Hello. Yes. If you look closely at the con rod you will see a small oil hole just above the big end ( bottom). This faces toward the front of the engine and will feed oil to the big end bearing as it is turning. The force of the fuel/ oil mixture being sucked in through the carb pushes it into the hole and the bearing. Hope that helps.
Hi Simon. Rob from Wiltshire here . Watching you put this engine together , I have a question . Is there a pin or ball in the end of the crank that fits to the drive , as I have an engine that has a tiny bit of hex key in the starter end, of the crank. Please could you show what is in the end as I don't see what is in your end of the crank that would drive the pull starter as it turns the crank
Hi Simon, these videos are great, really detailed, I was just wondering if you are going to do a video on a thunder tiger pro 12 strip and rebuild, could you please cover the strip and clean of the carb, I have a pro12 from a ts4n, the engine was seized, I have managed to free and clean it all, but the barrel in the carb is stuck solid and the plastic throttle arm just slides, do you have any tricks or tips on how to free it off.
Hi Andy. I will try and do a Pro 12 when I get one in. However for now I would suggest soaking your carb in nitro fuel overnight. The resin the stiffen is because it has been left for a while with excess fuel which has evaporated and left the goo. The best thing for dissolving this is nitro fuel ( don’t try detergent-it doesn’t work). Hope that helps
hi simon i checked the listing and its the wrong one for my engine my engine is the thunder tiger pro 12 older type with the 10mm hex and the bolt holes 30mm apart if that helps any help would be much appreciated thanks
IAN STRACHAN Hi Ian. I did strip and rebuild the engine but I cannot remember if I video’ed it. However I have a pro .12 engine here that needs a rwbuold so I will do a separate video complete. May not be for a week or so though. Cheers
Hi do you know the preset settings of the hsn and lsn as I have built a thunder tiger ts4n from a magazine build had it running perfect for 2 years but its lay in the cupboard for a while and cant get it to start I have new fuel and got a new glow plug that is all working fine. I don't have any instructions with the car thanks . It was running perfect the last time I used it.
Hi Chris. Can you send an email to me at the email address on my website rcscrapyard.com (not .net) and I will forward you a copy of my booklet on timing and maintaining nitro engines. It should get you going. Cheers
