Fcuking mesmerizing. I want to book a ticket to where his head was during that guitar riff. I loved watching this. I felt the passion and viceral enjoyment of his voice & immersion. Good song made even better with such a display 🎸🎶🎤🔊
Your mesmerizing comment kinda resonates with me.I saw him Mothers Day with the Winery Dogs - absolutely amazing show.During one particular solo , he literally had the crowd totally mesmerized , utter silence … He's like WTF make some noise?! Crowd cheers for a bit and is back to jaw dropping awe shortly after …. He just didn't realize he had their undivided attention cause they were totally mesmerized ….
In the middle there i heard some absolutely fine moments in which he could have included Frampton's "Do You Feel (Like We Do)." Just a distant thought... This guy's such a great talent.
As astounding as he is with his finger style I miss him using a pick. There was more attack and edge to the tone and he was really aggresive. He is a monster either way and I understand the dynamics and directness that you get from just using fingers. He is one of my favorite singers. Man, is he great.
I couldn't agree more, the finger style is kinda cool but I much prefer the pick playing. Much heavier in sound which is my preference. Said he only switched because he was bored an uninspired so I could see him going back to it soon at least some of the time.
Dude you hit on a good subject there. U must be a very visual player(like I am). Not just the obvious that he's not using a pick lol, but the tone difference you notice. I dunno, it's a look thing too w/ me. Of course it's not all bout' how cool our heroes look holding the axe, but the killer sounds that come out of their amps, that's what we love. But for rock guitar, using the pick just kinda goes w/ the rest territory. I guess I got used to comfortable seeing King Edward(VH) being able to toss his pick in his mouth, do his fingerboard thing, play a little finger style, then switch back to a pick. But, Ed kinda plays funky anyways using his thumb/middle finger picking more so than the thumb/index style. I saw a photo years ago of Albert Collins before I knew much about being a blues master. He doesn't use a pick I later found out lol, but that pic looked like he was some cat learning the guitar the way he was strumming. And, Beck is "tha man" w/ his tone, minus using a pick. I think, tho, that the "pick tones" are the best tones we can squeeze out of a guitar. But Chris, that was just my excuse to flap a little bout' music, and styles, etc...lol I'm a fanatic no doubt. Have been playing for over 30 yrs and still like a kid when it comes to the guitar(greatest instrument in the world). Again, cool post dude. Keep rockin'!
...and btw Chris, I agree all way. Kotzen is hell on wheels. He even elevated Poison to another level w/ that one album he did w/ Brett n gang. I think he could use pick, or switch back n forth, and absolutely kill w/. Reason I like him and Paul Gilbert as the younger guns that came thru the 80's is bc they can burn, but know how to let off when need to and make music, not noise.
Mainstream is for retarded sheep.Theres something beautiful in a true artist, releasing pure art as opposed to money men calling the shots. It's like when I see moronic comments like, underrated! Not by those who know, the rest will NEVER seek this music out and that's fine. They think Adele is soul ffs.
Very cool to cover The Temptations song this way... Btw, The Temptations original version is pretty amazing on its own... But this makes me love it e sn more... What an all around amazing badass
Sean Ruiz .......Im on this mans You tube page BECAUSE hes the most talented musician on the fucking plant 😀.... I know talent and i know when a musicians in the moment with a hair flip too. Im married to an amazing guitar player... Kotzen is as Good as it gets... This performance hits my soul baby!
Michelle, do you know what the audience member is saying at 4:04? It sounds like an audience member saying "Look at that butt, right there," and Richie mouthing "F- you," perchance? Perhaps to a buddy, I hope? Lol.
To the 7 idiots that disliked this performance, go back to listening to Justin Bieber and leave the rest of us that know awesome musicianship when we see it alone. RK ROCKS!!!
Michelle, do you know if Richie likes that Steve Lyon video of "You Can't Save Me"? I know Steve did that "Larger Than Life" video, but this one seems so different, and not really true to the original meaning. Did he just authorize "You Can't Save Me" for Steve to use as a video for "Treats" magazine, as a friend, or what's the story?
Go back and look at Mr Big that IS NOT Pat Torpey yet everyone seems to think it is what can I say unless the guy had radical plastic surgery it's not him they played in Mr Big but this gig NO WAY good drummer though
89801wink I'm done I have Pat's drum video I know his face and unless he had surgery that is NOT him shame we can't ask Richie for confirmation I know they played together after Mr Big but that gig it's not him sorry
It's missing the keys And also the drummer needs to be doing more in the guitar solo that part bores me to tears and I'm pretty sure half the crowd left to get a beer and get back for the next song

