Yes - I put the car on EBay and it now has a new owner. If you would like me to feature any other males or models of car just let me know. Thanks to all for watching.
This was video was done several years ago. And I can’t remember which set I used. It would have been one I had second hand. The Thunder Tiger would have originally been shipped with a Jaguar handset made by Ace RC (a division of thunder tiger) but you can use any two channel radio set including modern 2.4ghz systems which will reduce servo jitter.
Yes, I use easy start on any engine that has just been rebuilt or not used for a while. It certainly starts difficult engines easily. You only need a quick squirt though ( not too much!)
Hello, I've just found myself a TS4N Pro V2 with the Mini body that's in amazingly good condition, apart from some corrosion on the chassis from the previous owner leaving AA batteries in the harness. There isn't a single scratch on the underside of the chassis. The previous owner told me that he had it running twice before being unable to start it & putting it in his shed years ago & forgetting about it. I've flushed ďcleaned the fuel system & replaced the (dead) glow plug so I'm in no doubt it's going to run fine. (If not I've got two spare Force 18 engines) 😉 Okay, enough gloating.. 😂 😂 I've got a question to ask you... How freely should I be able to push the car on a flat surface with all three belts on but without the engine fitted.? I'm unfamiliar with belt driven RC chassis & although smooth, there's more resistance than I'd find acceptable on a shaft driven chassis. I've added a small drop of lubricant to the bearings but to be honest I doubt they're seized in any way. There's nothing rubbing or catching & the brakes are free. Is this just normal for a belt driven chassis.? It does seem to me that it will drive okay.. Thank you for this series, I found it extremely useful.!! Subbed & liked & best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️
Hello. Sounds like you have a good car there. To answer your question you should be able to push it with a little resistance, but not too much. It sounds like the belts may be too tight. These can be adjusted by changing the position of the cam adjusters which are located on the side of the differentials both front and back. It’s not an easy job and will take some time but it’s definitely worth doing. Just to make sure that the cam adjusters are equal both sides of the deaf to keep the belt running straight. Hope that helps.
@@tompledger7859Thanks for that, I literally just found that about the cams in the PDF manual... Snazzy.! 👍 👍 I've got the car fully reassembled & I believe it's all okay. The servo's needed to be replaced of course.. 😉 😉 I've also fitted a modern radio reciever & a 2S lipo to run it. It's pretty much as it was when it first came out the box 20? years ago. I've finally found one of those Ebay gems I see people on TH-cam bragging about.! 😉 😂 😂 The belts are in perfect condition & have a little play in them. I didn't realise that the car wasn't fully ballraced so that explains the slight resistance. (I have most of the bearings I think but I'm keen to run it so that's a job for another day) If I push the car & let go it freewheels for a few feet. I do have another question for you though.. Shall I leave the belt pulleys on bushings or swap them for bearings too.? I imagine bearings would be better but this is my first belt driven chassis. Thank you.. I have this exact car that I just picked up from my mums have had it for about 15 years where it has sat and is possibly in a worse state than this was do you have any tip for someone trying to rebuild this where to get parts ect thanks
Hi Ben, I would recommend watching this TS4N rebuild series for tips and we have lots of parts for the car that we are currently selling on eBay! Just look for the seller ID: RCscrapyard ! Hope this helps!
@@RCScrapyard okay perfect thanks for response I am missing the front wheel drive belt (the small one on the side with the tensioner) and the battery holder has snapped the red and black cable would toyo suggest just buying a new one
I just found a thunder tiger ts4n at my friends house new in box since 2001 no nitro has ever been in the engine would it run without stripping and rebuilding the engine ?
Assuming it has been stored in dry conditions then it should be fine as the engines are internally pre coated in a special after run oil prior to shipping. Best thing to do is try it! Just to say, those cars are very sought after and if you decided to sell it as brand new and never used, and with its original box you would probably get close to, or more than the original retail price for it.
@@Noah.bonte909 yes from me. I am a now then only company who still manufactures these belts. The link is here. rcscrapyard.com/ts4n-parts/ts4n-set-of-three-belts-20702384
I've recent dug out my TS-4N and got it up and running again. Currently running 20% nitro but having issues with Vapor Lock/fuel boiling in the carby causing it to cut out after running through about 1/4 tank until it's left to cool... Any idea on how to stop this? Engine seems to be running ok & mixtures good (light stream of smoke at full tilt). But the top does get very very hot a still. Also, what glow plug would you recommend?
Hello. I think this is down to the plug you are using. I would go for a general all rounder like a No4. That should help the engine run cooler. Also it can’t do any harm to riches the mixture a bit by turning the HSN out by 1/2 turn.
Incidentally if you ever need any TS4N drive belts I. Is stick all three of them. They are pretty much unavailable everywhere else but I have secured a deal with a company who manufactures them to the original Thunder Tiger spec. They are all on Rcscrapyard.com
Simon Pledger - MythicalRC thanks I'll check it out... With the plug, when you say No.4 is that different across brands? Current using OS A3/No.6 which is already a hot plug, would have though if anything stepping down to a cooler plug may help? Do you know what shocks would fit the TS-4N? One of mine is a little iffy after a crash & the fact they're 15+ yrs old could probably do with replacement anyway hah. Sorry for lots of Q's... But any recommendations for cleaning up the back end of the car without pulling it all apart. Seems the exhaust is leaking so it's quite gunky on that rear quarter.
NoDowt hello. Firstly the plugs I use are the HSP plugs where No3 is hotter than No4. I think a No 4 would help you run cooler. Secondly I sell the shocks for the TS4N. Check out eBay item number 283935831399 which should do the job. Alternatively do an eBay search on the list length you need and if I have any they will come up for you. Lastly there is no easy way to clean up the back end. Being nitro fuel standard detergent won’t touch it and you wouldn’t want to get it in the bearings or the diff. Once clean thorough you can make sure the exhaust gasket is good. It’s usually that which causes all the muck to stick to the engine and chassis. Cheers
Hello. These belts have been discontinued for several years and we very difficult to get hold of. However I believe I am the only person on eBay to have them remanufactured to the original specifications. The ebay item number is 283959792896 let me know if you cannot find it.
