    My 9mm Riptide has never failed to cycle a cartridge. Runs like a clock. All steel construction gives very low recoil impulse, fun to shoot. One of my favorite 1911's

    I'm here because I just received one of these fusion 1911 9mms as a gift. Having a bit of trouble identifying the model though (not a gun expert, haven't owned one in over a decade). As it is coming from a gentleman who used to be a gun dealer, I'm thinking that it might be one of your custom guns. All I have is the serial number, any advice on identification would be great.
    All that aside, I already love it. It is as butter smooth as anything I have ever shot, polished stainless upper, brushed stainless lower, really nice stippling on the front and rear of the grip, and I don't know what kind of wood the scales are made out of, but they are made of some kind of dark red wood and pretty as hell.

    My introduction to 9mm 1911's was via a Tisas M1911-A1 in that caliber that ran flawlessly after the usual 1911 break in of 300+ rounds and even with the tiny G.I. sights it was easy to keep nice tight groups....
    Finally tired of the sights & replaced it with a Springfield Ronin Commander in 9mm that makes a perfect concealed carry pistol....👍👍

    I had all kinds of reliability issues with my Ruger SR1911 in 9mm using 115 and 124 grain hollow points. But it runs perfectly with 135 grain hollow points and 147 grain FMJ flat points. 🤔
    UPDATE > If a gun is ammo finicky, it's GONE! I don't have the time, patience, or money to play that game. I went back to ugly, old, reliable GLOCK!!! At least it goes bang every time I pull the trigger. 🤷 😌

    Yeah, my 9mm 1911 feeds flawlessly, but my 1911 38 super jammed the other day with only 8 rounds in a 9 round magazine. It was ball ammo. I think the ejector is too long. I checked the extractor tension and it was about perfect. I'm over believing that the super is more reliable than the 9mm. formerly had believed that because the action length is correct for the super.

    • @fusionfirearms

      @@fusionfirearms I think these extra long ejectors is the problem. I changed one out on my fav super govt model for a standard 9mm/38 super plain one. I had left it as was when shipped and I don't like how it crowds cartridge to where you can barely eject a loaded round. Thanks

    • @alanex5225

      @@fusionfirearms my 9mms never have a problem like this. one old super i had failed due to severe bullet setback but was fine otherwise. I like the plain old Browning feed ramp. When the cartridge clears it there's no extra feed ramp in the way to obstruct and the cartridge goes right onto the chamber.

    What is your take on the .38 Super 1911 pistol? Is it as reliable as the .45 ACP due to the almost similar bullet OAL with the .45 ACP, more propellant, and a better cartridge/extractor claw engagment, because of a larger rim compared to the 9mm?

    • @fusionfirearms
      @fusionfirearms  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      38 Super can run just as well as the 45 acp. Does the rim cartridge help> Some, but as long as it is tuned correctly, the 38 Will Run like a singer sewing machine. I like the 38 Super, it has less recoil, the ammo is generally easy to get and it has enough power to do the job for self defense or many hunting applications.

    • @rexhinlo3398
      @rexhinlo3398 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@fusionfirearms too bad, the recent generation didn't really warm to the .38 Super and looked for other "exotic" ammo. If I were to choose between 9mm and .38 Super, it would be .38 Super all the way. Of course, the .45 ACP is the mainstay of the 1911 platform. Really good and informative reviews.
