Firestone an apology! Kind of low
I'm so with you on working on my own stuff. Been burnt so many times by shop's and dealerships. I don't mind paying for great work by professionals but I'll just do it myself now on. Great Job on the trail boss plus it satisfying knowing you did it yourself! 😎👍
I absolutely understand the frustration with taking vehicles to shops, especially chain shops! Nothing makes me angrier than getting my vehicles back worse than it went in! Along with the dirt and grime on door handles and the steering wheel.
I was dying when the balloon popped.🤣 He was talking about the truck then you hear a loud pop in the background. Then just casually turn around and the look on his face was priceless. 🤣🤣🤣
I stopped going to Firestone shops a LONG time ago for similar reasons. They just either don't care or don't know what they are doing. I only take my truck to my local GMC service department when I can't do something myself. They've always been fantastic.
A couple things I have to totally agree with you on.. 1st is you are 100% correct when you called that loaded strut a time bomb 😄 second it the way they did on returning your tuck is unacceptable.. and if you can do work on your truck without so much as a scratch... and they have the nerve to call themselves PROFESSIONALS, IF ONE OF MY GUYS WOULD EVER DO THAT, he'll be sweeping floors for the ext three months at floor sweepers pay. But more importantly let us know about the handling of the truck after you've finished.. as i have the same trunk.
Just got the same lift put on my 2020 Trail Boss! Feels great. Also followed your lead and slapped on the Pulsar, Intake, and AFE muff delete! It's like having a new truck.
So just to confirm, you only need to put the lift in the front and not the back? I’m a bit confused.. so it’ll still be even if you don’t put the lift in the back?
HUGE fan of your videos. My 2021 trailboss Thanks you. Not a lot of youtubers go into great hands on detail for this truck. Keep up the good work! - Angleton Tx
Love the video and channel - that service interaction had me mad and it's not even my truck. Ridiculous! I really appreciate you showing the steps of installing the kit...way more of a job than I'm comfortable with, but at the same time I do feel like I could do it after watching the video...cheers!
I had the same experience at a Belle Tire. Got a front end alignment after new control arm bushings. After looking over the truck it was covered in greasey hand prints on my fenders and door. And someones oily boot was on my tan carpet. Once I got it home I noticed the alignment moved to positive chamber. So the diy'er in me puts a 3/8's ratchet on the upper control arm bolt and it was lose just hand tight! So I had to take it back again and then go over all their work with a fine tooth comb finding out they didn't even torque the nuts to proper 140ftlbs. This is the exact reason why I do all the work myself, this is the rare time I have too pay someone to use their machine.
I laughed way to hard when the balloon your son was inflating popped. Reminded me of myself when I was a kid. Did the same thing and my Dad told me the exact same thing, didn't listen and got hit with the truth. 🤣
Got my 2021 Silverado RST Z71 2 months ago, now has 2300 miles and already got my first CEL. Dealership hasn’t been able to officially diagnose it yet due to staff shortages but got my onstar notification saying there was a problem with engine/transmission. 2 days later and the CEL is off and the truck runs normal compared to a jolting feeling before, while decelerating to a stop. So confused but hopefully I can get a diagnosis tomorrow at my follow up appointment.
I’ll never take any of my vehicles to another Firestone for as long as I live. Took my car to them years ago to have a nail in my tire removed and my tire repaired. I later discovered that they slammed my trunk (which had an electric housing) and shattered the mechanism also breaking the motor that latched the trunk. They denied it, and refused to replace/repair. Funny thing is that they had absolutely zero reason to be in my trunk in the first place. Garbage shops with garbage mechanics.
I couldn't agree with you more about Firestone. I haven't had any issues with Discount Tire but I usually just take my car truck in there for the free stuff like rotations.
Hey great job. I like the source of info on TH-cam. If I May offer a tip : when removing the front cv Axl on anything and the wheel spins while trying to remove the nut- if no one can press the brake holding it in place, you can put a screwdriver through the view space on the caliper into the vents on the brake disk holding everything in place so you can remove the axl nut.
Farmer here. Instead of fire one thing I’ve found that works incredibly well is marvel mystery oil. It’s a fuel treatment solution that’s great for your engine, but my goodness put it on anything stuck no matter how tight or rusted that shit will come right off. It’s better than fire and wd40
Yeah, ive noticed that these shops have no idea what they're doing. They say they do but, they are just kids who don't care about you or your vehicles. I have learned my lesson with Tires Plus and Jiffy Lube.
Oh it's not just our Firestone then. My husband had a brand new engine installed under recall when he had 180K miles and an oil leak on his old engine. First oil change in the new engine, Firestone forgot to put the new oil in. Then tried to not pay to have it towed to a dealer and have them take apart the engine to ensure there was no damage, while he used a loaner. PS, thank you for the comment about women in trucks! I'm so sick of the "that's a big truck for a little lady like you" comments. I may be little but I do big things with that truck!
Glad you put a video out on this. My web browser history as my “witness” I have been debating the RL SST 4” lift for a few weeks now as well as the RC 4” (6”) TB lift. Only think stopping me is losing the Auto 4WD on the RL SST. I should watch your video and stop replying. 😊👍
I remember when my camera man was like this LOL. He is now 15..... I can't believe those guys did you that way! I have very few shops that I will take my stuff to and for my wheels, tires, and alignment I go to a little shop up here that also works on very high end wheels and tires off of lambo's etc so I know they do it right.
Thanks for this man! I have a ‘21 trail boss I’ve been wanting to lift with this exact kit, been watching all of the videos on yours for some inspiration, appreciate it
Love the video man!!! I hate when people can screw up something that you take pride in. Got my 35s to fit on my Silverado. Took out the front mudflap bracket and tied back the felt liner. Clean look and no rubbing