Richie at his best which is always. Pat Tropey on the drums may he R.I.P. What an amazing drummer.
Richie Kotzen is the best guitarist, that I've just got to see! Hoping that he tours soon, in NJ & NYC, have to meet this amazing man!
one of the best guitarist i saw , not famous as he deserve to be ...
That’s the truth he has a voice that rivals Chris Cornell too. No one ever accused the average person of being a very good music aficionado
i wish i could have the right words to describe this performance! INSANE, on fire, the best, the master!
Phil Soussan on Bass ( Ozzy )
Pat Torpey on drums ( Mr.Big )
One of my favorite songs.
A BIG STAR ON DRUMS (RIP PAT TORPEY)
He can play as great as the rest, listen to him when he was like 18 years old. He was on FIRE!!
This is totally insane, awesome, out of this world !! no one can beat Kotzen.!!!
Holy crap that was ripping my face off burning hot smoking guitar playing!!
Fcuking mesmerizing.
I want to book a ticket to where his head was during that guitar riff.

You are right! No one else can do that. Not like him. Prince could but he is gone. Richie stands alone.
This reminds me of Badlands "Last Time" and "Do do do" Rolling Stones"
His playing is amazing great feel

In the middle there i heard some absolutely fine moments in which he could have included Frampton's "Do You Feel (Like We Do)." Just a distant thought... This guy's such a great talent.

That's Pat Torpey (Mr.Big) on drums
All the real musos want to play with Richie!
beginning at 4:03, I start hearing Frampton's "Do You Feel We Do" and fully expect to hear the talk box. Great stuff by RK and crew here.
As astounding as he is with his finger style I miss him using a pick. There was more attack and edge to the tone and he was really aggresive. He is a monster either way and I understand the dynamics and directness that you get from just using fingers.

124 people wouldn't know a great musician if it crawled out of their ass and slapped them in the face.
The hair flip is amazing, lol !
leave it to a woman to notice the least important aspect of a musical performance,.....
Sean Ruiz .......Im on this mans You tube page BECAUSE hes the most talented musician on the fucking plant 😀.... I know talent and i know when a musicians in the moment with a hair flip too. Michelle, do you know what the audience member is saying at 4:04? It sounds like an audience member saying "Look at that butt, right there," and Richie mouthing "F- you," perchance? Perhaps to a buddy, I hope? Lol.
Jimi Hendrix meets The Temptations then some
@lava rock.... Except this isnt his song. Its a cover of a Temptations song. Which was also done by The Faces.

Wow! Insane is a good word for this! :)
This performance has a nice Prince vibe to it.
He is Phil Soussan!
WOW!!! :)))
Michelle, do you know if Richie likes that Steve Lyon video of "You Can't Save Me"?

Great guitar version of Rare Earth cover song
Is that Pat Torpey on drums?
Reading the rest of the comments I realize he is! Beast! What an awesome performance!
anyone know who the bassist is? he looks familiar.
we're not worthy!
Who is on drum?
Wow. How depressing to watch this vid when I'm not heading out to his LA show .... :(
Alec John Such on bass??
No we are not.
Definitely Pat Torpey on Drums and looks like Phil Soussan on bass...
Go to Mr Big and see that is not Pat Torpey on that song geez looks nothing like him type in Pat Torpey

Phil Soussan .... with really short hair :)
It's missing the keys
And also the drummer needs to be doing more in the guitar solo that part bores me to tears and I'm pretty sure half the crowd left to get a beer and get back for the next song
Everyone is a critic. While you were getting a beer, you could keep heading straight out of the door.
This version is too fast and does not groove like the original Faces version...singing is nothing like Rod.
Rock Rewind that's ok, musicians can do their own interpretation, I enjoy both renditions...
Rock Rewind sounds more like the Temptations version....
I love you
What a great performance!!
Thanks Michele!
