This is probably Richie's best band and best performance of all the videos I have tracked down and listened to...This is even better than his Winery Dogs efforts....The audio mixing was fantastic... it really made the whole act shine... Richie, his guitar work and his singing were unbelievable!! This is the best of Richie Kotzen I have seen.

Yes, better than Winery Dogs, because the other 2 guys here, as good as they are, are there for Ritchie. This should be his main lineup, but as everything with him, it won't last. He is like a bee going from flower to flower for nectar.
@@BossDM-2I actually like how Richie is a true artist who is always taking advantage of new creative outlets as they develop. So I don't view your comment as a bad thing at all. However, some things are worth keeping alive and this power trio is definitely an example. The chemistry and flexibility between these 3 guys is off the charts - they can do anything and everything at the highest level - like painting pictures under the best conditions with the best tools/equipment available without distractions or interruption.

I am certain I have honestly watched this 100 times or more in 5 years and still find a new best part each time. I am not sure I have ever seen a better live show on YT. He must have been in some real dark places when some of these songs were written but they are uplifting for me anyway. Many of them are incredibly relatable in a lyrical sense, which may be why they seem so good.
Never actually been impressed by a bassist before but this guy really nails it. Obviously Kotzen is just incredible as always, just thought the bassist needed a shout out after such a fantastic performance
Absolutely MAGNIFICENT set! Richie is a once in a lifetime musician. If he only sang, he’d be a fucking hero. If he only played, he’d be a God. We HAVE to cherish these rare opportunities we have as listeners. We are not worthy.
I'm 63 and my grandkids think I'm just the coolest old dude for listening to this kind of music at my age. Tell them this is the real deal. Not the shit that's out there today.

He reminds me of the Dutch musician, Anneke Van Giersbergen and Canadian musician Devin Townsend because they are mega talented musicians but very, very underrated musicians. Anneke Van Giersbergen only plays basic guitar and mostly acoustic guitar but her vocals and songwriting in the multiple genres that she has done in nearly 3 decades is off the charts even though she never was on the popular charts. Devin Townsend and Ritchie Kotzen are great guitarists and great vocalists and songwriters but never got recognized as well in the mainstream. Ritchie got some recognition while briefly with Poison but his solo stuff completely blows away anything that Poison did, especially the music of Poison before Ritchie. Devin Townsend got his start with being a vocalist in Steve Vai's band and then did Strapping Young Lad and eventually the Devin Townsend Project but it never got much press even though it is awesome music.
Definitely one of the very underrated guitar players in the World, that deserves attention. Top players of the decade for sure and what a great vocal!!!
Agreed and definitely more underrated as a complete musician-singer/songwriter. The man has released over 20 Studio albums with most catering to a different music genre. Not many artists can pull that off these days.

Saw him last night. Definitely one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen and I’m 51 and been an avid concert goer and guitarist since I’ve been 9 years old. Parents used to take me to lots of concerts as a kid

I was in the same boat a little over a year ago. Random Winery Dogs video comes on and I’m like “who is this guy, how have I never heard of him?” I’ve been playing catch up ever since. His solo catalog is deep, then I find out he did a project with Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden (Smith/Kotzen) that is amazing.

He has a good rock voice , kind of reminds me of a mix between Robert Plant and Chris Cornell or something. To sing that good live and at the same time play lead guitar as the only guitarist in the band and make it sound this good is not something to sneeze at either. Thumbs up!

His voice breaks my heart in the best way. I cannot believe the epic combo of supernatural guitarist and those kind of vocals. Not gonna lie, I'm a huge fan of Chris Cornell and when I stumbled onto this guy today I was confused for a second! They could have stood in for one another on the mic easily. Edit: my dad loved LOVED Fender guitars, and I don't recall him talking about this guy. He must not have known or I would have known cause he definitely fed me all the good morsels he found. Makes me miss my dad terribly.

Chris blossomed as a singer as he aged, if you ask me, and his lyrics because more complex and mature. He also produced a solo album that I am very fond of called Higher Truth. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. I like the blues elements of what Richie does very much. My dad was a blues fan, I think it's in my DNA lol I'm so happy to have found another amazing artist to geek out on ;D

You and me both, brother. I just discovered him a couple years ago. I went to see him here in Minneapolis a little over a year ago and he was playing a Winery Dog gig. I drug my 60 year old ass down there and jumped and danced all night long. Then I drug my weary ass home and stayed in bed the next day but boy was it worth. I'm looking forward to the next time he comes to Mpls, whether he plays with the two above or The Winery Dogs. I'm there. Damn coranovirus!