I’m a lot like you on wanting my own shop with a tire machine balancer and alignment system. I really don’t like other people touching my truck. Especially Firestone or any of the other franchise shops
Good morning, You seem to be one of the most thorough people on here and don’t seem to be here just for a buck you take pride in everything I’ve seen you do. You did the ready lift 2” front only which only made sense, I’ve done a ton of research on this lift and it’s literally a coin toss everyone loves the way it looks it does the truck complete justice. But, there’s so many negative comments in forums about CV joints ball joints and tie Rod issues. Can you please let me know your thoughts on these issues and how’s your front end holding up? I greatly appreciate your honest opinion!
I've heard the samething on Trail boss form! Curious to know? I also talked to a shop here in Southern California called Shock Surplus and they said the same thing about this SST lift kit. They told me that this lift has to much angle an over time CV joints pops of the axel and causes problems. More likely to happen under more extreme conditions when you need your truck working the best.
You scratched the bumper while removing the axle nut at 12:40. You can even hear the contact. I'm not hating and I feel the same way about having work done, just have to put the blame where it belongs.
I noticed your tires are cupping? I have a 2021 LT trailboss and have same issues. I’ve rotated them every imaginable way possible other than flipping the tires on the rim. Any fixes for that? Also love the channel and have done a lot of things to my truck that you have, mostly because of you. My Next move is a leveling kit! That’s why I’m watching this video for the 5th time. 😂 Love the channel and can’t wait to see the pre-runner finished up and that shop built!
i just found your channel today. and bro i love your videos. you are doing to your truck what i want to do to my 21 silverado. just that its not a trail boss or 4x4. but still want to do those upgrades. i found your channel by looking up light bar ideas and you were the first that came up. ive already watched 5 of your videos. they have been the best so far. very detailed. keep it up man. new subscriber here.
I just saw where your storing your QuickJacks, very nice. I just had my garage floor professionally coated and it's amazing, I have some hard plastic pieces for the bottom of my Quick Jacks so they slide really easy and don't scratch the floor. Take care bud.
Love your videos bro! Did you have any issues getting the plastic wiring harness retainer above the driver side strut to go back into place? Just had my ready lift sst installed and notice the wiring harness just resting on top of the strut not attached to anything.
Enjoy your videos, been watching for a while now. As someone with a regular job (just started my own detailing business) and am considering to start up a TH-cam channel on the side - it got me curious to what your day job is. Not to sounds creepy but I stumbled across your LinkedIn account and actually used to work for the same company as an RSR! Worked as a summer student, was offered to transition to DSL when I graduate my business degree but turned it down for the detailing gig.
Right on brother. Spent a lot of time on a bulk 24 route, and just been working my way up through the system. It's very demanding. Most of my editing and YT work happens late at night and early AMs. If you have your own detailing business, there is your platform! I'd say go for it. Just have to start and do your best to stay consistent. Content will be rough at first, but you start finding your "way" of making the content your own as you go.
Just curious. I am considering this lift. What do you think of the CV Angles after the lift? Super curious. And ready lift suggest not using 4 wheel drive auto mode? Any comment?
I think it's auto 4 Hi you're not allowed to use. Just because it causes more vibration. You can use 4 HI when needed just not all the time. Is what I was told.
Bro its my dream to one day build my own shop and have my own equipment and I work on my own stuff for the same reason I love your content bro keep it up man
My man said it can handle up to a 6.0l diesel that means it basically useless for diesels today maybe the 5.9 cummins but 6.0 powerstokes have much bigger problem then dead batteries
I have a question??? The tailboss comes with a factory lift right. Ready lift sells a 2"kit with a UCA. Rough country sells a 4"kit without a UCA. Is the UCA needed or what? If I add that to the rough country kit will it be 6". I'm confused.
The TB comes with a 2 in front lift on it from factory. With about 1.5 rake, meaning back sits higher. So this kit lifts to front and back 2 inches. Meaning if you install both back will still sit 2 inches higher. If you leave the back alone and only do the front. This will be more or less a leveling kit with extra parts, lol. But there has been some discussion on TB forums recently with people saying this lift is causing the CV joint to snap off the axel and other issues. So I'd do some more research and call manufacturers and talk to the technical support guys.
it buffed off so were good there. Wheels are pretty torn up from the alignment sensors though... just hate when people don't care about other people's property.
I have exactly the same truck! Too bad U don’t offer services; I live in Michigan and would travel to Texas and pay U to install this lift. I simply don’t have the tools or experience.
I’ve had the same issues with Firestone trying to get my silverado aligned after 6 BDS inch lift. They told me with lifted trucks it’s to difficult for there rack 🙄
I have the same lift on my 2020 Silverado and my biggest problem last week and a half is my axle boots keep blowing. Replaced the axle and next day on the way to work it busted again.
Hi watch a lot of your videos and enjoy the upgrades, But I noticed around 11:40 time on the video no scratch to the bumper then around 12:46 you started using the pry bar. Then right around about the time the Ballon popped 13:10 you have the scratch on the bumper. I Guess you didn't notice you scratched your own bumper:(
Hey brother I don't know how well the fitment of the new wheels to be but I hope you don't haft to do any triming cause when you turn your truck while you drive they may scuff, so I guess be a lil mindful of that cause I had to trim my 06 Duramax I had a 4inch Lift with 37x10.5x20 tires on it but that truck is long gone though for about 3yrs now.
Came for the lift, finished the video deciding I'm going to get married. Thanks for the inspiration.

