Honestly those frames have undergone some special heat treatment before they were painted. If you weld after this, it removes the strength, that the heat treatment provided. Technically you should do exactly that somewhere, to gain that strength back.. 😕 otherwise those welds won't last..

I wouldn't trust the cut cranks. I'd rather replace the entire spider on the shaft, then the chain line would also fit. Otherwise, I think your project is great. Would you like to build me a rear triangle too :)

Thank you for you comment! In fact in the next part, where I am doing the testing, I'll replace the cranks. You should ask Vilkkis Weldings would he do the job for you, but I guess it would be too expensive if you are not a local. You had to send the whole bike here. But if you find a local professional, I am sure that this video would help him/her to get the job done.

Miranda has same kind of "cutted" ISIS fat cranks on their lineup which were made for Bosch 2gen big offset small fat sprockets. There is not quite so much material left but how ever they have worked quite well. These cranks are named as O20, for example Miranda Delta 55Q:21 O20, where O20 means offset 20mm. Basic 55Q:21 cranks has a 16mm of bore lenght so with O20 version they have machined 4mm of material off from original cranks.

Yeah. In the upcoming part 3 i’ll switch to Miranda Delta 55Q29,6 160 mm cranks. I just rode today second longer test ride with those cranks.