I'm going to see them at some point in my life. My favorite to see is Chrissie Hyndes. I live in Minneapolis but I traveled to Arizona and Wisconsin to see her. I can't wait for the concerts to start up and again!

This is probably Richie's best band and best performance of all the videos I have tracked down and listened to...This is even better than his Winery Dogs efforts....The audio mixing was fantastic... it really made the whole act shine... Richie, his guitar work and his singing were unbelievable!! This is the best of Richie Kotzen I have seen.

However, some things are worth keeping alive and this power trio is definitely an example. The chemistry and flexibility between these 3 guys is off the charts - they can do anything and everything at the highest level - like painting pictures under the best conditions with the best tools/equipment available without distractions or interruption.

It's not just Kotzen, the entire band kicks ass!!
I am certain I have honestly watched this 100 times or more in 5 years and still find a new best part each time. I am not sure I have ever seen a better live show on YT. He must have been in some real dark places when some of these songs were written but they are uplifting for me anyway. Many of them are incredibly relatable in a lyrical sense, which may be why they seem so good.

one of the most talented musicians on the planet. great vocalist, and such a tasty guitar player.
He reminds me of the Dutch musician, Anneke Van Giersbergen and Canadian musician Devin Townsend because they are mega talented musicians but very, very underrated musicians. Anneke Van Giersbergen only plays basic guitar and mostly acoustic guitar but her vocals and songwriting in the multiple genres that she has done in nearly 3 decades is off the charts even though she never was on the popular charts. Devin Townsend and Ritchie Kotzen are great guitarists and great vocalists and songwriters but never got recognized as well in the mainstream. Ritchie got some recognition while briefly with Poison but his solo stuff completely blows away anything that Poison did, especially the music of Poison before Ritchie. Devin Townsend got his start with being a vocalist in Steve Vai's band and then did Strapping Young Lad and eventually the Devin Townsend Project but it never got much press even though it is awesome music.
Definitely one of the very underrated guitar players in the World, that deserves attention. Top players of the decade for sure and what a great vocal!!!

I was in the same boat a little over a year ago. Random Winery Dogs video comes on and I’m like “who is this guy, how have I never heard of him?” I’ve been playing catch up ever since. His solo catalog is deep, then I find out he did a project with Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden (Smith/Kotzen) that is amazing.

His voice breaks my heart in the best way. I cannot believe the epic combo of supernatural guitarist and those kind of vocals. Not gonna lie, I'm a huge fan of Chris Cornell and when I stumbled onto this guy today I was confused for a second! They could have stood in for one another on the mic easily.
Edit: my dad loved LOVED Fender guitars, and I don't recall him talking about this guy. He must not have known or I would have known cause he definitely fed me all the good morsels he found. Makes me miss my dad terribly.

@@bikadelberg5851 If you like Soundgarden, you'll love Audioslave. Have you listened to anything of theirs? Chris blossomed as a singer as he aged, if you ask me, and his lyrics because more complex and mature. He also produced a solo album that I am very fond of called Higher Truth. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
I like the blues elements of what Richie does very much. My dad was a blues fan, I think it's in my DNA lol I'm so happy to have found another amazing artist to geek out on ;D

apparently 3.8 million people have found richie before me. that's one good thing about being old, playing for 50 years, i still can find amazing artists that are new to me. the world still holds surprises even at this late stage...
You and me both, brother. I just discovered him a couple years ago. I went to see him here in Minneapolis a little over a year ago and he was playing a Winery Dog gig. I drug my 60 year old ass down there and jumped and danced all night long. Then I drug my weary ass home and stayed in bed the next day but boy was it worth. I'm looking forward to the next time he comes to Mpls, whether he plays with the two above or The Winery Dogs. I'm there. Damn coranovirus!
@@syneca69 You're 60 and you can go to concerts ? You are lucky. I'm 60 too and I went to see every rock/metal band I could, but it's been 10 years now that I can't go anymore, my ears don't want anymore, they had too much noise in my life. Sometimes only headphones are too much... I'm sad.

@@pitfrr I'm sad too. One of my favorite things to do at this age is going to a concert. I had tickets to see Greta Van Fleet last year out of state but my plans fell through. I'm going to see them at some point in my life. My favorite to see is Chrissie Hyndes. I live in Minneapolis but I traveled to Arizona and Wisconsin to see her. I can't wait for the concerts to start up and again!