If you look @ 13:10 BEFORE you installed the lift and took it to Firestone, the fender scratch is plain as day.
Did the same with my 19 TB and left the blocks for the rear off. Leveled the truck.

Sorry to hear that! I knew someone that has a similar issue and they took it it to get "reprogrammed" ... whatever fix that is.
On a Trail Boss the rear sits 1 and a half inches higher in the rear so a 2 inch lift in the front would make it nose high by a half inch

Thrust angle can be checked on a rear solid axle. But not really necessary if you didn’t lift the rear.
Discount Tire is my go to, way better than Firestone IMO

Nope. I was curious about that also. Factory wheel and tire clear the UCA by about an inch.
Factory fits just fine without spacers 👍🏽

it buffed off so were good there. Wheels are pretty torn up from the alignment sensors though... just hate when people don't care about other people's property.
I have exactly the same truck! Too bad U don’t offer services; I live in Michigan and would travel to Texas and pay U to install this lift. I simply don’t have the tools or experience.
Adding the readylift kit how’s the ride quality? Is it stiff? Better? Thinking about getting a lift kit for my truck but I have a concerns..
Keep up the videos I love this channel 👍🏽 trail boss looks so good
I’ve had the same issues with Firestone trying to get my silverado aligned after 6 BDS inch lift. They told me with lifted trucks it’s to difficult for there rack 🙄
Howzit Hawaiian. There are 0 issues with the stockies right? Doing my build in pieces so just wanna make sure i dont need spacers or something
Stock wheel and tires fit just fine without any spacers.
Damn those wheels are dope!
Firestone in my town is complete garbage I had a customer go there and they messed up a brand new wheel so bad it wasn’t fixable!!
I have the same lift on my 2020 Silverado and my biggest problem last week and a half is my axle boots keep blowing. Replaced the axle and next day on the way to work it busted again.
Good job 👍🏿 you are a great guy 🙏 a love your work
I have a ready lift on my 2021 Silverado and it's bad ass. 😂
What inch lift did you go with? I have a2021 Chevrolet Silverado Custom 1500. I was looking at the 3" readylift.
Been waiting for this video.
Hi watch a lot of your videos and enjoy the upgrades,
But I noticed around 11:40 time on the video no scratch to the bumper then around 12:46 you started using the pry bar.
I'm pretty sure i'm going to have to trim a bit... gonna find out soon.
